I love LAV's. I am, however, extremely saddened that EVERY possible decent build requires Engineering V. If you want the vehicle to not explode from a single set of swarms or a single basic Forge yound, you absolutely have to have that skill.
Thanks for the informational fits. I'll have ot try a few out. Fitting both an extender and a booster are pretty much a necessity, it seems, in order for it to be worth spending money on. It's easy to fit a basic, no-cost Militia fit (for when you have the Onikuma Impact BPO, which I seriously hope we can still have in the full version) for riding around and muddin', but I find it extremely expensive otherwise unless you have both buffer and recovery. AV grenades tear things up.
I like having a setup with the passive shield resists and a similar (if not identical) fit that replaces one with an active hardener. The 'limits' on using it are really a pain, but you sould be able to boost out of an area if you have that much hate headed your way. There are just different situations where each is useful, and this varies greatly depending on map.

Which reminds me, what seems to be the best way of avoiding or surviving those stupid Precision Strikes? Has anyone got it down to a science yet?
And are those +Torque mods worth it? |

Skills boost the users stats. So if you have a skill--not a module--that grants a damage bonus, then only you get that damage bonus when it applies (ie: in your turret).
I really like that +Damage slaughtering build, might have to check that out. It's super pricey, but the ability to one-shot non-heavies with splash makes me get an evil grin. Up until it gets Forge'd.
The only thing that really sucks about LAV driving right now is the huge focus on skills that grant you very little for when you're not running in a vehicle. You HAVE to have Engineering V and you have to have Powergrid Upgrades IV. You HAVE to have Shield Ops IV and Shield Upgrades IV and Shield Management IV just to not die horribly in a single shot to Forge users, and you HAVE to be running in nearly a quarter Mil ISK worth of mods, too. |
