Selecting weapons is way to finicky if I am even slightly off I'll switch to the wrong thing, it is especially bad when trying to switch from my drop uplink back to my smg. if you are placing a drop uplink and are suddenly attacked every second counts while you are trying to dodge enemy fire and switch to another weapon. we need a different system. |

You get used to it, also if you tap the button instead of holding it you will switch between your 2 weapons. |

Weapon switch: Tap R2. Only switches from equipment to last selected weapon, or between primary weapon and sidearm.
Equipment wheel: Hold R2. Allows free selection of any weapon or equipment available on the fitting.
Weapon switch is actually really responsive, and the equipment wheel takes some getting used to, but works well for its intended role. Don't rely on it in combat, because it's awkward to use in a rush, but in combat, you're almost always going to be focused on weapons rather than equipment anyway. |

As others have said, getting back to your primary weapon shouldn't be a problem, you just need to tap weapons change. I do agree with the OP though, I mostly play a logibro ATM, so in a fire fight I want to be able to switch between my weapon and whatever equipment I'm trying to use quickly and cleanly. I already have to spam the fire button while trying to find the sweet spot to inject someone I watched fall over, it can be a lite frustrating when I have to spend the extra time trying not to drop an uplink on their body first too. |

Tapping to switch weapons takes too long in my opinion. There's a lag between when you've tapped and before the animation starts. I'm always dead before it's even halfway out. |

I notice that too. Also since R2 is a trigger, it's a pain to get the tap just right in chaotic situations. Died a few times wrestling with it when I needed my other gun in a fight.
I think it would work better on R1 but then I'm not too sure if R2 would feel right for shooting. |

Its a pain in the ass being a forge gunner and having to struggle to get to my sidearm to kill an infantry. It sucks losing a 110k suit because the game can't see that I'm switching weapons. |

I'll put a link to it if i can find it but i seem to remember a dev taking about a "gun slinger" book to skill into that would increase swap speed. |

That would be nice. Could use more general skill stuff like that. |

Weapon switch works as intended about 25% of the time... It really needs some attention. Please Fix

In fairness, if the guy killed you before you switched weapons you were already dead and no amount of effort on your part would have done anything to prevent that.
However, I agree that the weapon switching is too finicky. If I want to switch weapons then I often find my view drifting a bit after the switch. This drift is the most frustrating when in a firefight and you're trying to remain on target I find. |

I agree; especially when you go against someone like me and is forced to reload, as their primary can't seem to ever hit me. |

This is part of a systemic issue with all interface controls.
They need to first open up controls to custom mapping by a player as well as big time tighten up the control feedback. It;s sloppy, unintuitive, and lags. Even the reloading mechanic is FUBAR all over the place. it's not worth pointing out specifics because it is entirely broken in every way. It will plainly have to be fixed at some point. |

I find the worse is trying to select between different equipment as a logi in heat of a battle. amount of times i've thrown out a nano hive instead of injecting a teammate is ridiculous. personally ;push to talk should be scrapped and so should pushing up to bring scoreboard up, theres no use for it and just have it as select again like old days freeing up d-pad buttons for quick selecting assigned equipment so i can un upto a fallen comrade, tap left and bring out my injector instead of repeatedly trying to cycle round the wheel time and time again in a hurry. the whole wheel thing works great if you have move but for us normal folk with analogue stick it'd be nice to be able to have other alternatives. i hope we can change controls around soon because i have a bf3 style layout which would work really well with melee being on r2 as normal and crouch being on r3. its pretty stupid that there isnt a cod/bf3 style setup seeing as majority of players will be coming from those games |

I have to support custom mapping. Keyboard is pretty bad at the moment too! I would have thought that in this day and age controller mapping would be universal... |

Weapon switching needs to be quicker (at least when switching to pistol) and more reliable. This is kind of sad how this is even a problem in a shooter game. |

A fellow DUST player posted an idea that I think will solve this problem. Here's the link:

I also think a quickdraw skill should be added. |

Quickdraw idea +1.
I have to mention CoD here as I did particularly enjoy one of the perks that was in MW1 (I think, I stopped playing after MW2) which gave you faster aim down sights too as well as another perk which gave faster weapon switching. |
