I have 145,000aur(merc pack, $10 aur before multiple merc packs, 2 packs with tribute suits), spent less then a thousand. Using non isk gear, at 1.2mil isk and rising. I spent $70 total on dust, $80 on borderlands(soon to be $110 with season pass), I have spent more hours playing dust, so I say it was a better deal.
Most voice chat doesn't need a uvt. Corp, local, and other out of battle channels are better as text since it is easier to tell who is speaking. Corp purchased uvt is a good idea though, a uvt with x slots like the teamspeak server. Bugs in voice should be fixed. |

Buying a merc pack is like preordering a game, only much cheaper and with the difference that you actually get a lot of free stuff in adition to the game itself (in the case of Dust, this is the Aurum). There are people who plan to play this game frequently and for a long time after it has been released, people who don't have a problem with paying for this game just like they do for every other game they play. Buying a merc pack makes perfect sense if you are one of those people. |

- It would really be nice if you actually paid attention to what's going on around you.
- People aren't spending real money on the beta, they're spending it on the finished product. Any money AUR bought/used during the beta is refunded after every reset and will be refunded for release.

Oh I-¦m paying attention kid. So you send your money to CCP so they can fill they-¦re bank account while you play the beta. And the reward? You get the stuff you already paid for once the game is out... lol GENIUS CCP! This is the way to fly! Get the gamers on the hook and then take they-¦re cash while beta testing. Brilliant!!

What-¦s going on? it is only 20 dollars that you don't have to spend if you have a beta code. I bought more than a merc pack, the first to get into the beta, the rest I see them as a donation to CCP and their amazing ground breaking project. |

the original Planetside was 10 years before its time.
Planetside 2 is just Planetside 1 with better graphics. and I don't mean that as an insult. |

Gaming is a multi billion dollar industry. If you have an iphone or an android and play any games like Warring States or King Empire, you will find people spending 100s of dollars every month. Most of these players are adults and generally use these games as entertainment or downtimes. They dont care how much they spend. I myself have already spent $80 on this beta so far. And I dont mind buying the merc pack every month just for getting the Aurum and 30 day booster.
Now I wont say it doesnt give me a slight advantage over the no aurum users. It just helps me skill faster. But with all things Dust, eventually you do reach a saturation point and your skills will get maxed out. At the point in time game tactics will come into play rather than skills.
Aur does give you a slight advantage and any skilled user will use that to his or her advantage. But in the end it will not ensure you a win. I dont know anyone over here who hasnt lost a match yet! |

I understand that you can't see why everything isn't free in a beta, but because it's a free to play and CCP has to find funds to fund it they used the merc pack as a incentive for us to play the beta. So if what i'm saying is right then the building of the game has become a little bit less money because of the people who brought the merc pack. Again if i'm right then CCP can use the spare money to improve the game or keep the money so it cut the costs of production.

cash has been flowing in for years for development of this game via Eve online player community. The little bit of cash here and there from these merc packs and aurum purchases probably go nowhere into development.. atleast yet i would think, my guess though is that most the funds from them sales is headed towards sony for having it on thier network? don't know.. but I guess in a way that is still contribuiting.. so don't know why I even bothered writing up this silly paragraph argument lol |

I was going to start off by calling you any number of names, but let's just say, you aren't thinking it through.
Before you consider anything else about the Aurum store, foremost it is NOT necessary to buy items from the store to play the game and/or have a chance against people who do. The store itself and items from it aren't automatic "I WIN" buttons. They do help, but it's not gear that makes people godlike. Here are some things you do get for buying cash for the store (and incidentally giving a bit of cash to support the company.)
First of all, you get access to the Beta if you didn't have it.
Second, you get at 40% of the cost it will (normally) sold at when the game is out of beta.
Third, you can use the Aurum for weapons/gear that are much better than the same level gear much earlier.
Fourth, as has been said you get reimbursed every single time there is a reset and also at the launch. You can test many many things, and do it at a faster rate of sp advancement with the Aurum sp boosters for every reset until launch.
Fifth, you get NEVER ENDING blue prints of weapons and gear, that never run out, for as long as the game exists! Depending on when you bought a merc pack, you have at the bare minimum a free tier 1 scout suit and a free tier 1 smg. There were also tier 1 logistics and assault suits in a merc pack as well as a scout suit, if you were lucky enough to get the merc pack on that weekend.
The amount of isk saved over even a short time period of a couple weeks is big. Over the course of the life of the game that will be Massive. You will be able to save isk faster for skill books to advance your skills faster, and still be a tad more versatile/deadly than someone in a pure militia default setup.
It is, in my opinion, totally worth 2 to 2.5 hours of barely MINIMUM WAGE pay for a merc pack, buy as many as you want if you have the cash! You will be able to sell the bpo's and whatnot later on and be even better off isk-wise, or even give a couple to friends if you want, it's up to you.
TL:DR Tons of value, totally worth it. Buy, enjoy, and support the company in the process. |

Awesome So in actuality you didn't really want to know why we/people had purchased Merc Packs, and this was just you looking for an opportunity to flame as you are feeling a little miffed that the game isn't what you personally feel it should be? Well done I guess I still want to know because I-¦m finding this really hard to understand. I join a team of beta testers but when it comes down to it I have to pay real money to be able to play this game propper. Pretty sad if you ask me. So I-¦m guessing most of you guys are using daddy-¦s wallet for this? Who in they-¦re right mind would throw they-¦re money away like this anyway? Why are you taking part in this nonsense?
I spent $10 as a preorder for $50 worth of in-game stuff at launch. I guess you've never preordered a videogame before? |
