needs a bit of a buff imho its way to slow and diminishing returns needs to be tweaked...kinda sucks that after 2-3 days of a 7day cycle ppl gettin like 5K SPs
makes the grind even more painful.
idk what the value is now but imo should be around 750-800K without boosters and 1.125-1.2 mill with a booster seems fair imo it needs to actually spread acoss the 7days better
keeps ppl actually wanting to log on and play and this game NEEDS to keep ppl playin or it will die if casuals arent gettin a feeling of decent advancement and hit the cap in 2-3 days then u have 4-5 days of ppl finding other games to play or just basically sayin **** it and moving onto another game
hate them or love them but EVERY game out there depends on the casuals which make up the majority of any game to keep it goin.
Casuals are also the ones more inclined to spend AUR so u HAVE to keep them hooked on the game.
Dunno the exact SP cap, maybe if CCP would actually communicate with us on the value i could find a proper number but from what ive heard/read it seems to be about 500-600K which is not good enough for 7 days. |

Hardcore gamers spend more real money then casuals. There are more casual players though.
I would love to hear CCPs definition of what a casual and hardcore gamer is. There are solutions out there that dont include anti grind punishment.
I would like to point out 1 very important thing ccp seems to be missing here. FPS gamers are hit it and quit it types. They buy a lot of new games each year and have no loyalty if the game sucks. This includes casual gamers not just hardcore. I don't see the value is having players play a couple days a week. Pretty sure after the newness wears off you will most people log in to grind sp then do something else until corps battles.

this is exactly what i do and its exactly what i did on BF3 as well once i got my unlocks on BF3 i honestly despised pubs and just got on for practice and matches
DUST is somewhat similar but one thing that kept me coming back was how the skill system was before so it gave me a reason to keep loggin on
as it is now i play like 3 days casually and start gettin like 5K downwards and just say fck it
i would do more corp battles as well but those cost ISK when u bring out stuff and it gets blown up and u die etc so it forces u to still grind ISK in pubs but u cant get any decent SP return after 2-3 days |

Based upon Zitro's post about when he hit zero sp gain last week we can confidently say that the SP cap for people with boosters is just above 900k a week. I don't think that this is unreasonable and actually fits pretty nicely in your range. I have no idea what the unboosted max is but I bet it isn't that much lower probably around 700k(?) though that is just pure speculation at this point. |

Hundred percent correct, when you take away our ability to thrive, that new game smell goes away quick.. enjoymet becomes a chore like a job i must wake up for.

Lower? you must not have hit the cap.. Not only is this a annoyance that leaves most with a bitter taste of dust in there mouth, but this is also not to hard to come by and with the requirements for skills that a needed grinding becomes necessary. and the fact that peope are taking there time to grind out these points should not be rewarded with a lower skill cap sorry, but thats unacceptable

You can't use the first week's results for anything. The build landed monday and we had a SP reset on both tuesday and wednesday.
So the cap is nowhere near 900k even with a booster. |

Ya this cap while a good idea def need some more tweaking. The cap is def not near 900k lol. When the cap reset Tuesday/Wednesday of this week i got ONE day of 20k-30k SP with a booster, the very next day im back down to 6-10kSP per game. I dont play this game THAT much im sorry. But to bust my ass off ingame for 6kSP at a time, im sorry but im going to get my good day of SP gains in and then im on another game for the rest of the week or Corp battles lol. |

Boosters DO NOT increase max cap. I'm around 500,000 SP gained and the amount I get per game is an average of 250 SP. |

Real problem aint the cap imo. Beside, cap is hardly debatable due to the need to see Dust and EVE offer a slightly similar progression in SP over a same time period. Imo, the main thing to tweak is the diminishing return.
I'd rather have a somehow constant SP income over a week and reach 0 at some point than earning 40k first day and 500 or less 2 days later. althoug, i have no idea what would be a good SP income per game to guarantee this constant progression as you would have to balance hardcore not reaching 0 too fast and casual having no chance to ever reach the cap.
To hardcores : how much game do you play in a week ? Like 150 ? more ? I consider myself being a good middle ground between harcore and casual as being a former hardcore that now has obligations (yeah yeah..... ^^ ) and i play something like 30 to 50 games a week. I think it would be very interesting to have a lot of us taking records of how many games we play in a weeK
So, based on this evaluation and the 850k SP cap. Maybe a per game cap of 10K could work ?
Those numbers are all very not scientific but combining per game cap and SP cap could work. It would guarantee to have not a massive SP difference between hardcore and casuals while still offering hardcore to make a difference and feel rewarded. And also, make it so that those hardcore dudes dont reach cap or discouraging numbers that fast.

Cap is around 500,000 SP. Basically, the SP gain on this build is 4 times slower than the previous build. |

MEH i can tell u straight up that none of us in SyN even play that much except for a handful i played prob less than 50 games in 2 weeks and this **** is annoying and im someone thats been promoting this game a while so obv i want to see it succeed.......now take a new guy who just dloaded the game and really new to it? hes not gonna keep playin, restockin fits repeatedly etc to see little to no progression in his character.......im sorry ive said this a million times but what works for EVE wont necessarily translate well to a shooter
the quicker CCP realises this and ignores some of the EVE centric feedback trying to make this a mirror image of EVE the better the game will become and quickly.
So many unwarranted changes build after build while the core still doesnt feel right and now we have this low hard cap making ppl further wanna play another game
think ive played about 10-15 games this week so far tbh lol

this isnt about making dust 514 a mirror of eve..... this is about making sure it can be integrated successfully to an already existing universe that has rules..
try and see further than the current skills and gameplay... what if dust shares more and more skills wuth eve regarding industry, trading and such ? how can you maintain this if both game offers a different SP rate ? wouldnt make sense....
also the "new player" will be bored with this excuse is LOL.... we re just spoiled as we are used to getting 15mil SP in a couple weeks...... if there had never been active sp. none of us would bother. there are some part of the game we can complain and try to fix but this one is VERY different. you just CANT have a fast and uncontrolled sp progression for the sake of this universe. period.
is it perfect ? can it be tweaked ? yes. but no cap ? there s just no way imo. |

Most "casuals" aren't going to hit the SP cap in two days. I was only able to play about three hours last week, and I haven't been able to log on at all this week. I have yet to have the SP cap impact my SP earning, and that's probably going to be the case for most casuals.
More to the point, the game isn't an SP collection simulator, it's a shooter. If you need big SP bonuses to have fun you should re-examine your priorities. I play the game because I like the gameplay*, and would still do so even if they used a completely passive SP system like EVE's which, for the record, I think they should.
*Y'know, when it's not constantly lagging out on me. But theoretically, I like the gameplay! |

I'm more of a casual gamer and I hit the cap in about 3-4 nights meaning I'm not inclined to play 2-3 nights a week any more. I would not mind the lower sp gain if they would increase the isk gain slightly so i can gain money to pay for the expensive stuff I'm saving up for and ya I would rather not have less then 5k sp for a full game. Make it that it stops diminishing after it gets below a certain point until the cap is reached and then just have zero sp. |

I'm a more casual player due to multiple obligations and I haven't hit the cap yet. I've only got a couple hours in so far this week, but I've got most of the day today open so I'll see how close I can get by the end of the night. |

Thing is, the current weekly cap with an active booster and the passive is already way above what you can earn in EVE on the same period of time. For shared skills, it's already unstable. Making cap higher would only make things more unbalanced.
Regarding MAG, the low player base V2 wasnt linked to the character progression but to the game itself that gave no real reason except being a junkie (lol) to play it for a longtime. Or if you were a grinder who loved to show #40 veterans or if you had a team and friends with whom you enjoyed playing those games over and over. thus, imo thisl link between current player cap and MAG is perfectly wrong. Even worse, i tend to belive that if MAG had still offer progression after a year for your character, player base wouldnt have got low so suddenly.
Now, what dust needs to avoid is the "play for nothing" feeling. Thus my suggestion to have a way more constant SP earning than a massive diminishing return that makes hardcore earn 200 SP after 2 days.
As i always said, passive SP should have been the primary income of SP and active only be a slight boost. This way, grinders would feel rewarded while not punishing casuals that much. Just my 2 cent.
Finally, i never meant to trash you in anyway ^^ If it felt like it, well my bad.

The character advancement moves too fast already. I can't see my character needing to train after year.. So this game might be short lived.
- Active SP needs to be reduced. - The weekly bonus SP needs to be flattened out and last longer. (instead of getting 50k sp for the first few rounds then dropping to 10k sp it needs to be 10-15k sp for three or four times as long.) - For the people who really only have a few hours to play a week, the bonus SP needs to increased so they aren't left behind but they permanently miss out on some SP they'd normally have.
These changes would allow the game to last several years on our current skill set. It would allow for people to be used to a certain SP gain and see slight drops when they are advancing too fast. It would allow casual gamers and those with jobs/family to stay competitive which has been CCPs huge market for the past 9 years. |

idk about yall but i dont want MAG ver 2. I actually want a playerbase to play this game and not like 500 ppl all these **** ton of planets and if u dont got a playerbase what good is it?
EVE null alliances wont even care for this game till 2014 when 0.0 is introduced and only if it meaningfully affects their Sov then they will feel "forced" to actually be interested in DUST.
so what then? what happens till 2014? we just sit around and watch the already small playerbase dwindle off and the game dies? console players dont come back to games when they move on....just an FYI for CCP and others out there.
what works for EVE wont necessarily translate well to a FPS......keep this in mind when the game launches if it keeps makin mistakes and remember this when the playerbase dies.
Thing is, the current weekly cap with an active booster and the passive is already way above what you can earn in EVE on the same period of time. For shared skills, it's already unstable. Making cap higher would only make things more unbalanced. Regarding MAG, the low player base V2 wasnt linked to the character progression but to the game itself that gave no real reason except being a junkie (lol) to play it for a longtime. Or if you were a grinder who loved to show #40 veterans or if you had a team and friends with whom you enjoyed playing those games over and over. thus, imo thisl link between current player cap and MAG is perfectly wrong. Even worse, i tend to belive that if MAG had still offer progression after a year for your character, player base wouldnt have got low so suddenly. Now, what dust needs to avoid is the "play for nothing" feeling. Thus my suggestion to have a way more constant SP earning than a massive diminishing return that makes hardcore earn 200 SP after 2 days. As i always said, passive SP should have been the primary income of SP and active only be a slight boost. This way, grinders would feel rewarded while not punishing casuals that much. Just my 2 cent. Finally, i never meant to trash you in anyway ^^ If it felt like it, well my bad.
This is not EVE and PS3 players will not stay around if they do not feel the instant gratifications or real progress. Overall it does not matter about skills because dust players are not going to be doing stuff that EVE players do, so irrelevant. ISK sounds like the biggest connections so that's what they really have to be careful on.
So far they new gear for each level was a plus. Adding new content, new skills, new vehicles to skill into are whats going to keep the game new and fresh. I also think they should have went with a 10 tier system instead of 5. Feeling like your progressing is a must to keep people, not slow wait for skills to train. If there is something to do while your waiting for skills to train, like conquering something or gaining new types of gear or something else to do besides play for isk, then it might work. |

passive SP should never be the primary income imo, that goes back to what im talkin about not giving ppl reasons to log on and play.
already with the skillcap i play 2-3 days then basically only log on to check my passive SP. u currently get 0 incentive for FW corp battles as well other than some ISK for the corp wallet.
there will always be more and more skills added so ppl shouldnt just look at this list as the final list. also ur thinking waay to far ahead when u talk about shared skills....afaik DUST players wont be manufacturing things for EVE players and any form of DUST industry will be very simplified so for dust side industry u will most likely see all brand new skills and not ones already in EVE.
and yes we agree that diminishing returns needs to be stretched out better.
Laslty keep in mind CCP did say that while DUST and EVE would be linked DUST needs to stand alone as a seperate, fun, accessible shooter as well.
The majority of ppl that dload this game wont care for any EVE /DUST link they just want a good shooter that is addictive to play which currently DUST has lost that feeling. |
