To immediately get to the point- why should type II dropsuits cost more than type I?
It isn't like they're necessarily better than type I, it's just a subtype of a suit meant to support a different play style- in fact, I think lowering the cost to that of type I suits would greatly widen some of the setups and strategies we see.
If we already put more SP into being able to use dropsuits that are the same thing as less skill-intensive dropsuits (aside from some tweaks rearranging strengths and weaknesses), they should cost the same.

Edit ( Type II dropsuits ) rely on shields. at least assault ones do. Shield > in $$ than armor. Hope this helpped. :D |

And type II isn't always about shields-
- scout type II is like a logi/scout hybrid- some stuff as type I, only without a sidearm slot, and a second equipment slot
- logistics type II is faster, but I believe it's also squishier (can't remember the exact weakness)

Type-II assault and heavy's rely mainly on shields and they are popular cause shields regenerate while armor does not without a armor repair. Scouts are basically wannabe logis and the logi variant loses a equipment slot to gain more speed. |

It replaces an equipment slot for faster speed and stamina stats. Prototype variant only can carry 3 equipment, while the vk.0 Logistics suit carries 4. |

I wasn't a big fan of the Type-II Assault dropsuit a while ago,but after I upgraded my shield a little more that what they were,I realize how much better it is to be shield tanked than armor tanked.
My next target is to get the Series B suit.Hope I can get it before a reset. |

Well, you get more overall health with the type II. 225 +105 > 125 + 175. Also, the type II has more CPUs and PGs than the type I so it should cost more. |

The additional cost may reflect what ccp is estimating the suit will cost based on materials. In EVE the cost of an item can directly be traced back to the cost of the individual minerals and components that it takes to make the item. Tech 2 ships and modules in EVE are also similar in that they are better in very specific roles. However, the process to make a Tech 2 item is much more involved, requiring special skills, invention to make the blueprints, and rarer more exclusive minerals.
Thus more expensive, but not ALWAYS better. |

Nova Knife's post. #6 in the thread. Should be a direct link with the post at the top of the page.
Nova Knife wrote:The next build is mostly a stability/polish release. They are mostly focussing on fixing what is in the beta already.
NO SP RESET NEXT BUILD There's also a thread with an IRC transcript where the devs mentioned it, but that's at least 10 pages ago. |

Not sure why there's all this hate on the type A. As a heavy it's what I use on my primary suit and I love it. With the extra slot, it's almost like having an extra life. I easily die half as much as I used to with the type II almost completely because of the extra slot. Not to mention all the armor I walk around with. I think the problem is a lot of people (not you necessarily) are jumping right into the type A without upgrading the necessaries to run a suit like that. If you run a nice suit with cheap modules what do you think is going to happen? |
