Free Healing wrote:very interesting opinions and views :) I'm curious about another thing hopefully my fellow Logibro's can help me with. Nanohive Vs. Drop Uplink: Which is more "Worth it?" As far as i can tell both of these modules are very nice. Normally i'd roll with the Nanohive since everybody needs ammo. And it requires less PG than the Drop Uplink. What are your thoughts on which is more useful/appreciated by our Teammates? Is one more useful than the other depending on which mode (Skirmish Vs. Ambush) your currently in? as always you views and opinions are appreciated I'm a fellow pure Logibro as well and to discuss about the Nanohive to Uplink, it varies.
Nanohives are useful in any situation due to the fact that it is indeed ammo. You can never have too much. They are especially useful for the more advanced ones that even repair armor, so you could use one of those in place of a repper and take another equipment piece instead, though I love my repper to death. Also with our...inability to carry only one Light or Small Weapon, it's best to keep nanohives with you incase you need some ammo. I burn through my ammo quite quickly. I may even consider getting a burst rifle to reduce consumption.
Uplinks can be useful in any situation. Though they can also be a double edge sword. If enemies are "smart" they can camp on an important Uplink and kill any friendlies that appear. Make sure you place them in areas that are key points near objectives and areas that are the roads less traveled if you catch my meaning.
In terms of the mode, Nanohives are great, especially on Ambush where the map has no supply depots. On Skirmish however it is less as frequent as you can capture supply depots and recharge your supplies there, so you can switch it out for another piece of equipment.
Uplinks are alright on Ambush if you want to blob up with your squad or team in a location, but again, kept it in a well hidden location or it may just go pop. Same goes with Skirmish, but Uplinks could be the edge in the deciding factor if you need to capture objectives or not.
For my suit, I carry two different ones.
2x Enchanced Shield Extenders 1x GEK-38 Assault Rifle 1x Enhanced Armor Plate 1x Enchanced Armor Repair 1x Gauged Nanohive 1x Triage Repair Tool 1x Nanite Injector 1x Miltia Locus Grenade
for my other suit I switch out my Nanohive for a Remote Explosive, which is great on Skirmish mode.
Also, if you have a Logistics in your squad, switch out your Armor Repair for another Armor Plate if you can fit it.
One disadvantage for the Logistics suit is that you are also slow. In order to combat your speed to at least keep pace with your teammates, I found that training your skills to increase your Stamina amount and recharge rate to be quite useful to offset your slower speed. |

Ah Nahtlog, I know you. Well don't know if you know me, you've killed me a bunch of times before (more so when i went by a different character name). Didn't know you were a Logibro.
You make some excellent points and i'm extremely envious of your Dropsuit Fitting which i assume is T3 or 4 given you don't need a PG Enhancer for all those goodies. How much SP you need to afford that kind of suit is beyond me lol.
I'm well aware about the "Double-Edged Sword" that is the Drop Uplink and i myself do try to put them in places where they're not easily seen or detected. What's kind of frustrating though is how i'll put it in a very "tactical" location (such as behind enemy lines/objective) and they'll never get used but when i put it somewhere obvious (like right up next to an objective) it'll get used and then either destroyed real easy or abused by the enemy.
Nanohives on the other hand are somewhat tricky cuz you have to find that niche where a player can access it easily, it's not seen by the enemy, and players that go to it are semi protected from the enemy. which is sometimes hard. |

The SVER Logi suit is the MAG Logi Suit that came in the special edition Merc Pack.
Hives vs Links. I know that I am going to die. I am logi, I am not tank. IF I am following Heavies, I am deep in the **** and going to get the stray bullets that make it past the Heavies. IF I am with AR's, I am going to get left behind while the rambos hunt down prey. SO! First spawn in is my free (Militia BPOs) Link/Res suit. Following that all my other load-outs carry Rep, Hive, Res. |

whaaaa? there was a special edition Merc pack that included something from MAG? Interesting. though i think it's pretty cool that CCP gave MAG a shout out. Loved that game back in the day.
and your right the squishy-ness of us logibro's is another factor on NH Vs. DU. it's not like we're Sniper scouts we can't just run accross the map (or drive) and drop an uplink behind enemy lines. Every time i attempt a solo operation during a game (whether it's my choice or the spawn systems >.>) it always ends badly for me no matter where i am. |

This has been quite the read.
I run a similar suit to most people here, except that I use weapon mods in the highs to increase my output (I like to kill things also) but I run dual armor reppers in the lows with an AR, link/injector/repper. the thinking behind my low slot choice is that plates slow down an already slow suit and with the paper think tank they have, if I get shot I'm either going to die (with or without the plates, I've done extensive dying, i mean testing) but if I live, the reppers bring my armor back up quite quickly.
I can still get decent WP with that setup, considering I can get a few kills of my own plus the WP from the stabby and link, but i DEFINITELY won't turn down the WP when they add back the rep points. |

I've ran into you a few times before, shout out to my fellow Logibros and Logi....you know the h word...
Anyways, yes, the SP isn't a huge factor for me, it is the ISK, if I die it is about a 50-60k loss for that fit. Though I can take out the GEK and switch to a standard for less of a hole in my wallet. In terms of the PG, I have Engineering to 4 last I checked and Armor Upgrades to 3, which allows me to make a nice fit, with still a bit of room left over.
For the Uplink, some people just tend to not notice it sometimes which can be slightly frustrating, though it is more used in Ambush maps, which is beyond my understanding. They just need to have better eyes.
Nanohive Locations? Choke points and well traveled roads. Usually in spaces where the bubble will fit are great places for them. Other than that, stick with your squad and ask them if they need any ammo. Those that follow the same path will be greeted kindly with some ammo.
Also, if you run out of nanohives, try going to a supply depot (where available), switch to another fit, and then back to your old fit, and you will have a fresh stack of nanohives at no cost.

As a Logibro, you will have multiple fits. Esp. early on, when you cannot carry as much. As you skillup though, that will change and at each new level, you will have to make fewer and fewer fits, but it will cost ya.
I usually run with Shield reps, DMG modifers, Armor reps, nano-r (when available), nanite, and a gek as standard on the fits. I try and not use militia on a non-militia fit, but you have to on some things. A typical fit once i get all my skills up and the sfits I want are usually around 30 - 50k... which is OUCH if you die. And with the ISK rewards screwed up, that = lost money.
I keep a couple lower level fits so that when I first spawn into a gam, I can determine if I will bring out the expensive stuff. If the team is doing well (working together and what not), I have no qualms brining out my more expensive gear to help out, but I won't do that if the team is a bunch of people running around with their heads cut-off.
As far as hive or uplink, they both have advantages and disadvantages. If your team is always on the move, you'll just drop one, restock, and keep moving. On skirmish, depending on the map, they might be usefull in certain situations, but the supply depots are always there. And uplinks need to stay out as long as possible to be effective, but can be eaisly spawned camped. Both though have the advantage of, the longer they stay out (no one shoots / uses them up), the more WP's you get. For instance: for every 30 seconds a nano is out, you get WP's (raised from 20 sec... thanks a lot CCP) |

Yeah i'm just starting to get to that point where i'm comfortable not using a Militia Dropsuit. The light damage modifier is a tremendous help, surprisingly, to my survivablity since i can gun down foes from a farther range more easily. I really would like to use a GEK-38 but it's just to darn expensive. right now I pay about 20,000 ISK to restock my Type-1 Logibro suit.
8400 - (Type-1 Logibro) 4000 - (Assault Rifle) 2400 - (Basic Armor Plate) 5800 - (Enhanced Shield Extender)
Was thinking maybe move back down to a Militia BPO Shield Extender to ease my wallet somewhat. |

Running as a Logi
This is a tutorial I did for the last build. I have a new guide for logi's, but it must wait until the tournament is over. But this should give you a start and give you the LOGI CODE to live by. |

I think logistics is a very viable class to focus on. I started assault/logi but rarely go back to assault suits now. Any good corp should appreciate a pure logistics player.
Sure we are a little softer, but that forces you to play smarter, which is more fun.
Most of the time I'm soloing with random players so I run all BPOs (even militia AR). I may not have the best KDR but most matches I feel like I actually played a part in my team winning. And this has been great practice .
When I get to run with a good squad that sticks together I can pull out the expensive toys and play a valuable role.
As far as whether to carry ammo or spawn beacons I'd say have a few duplicate kits with equipment switched up. I usually don't run spawn beacons unless my team is having a hard time keeping flags.
And I know a lot of people are angry about no points for repairing, but as logistics I tend to think of team mates as an extension of my armor so have no problem keeping them alive. |

By "Ground Snipe" do you mean that you run with a Sniper Rifle? if so that's definately a tactic i've never considered. I buff my suit with Enhanced Shield Extenders since the Armor Plates slow me down and make me sniper fodder. I've counter-sniped with the basic forge gun. You're not safe. |

You got a Sver Logi, Raven Assault and the Valor scout. Currently the only one you can access is the Valor scout, as it's an aurum purchase on the market. I wish they'd hurry up and put out the Sver and Raven ones.
I don't quite get why they added another scout BPO tbh, it's exactly the same as the Dragonfly except green. |

I play logi, and pretty successfully I like to think! I play with nanohives and uplinks, because as it was mentioned ealier alot of Assault guys run around with injectors.
The only problem I have is when im going lone wolf and my team are shite, there is not enough ammo available if no-one on my team can hit anything... Then if 90% of my team are getting insta-gibbed with Duvelles there isn't much I can do...
All you nublet logis running armor repairers.... You need to get nanocircuitry 4 and get the nanohives that rep your armour aswell :).
PS If you see a Guinevere special nanohive (i.e a nanohive with a little + in the corner) and your on my team, Im shooting at you come to stand in the nanohive because you have NO ARMOUR!!.

In regards to a question asked in the OP of whether logi's are "useful" to a corp. YES!!! I am usually picked up almost as soon as I log on, especially if the squad lead is a squishy heavy user (squishy because hey, who can't hit the slow moving fat guy?). They recognize that a few of my builds I don't run a repair tool, and that is so I can lay down uplinks, but if able to switch out, I do so into my repper fit. That has slowed me down a bit in SP, so most of the time my team realizes (if they don't I tell them) that I may not have my rep tool out due to needing to worry about optimizing my SP gain. |

Nublet Logi? You get two R-Hives each load. While they do repair, they repair slow and you have limited quantity. Who wants to run out of repair ability, or waste a hive to bring back that AR guy while you are on the run? Sure, if you are defending a spot then they are great, and I love them. Even have a 'Defend' suit with R-Hives, Quantam Hives and a Link. |

They do not repair "slow" definately alot faster than most of the early armour repairers at any rate, you get two a life which when used correctly(i.e placement) will give you plenty of time to repair armour / replenish ammo. I think there needs to be added longevity to the higher tier hives, why would a hive two tiers up last aslong as a milittia hive?.
Your correct with the mobility of them but as far as i can see the benefits off adding a second armour plate for 350+ armor far outway having to spend more SP into getting armour repair skills upto par enough to be able use them effectively.
You have to be alive to be able to support, so if i can get out of harms way and repair replenish ammo quickly whilst giving cover fire thats my job done.

i run with a scrambler pistol to save more pg and cpu for equipment and modules
ive found that as long as i dont engage any enemies that arent already being shot at and i make sure my teamates are in front of me, i can keep my squad alive and doing their jobs while getting points at the same time, also smart squad leaders can get alot of points off of logibros cause i was leading a squad and selected and objective then a logi bro threw down a nano hive and started reviving and we both got mass WP for it |
