This is a must-have for DUST. CCP sounds like they're already on-board with this, but the more feedback we can give them the better.
I really want there to be two spectating modes: A) Public mode & B) Corp training mode.
Public Mode
I cannot wait, prolly along with the rest of New Eden, to sit down with my corpies, pop open a nice cool one, and watch some pit-fights DUST style - maybe lay down a cool million bet on my man to win ;)
Really hoping this is 3rd person with multiple choices for camera angle - is that a ridiculous request? I'm not sure, tbh.
Or watch publicly posted gun-camera style video from matches. I'm really hoping you give us the ability to record and publish videos, CCP. Maybe charge a Netflix-style monthly AUR fee that lets mercs post and watch DUST video in their quarters(and on their VITAs too!).
Corp Training Mode
I think Devs and mercs all agree this will be invaluable as a training tool, along WITH corp battle simulators. AUR fee for battle simulators?
Want a god's-eye-view minimap in the recording mode, ideally with player id's(names or maybe just numerical tags)
Want to be able to place multiple stationary cameras to record action from various angles.
Would really like to have a player-controlled 'ghost' cameras where good players could man a very mobile, zoomable non-physical camera(you could make this look very cool) to record the action for teaching purposes.
Would like the ability to edit these, maybe annotate them and record voiceovers.
Ok, that's it, finished spending devtime willy-nilly on my ideas ;)
CCP, I think the primary benefit you will get out of investing in better-than-expected player/corp training tools alongside a slick recording/publishing interface is that in short order, DUST will become a source of very good fps tacticians. It's because of the real nature of the battles we will be having in New Eden - all bull**** will be dispensed with and what will be left will be pure war. This will create a voracious demand for good soldiers in our corps. We can already see it happening in the beta.
Dust will be one of the places ps3 players go to learn their fps chops. As developers you can't pay for that kind of reputation, but you can provide the tools that will make it happen. |
