World of Tanks has an excellent system to emulate for this, as like in Dust, when you die in WoT it costs you credits. The bottom line is that retards like the above, who dream of TK'ing people because they think they are the ones who decide how other players play the game, need to be appropriately punished for their stupidity. Fines taken from their wallet and given to the people they kill, designation as a team killer and made an open target for anyone on any team to kill and get credit for, and finally, temporary and eventually permanent banning from the game.
Friendly fire is nice because it adds a bit more depth to the tactics to be employed. Friendly fire is bad when people use it to maliciously kill their team mates. So to achieve the former without the latter, sufficient punishment needs to go along with egregious TK'ing. If that's done, I think FF would be a valuable addition to the game. If it isn't, then morons like the above will ruin Dust as teams end up more concerned with killing each other than with killing the enemy team.
Banning TK would not be within the ideology of the New Eden universe. Backstabbing, betrayal, and subterfuge are integral parts of the way things run in the Eve/Dust universe. So TK someone and get no kill/WP/SP/ISK credit fine. But penalties, if any, should be based on sec status of the area combat occurs in and banning should never be considered. |

I do like the security flagging on friendly fire idea.
Suggested scale for each match.
High sec / public battles. TK 3: Marker turns yellow for team mates advising them to be cautious of possible TKer. TK 5: Flagged as hostile for both teams. Marker turns orange making one a viable, and rewarding, target for everyone on the battle field.
Low sec battles. TK 2: Marker turns yellow for team mates advising them to be cautious of possible TKer. TK 3: Flagged as hostile for both teams. Marker turns orange making one a viable, and rewarding, target for everyone on the battle field.
Null sec battles. TK 1: Marker turns yellow for team mates advising them to be cautious of possible TKer.
This is just a thought for skirmish modes. I'm sure something similar could be worked out for ambush modes. Either way, FF should be on. |
