I think PvE should be an important part of Dust as well as PvP. Also ive read that some have worries that it is difficult for new players to get into the game and figure out how things work. So here is an idea.
For the first issue. Keeping PvE alive. There needs to be a large variety of enemies, maps, and modes to keep things going. Although im shure that this is obvios to CCP.
The second and more importantly. Tutorials. CCP should implement a series of missions, sort of like a campaign but not as drawn out. Something like the tutorial missions in EVE. At character creation you join an NPC corp. Because you are new they need to train you. These missions will be the basics. Shooting, moveing, vehicles, etc. Now to make it something special and more fun. At the completion of training there should be some sort of distress call from a planet. Since you are new the corp sends you and some other NPC mercs to take carre of it accompanied by a vet who teaches you stuff.
The second part would be a little more dramatic and over another small series of missions it teaches all the various game modes and meta game stuff.
I think it would be cool and add to the immersion. Thoughts? |

I can think of a handful of enemy NPCs that would go well with this idea.
1. Sansha's Nation http://community.eveonline.com/background/potw/default.asp?cid=20-12-10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJKcK-Fv80I&list=PLF614A7A6461E61E1&index=10&feature=plpp_video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejX0Rym0NZw&list=PLF614A7A6461E61E1&index=11&feature=plpp_video
2. Rogue Drones (CCP already talked about this) 3. Dread Guristas invasion |

Sansha's nation would be one of the logical choices. Mebbe after a training mission involving Rogue Drones. |

The devs are starting with rogue drones, presumably because then they don't need to make the AI act like real people. They can just throw big dumb drones at you in ever increasing numbers, and no-one will say "a real drone wouldn't act that way".
As soon as they introduce human NPCs they'll have to start dealing with people complaining that they aren't acting the way a real person would, and getting that right will be a much more significant investment.
I imagine they'll get to it eventually (other games obviously manage it just fine), its just a matter of prioritising the use of finite resources. |

PVE provides a good launching point for PVP encounters. If there is a hive somewhere and you're killing there... it's a good place for a PVP'er to come check for other players and initiate an engagement (of course many factors will have to be considered) |
