Configure vehicles to only allow its owner the operator's seat. Set to unlock if the owner leaves a certain radius of the vehicle.
This means if you're always next to your dropship, HAV or LAV you'll always be able to pilot it, unless you die or abandon the it for whatever reason. |

Goes to reason why a player without Dropship piloting skills can steal a ship from a player with required skills for said dropship. |

The only ones I think most can steal anyway is the militia ones. The other ones take trained skills. Doesn't it lock them from piloting them anyways? |

Ah. Then that's something they need to fix. On EvE if someone ejects their pod from their ship. Then someone else can board it. However they need the skills in order to even do it. Like taking an assault frigate and ejecting in front of new players. And then telling them the first one to board it gets to keep it. Then laughing at them all as they get error messages saying they do not have the skill to pilot the ship so they can't board it. |

Same rule should apply to HAV drivers. This should apply for all vehicles. Vehicle locking is a basic feature of Planetside 2 for a reason. |

I was always amazed that my 0 skill vehicle merc can somehow find the way to drive a massive HAV
Locking the access to the operator seat to AT LEAST people with enough skills to use EVERY module fitted on it AND the HAV itself (same goes for LAVs and dropship obviously) is the minimum we should have.
Otherwise, why bother to skill HAV ? have one guy in your team do it and call 3 HAVS for him and two friends.
Locking features are also needed. Getting out your HAV to rep it, or to drop ammo to teammates, or anything. And then, see a complete idiot take your HAV and run it into the red line is just unacceptable. (yeah, my eyes are on you metiumagic for doing such a noobish thing on one of my mates lately... ) |

i think he is refering to the blue dots and i agree
red dots have to hack it before they can jump in if u think about it this is basically like picking the lock on the door of the HAV but even if u applied this to the blue dots u would still get unskilled noobs and blueberries without the prereq's to drive it stealing it
i like the EVE idea someone has already mentioned it if u dont have the skills u cannot board it
lets say u are running a marauder it requires u to have HAV lvl 5 and marauder lvl 5 (hyperthetical here) so to me u would need minimum skills of HAV lvl 5 and marauder lvl 1 to steal it weather u are red or blue
my suggest means that if a red hacked the tank and jumped in u would only beable to defend the tank using the turrets he would have to wait for someone on his team with the minimum skills to drive it an operate the main cannon to show up it would add to the realism u dont get infantry soldiers on the battlefield jumping in enemy tanks and driving away with the they would have to work out how to drive the dam thing first |

To elaborate on this (already heavily discussed) topic ...
All turrets should only be operable by mercs with the required skill.
This would help in pub matches where vehicle operators would only fit basic secondary turrets and hope a few people have trained a level of the type of turret they fitted. |

This, like vehicle retrieval and other vehicle topics, has been discussed before with no feedback from CCP. The only real answer has been from other gamers simply warning to be smart about where you deploy and park your vehicle. |

I agree that it should be locked until you leave a certain radius. It should also be unlocked instead of blown up if there is another friendly mercenary nearby. I do think, however, that there should be an option to unlock a vehicle for your team to use. Maybe as a select-able option when you drop it, maybe as a global option, maybe as a function that can be used on an existing vehicle that you control. Maybe all of those. I especially agree that those without the capability of using the vehicle should be disallowed from actually using it. The turrets, however, I'm not sure of. I'd have to say that the turret skills have more to do with the actual configuration of them to your vehicle than the skill required to aim and fire them. |

I would like to see, as Ulysses stated, an option to allow people into the vehicle; be it for driver seat or turret(s). Too many times has someone "pirated" my LAV while I'm in the gunner seat. I also support the need to have the required skill(s) to operate a given vehicle. |

if the vehicle is abandoned it should just self destruct. this in turn might help improve potential lag issues since it would be one less thing to render in the field. |

No, this isnt easy mode game folks. you can get screwed in new eden. its deliberately designed that way. not only should people be able to steal your tanks, they should keep them if they end the match with them.
Being screwed over by your allies is deliberately hardwired into this game. |
