I had heard mtac and vtol fighter were planed at release, then moved to be in expansion because of work core mechanics needed. It would be great at release, but I'll happily wait if it means rest of game is better. |

Mechs = Dust death.
CCP seems to be taking after Starhawk, which failed miserably. It's bad enough with heavies right now, let alone dealing with f**ing mechs.
Unless the assault (and every other) class gets an additional slot that has some kind of heat-seeking nuclear missile system, mechs will dominate big-time. Heck, we need that right now with heavies, which are severely OP. I can't even imagine them adding mechs into the mix as well.
As for jetpacks, haven't heard that one yet, but with the crappy aiming mechanics of this game, it will also be a game-killer. CCP needs to focus on the core gameplay like aiming and balance before adding these ridiculous items. Otherwise Dust will have the same fate as Starhawk, 170k sales after 6-7 months. |

From EVElopedia:
MTACs (Mechanized Torso-Actuated Chassis) are metal exoskeletons used for heavy duty mining work. They are armed with mining lasers and can be remote controlled or worn by miners.
MTACs make for effective emergency weapons in combat, as they are heavy, virtually immune to anti-personnel laser weapons, and have large, dangerous claws. Some have surface cling abilities that allow them to maneuver in zero gravity. |

Heavies..... OP....... Are you kidding me? Those words don't belong in the same sentence unless its "heavies are not OP."
We move slow as hell, we can't even jump over railings, most heavies depend on armour which means armour plates and no armour repairer therefore you get us to armour and we're weakened. Maybe you should stop charging head on at a HMG wielding tank on legs and circle around behind it. Heavies are pretty good as is, although they're nowhere near as powerful as they used to be.
Also people shooting from he tacks will have as much trouble hitting things as people shooting at them. I see no problem here. |

Maybe if you stop playing as a heavy and actually tried going against them as an assault player you would understand. Even with a decent AR and suit, it takes several clips of constant fire to take down even the most basic heavy, let alone they have nearly the exact same range as an AR player.
Heavies are severely OP and need a massive nerf. I think I actually have a better chance going up against a tank as an AR player than I do a heavy.
Heavies needs to be vulnerable to swarm lock-ons, as a start. They also need a massive nerf in their range capability in terms of the machine guns they wield. Should be 50-70% of what they have now. Heavies should only be effective at extremely close range when using the HMG.
Heavies only duty in this game should be AV, other than that they need to be effective only at extremely close range. |

The funny part is I only started using heavies today dumbass. They were already nerfed. I can take down heavies with a logistics suit. Like I said before, stop charging them head on. HMG's have crappy range already, 50-70% reduction will leave them useful at 1 centimetre. A heavy suit is supposed to beat an assault suit every time in straight 1v1. Who would use a heavy when it has as much armour as an assault suit, but is much slower, can't jump and one of it's best weapons gets nerfed to uselessness.
Maybe if you started playing as heavy going against an assault player with an ounce of brains you would understand. |

The only issue I have a concern about is the range of their weapons, it does seem to me at times they can really reach out and touch someone.
Otherwise they're fine, when I'm paying attention I can drop them with my AR. When I'm not, I'm dead. A good sniper will have no problems with them or anyone else for that matter.
They're HEAVY for a reason, the armor/shield is fine.
To nerf something to make it easier to kill is what destroys a game. I am personally excited for DUST because it's going to reward the player(s) who work together, and who spend time thinking and coming up with ways to terminate their enemy. Everything is there for you to win, you need to find that way.

Also last build militia swarm launchers could do over 1000 damage if every missile hit. I don't know if it's the same this build but that is a OHK on any heavy suit no matter how kitted out it is |

Basic heavies do not take a massive amount of fire from the basic militia assault rifle. They can not move fast, turn fast, jump, etc. They are a tank on two legs that if you flank them you can take them out with less than 1 1/2 mags from the militia AR. If they are armed with the HMG then you either want to get mostly head shots while ducking in and out of cover, or have a team mate working with you, as when that gun starts ripping with you in front of it, well, you'll be planning your next spawn fast. Like all the suits, they have weak and strong points for us to learn. Definitely no nerf needed. |

Heavies are not OP, they were close to extinct prior to this build. MTACs and stuff would be fun, but will come later. Core functionality is what they need to work on now, and I am pretty sure that is their plan. |

@Leukoplast
Mechs are not the death of Dust and nor should they be. Since Dust is based inside and operating within the New Eden galaxy as Eve Online and will share the same server (tranquility) soon with capsuleers, mtacs are part of the backstory of not only Eve but of Dust as well. If it is any confort to you, Oxskull (above) made a valid point that mtacs are not 100% combat effective as they are mainly used as mining tools.
Speaking of mining tools, did you know that the forge gun is also a mining tool? CCP made note of that in their Dust website. You can also look it up in the fan site Dust514base.org. |
