I like this idea. Mercs who invest in expensive vehicles should have proper control over them. Changing seats should not cost you the vehicle.
Lets say the owner has the ignition coded uniquely to his hacking module. |

Vehicles should be stealable.
BUT
In order to fly/drive a vehicle one needs to be skilled to do so.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that way down here in the Dust.
I would get behind a password or Hack it first attempt. When Friendly Fire is enabled you can just cap the Blue Berry trying to steal your ride, which should get some kind of WP even it was Blue. Ooh! Carry a Nanite Injector and get +60 for reviving the thieving dork. Kill them again, leave then ... in the Dust and drive away. |

This idea isn't to make vehicles theftproof. Enemies can still hack and take the vehicle, and friendlies can take it as well if the owner leaves the radius. |

The cost of a vehicle is immense. To have someone take it that is on your team is aggraveting. Make the pilot seat only respond to its owner unless it has been hacked by enemy or allie. I think these high tesh pieces of equipment would be set to recognize your bio signature and would take some kind of an override in order to pilot it if its not yours. |

still so very much a good suggestion. WOuld kill both the fear of pilots to see their vehicle hijacked and avoid people without the skills required to operate the damn thing to use their friend's vehicle. |

In New Eden if you do not have the required skills to board an empty ship you cannot board it, even if it is a corp ship you will not be allowed to board it
Bottomline is in New Eden while you are in space if you do not have the required skills to fly a ship you cannot take it
So bringing the rules of New Eden into it no one should be able to steal your HAV unless they have the basics to actually get in and move it
But also this is not including mods, in New Eden you can board to ship if you have the skills but you do not have the skills for the mods then you cannot use the mods so you may end up with a free HAV but you cannot use the mods to defend yourself or even fire the turret
Now if it was done this way then it defo would not be easy mode, current system we have is easy mode |
