Corp mates and I have been discussing a Spectating mode!
Not only would it be great to be able to view both random and Corp battles. But it would be inanely beneficial!
When in a corp of 151 people, and 8 of them want a spot in our next battle, than things become complicated.
^This problem brought me and corp mates to the discussion at hand now.
ZionTCD would more than love for their corp mates who can't participate in matches to be able to cheer on our corp in battle.
Zion would also use this to teach our members, I think the Devs can see how extremely Beneficial a spectating mode would be for teaching purposes.
Id love a CCP Response to this, or any plans on making one. Thanks for your time!

i like it
abillity to switch which player camera u watch ( like in eve ships are followed by tiny nano cameras)
few static cameras to get a field vew of eveyone fighting over objective A
but this can also add problems
like having eyes in the back of ur head so to speak
example A members is alone defending B after a QQ battle between his squad and another squad out of this 4v4 he is last man standing no way ro rez anyone another squad enters the area unseen by our lone gunman but is spotted by a corp spectator (if using corp chat as u can now ) while in battle he can inform said member of the aproaching squads location giving him a way out or a way to get the drop on them while the timer of his squad spawning times out
if they do a spectator mode id like to see it like where the spectators room/comsis seperate so the guys in the match cannot hear the guy on the outside granted this way u would need some one with knowledge of whats going on in the match there to explain to the noobs/inexperianced members whats going on and answer any questions they may have |

Cool idea, but you guys do know that spectating is already on the list of content eventually coming? Later in the game's release, DUST players will go into space stations (Presumably where you live) and a special gladiator room will hold old-school matches for DUST players, such as Capture the Flag, King of the Hill, and Free for All. Here players will be spectated by both EVE and DUST players alike. There'll even be a gambling system for betting on teams or players! Sounds like fun, hu? :D |

sounds good to me
but still have my concerns if spectating were allowed in a corp v corp match
the space station games in a gamblers den sounds like a good way to make isk
(hunger games) last man standing sort of thing |

Very much want this!!!
No static cameras though, spectators shouldn't be able to see any more then their corp members can see on the battlefield... i.e. first person cameras only. |

How about we CHOOSE what camera angle we get, eh?
Think about it...
Arena style: See the whole room. Watch them all struggle at once. First person style: Toggle between different character perspectives 3rd person style: Same as above, only you can change your range of vision.

Spectating is on the roadmap. Not just spectating, but entire match histories. -Eventually- they want to make it so you can view past matches as if you were specatating one actually happening.
It'll come down the road. There will be a delay to prevent active spying & relaying of intel but you should be able to watch your broski fight.
Just give 'em time to get it all sorted out! |

This is a must-have for DUST. CCP sounds like they're already on-board with this, but the more feedback we can give them the better.
I really want there to be two spectating modes: A) Public mode & B) Corp training mode.
Public Mode
I cannot wait, prolly along with the rest of New Eden, to sit down with my corpies, pop open a nice cool one, and watch some pit-fights DUST style - maybe lay down a cool million bet on my man to win ;)
Really hoping this is 3rd person with multiple choices for camera angle - is that a ridiculous request? I'm not sure, tbh.
Or watch publicly posted gun-camera style video from matches. I'm really hoping you give us the ability to record and publish videos, CCP. Maybe charge a Netflix-style monthly AUR fee that lets mercs post and watch DUST video in their quarters(and on their VITAs too!).
Corp Training Mode
I think Devs and mercs all agree this will be invaluable as a training tool, along WITH corp battle simulators. AUR fee for battle simulators?
Want a god's-eye-view minimap in the recording mode, ideally with player id's(names or maybe just numerical tags)
Want to be able to place multiple stationary cameras to record action from various angles.
Would really like to have a player-controlled 'ghost' cameras where good players could man a very mobile, zoomable non-physical camera(you could make this look very cool) to record the action for teaching purposes.
Would like the ability to edit these, maybe annotate them and record voiceovers.
Ok, that's it, finished spending devtime willy-nilly on my ideas ;)
CCP, I think the primary benefit you will get out of investing in better-than-expected player/corp training tools alongside a slick recording/publishing interface is that in short order, DUST will become a source of very good fps tacticians. It's because of the real nature of the battles we will be having in New Eden - all bull**** will be dispensed with and what will be left will be pure war. This will create a voracious demand for good soldiers in our corps. We can already see it happening in the beta.
Dust will be one of the places ps3 players go to learn their fps chops. As developers you can't pay for that kind of reputation, but you can provide the tools that will make it happen. |
