Think of it as a booster pack for when the game is released, that also happens to get you into the beta. |

- It would really be nice if you actually paid attention to what's going on around you.
- People aren't spending real money on the beta, they're spending it on the finished product. Any money AUR bought/used during the beta is refunded after every reset and will be refunded for release.
- Part of the beta test is examining the balance of AUR prices. Buying is being testes too.

I can feel that the entitlement is strong in you, young one.
Actually I understand what you mean about 'should be gratis for testing'. Personally I wouldn't have purchased items/AUR if it wasn't for the access that came with it. However I will admit that the Dragonfly suit et al, are actually quite nice. The AUR will also be quite handy come final release, and that is the key, come final release CCP owes us nothing.
I'm not a fan of pay to win by a very long shot (had a small part in the EVE 'monacle riots' in fact), so this is as far as I believe it should be taken, as an aside. |

As someone just mention, every wipe we get it back anyway,so its not like were losing it forever with each wipe, when the game if fully out, then it can be lost forever.
With the merc pack items being yours again at launch as well.
So spending money in the beta is pretty much investing/buying and testing gear and or exc.
So pretty much a booster pack. |

Like this: This game is second generation. To make progress you need money, they have offered deals how to get in the beta by paying, but the majority of players how got into the beta got it for free. I say that if you have payed for getting into the beta, or payed for equipment, look at it this way: You have contributed to a huge step in gaming. |

I bought the Merc Pack in order to get into the beta.
I say this with no shame.
I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced, and its the reason I bought a PS3 instead of a xbox360. |

Oh I-¦m paying attention kid. So you send your money to CCP so they can fill they-¦re bank account while you play the beta. And the reward? You get the stuff you already paid for once the game is out... lol GENIUS CCP! This is the way to fly! Get the gamers on the hook and then take they-¦re cash while beta testing. Brilliant!! |

So in actuality you didn't really want to know why we/people had purchased Merc Packs, and this was just you looking for an opportunity to flame as you are feeling a little miffed that the game isn't what you personally feel it should be?

Daddy's money belongs to Daddy, and he can spend it as he wishes. My money belongs to me and I felt the need to buy a Merc Pack. The reasons I have already explained. How does that sound?
You are obviously upset over the isk issue however providing feedback in the feedback section is how its done, not some pseudo flame thread.

The UVT is only 10 AUR at the moment, they used to mirror the cost of the Skill booster if I recall. That is 7k per week (with the new value). I am very much afraid they will be that expensive again, once DUST goes live. |

The CCP excuse the cost by having to provide server bandwidth for chat, and compare themselves to Teamspeak.
The problem for them in this is twofold. One, DUST voice SUCKS. It is unreliable and of poor quality. Two, On Ventrillo and Teamspeak only the owner of a channel/server pays a fee, though the fee increases in steps in they need more slots. And in Teamspeak you can run your own server if you want to. Here they want everyone to pay a not insubstantial fee to get a channel. |

My personal situation -
Bought two merc packs - about sixty bucks in australia
Bought 50000 aurum, another 30 bucks
Bought planetside 2 alpha pack - 40 bucks
Sponsored Ouya on kickstarter - 150 bucks
Saw a stack of psn cards less than half price bought ton of wallet cash - 125
And thats about it in terms of games entertainment spend so far this year...
Then, system enhancements this year...
Both ps3 upgraded to ssd - 200 bucks Px21 headphones - 70 bucks Razer hydra for pc - 120 bucks
Still under a grand.
Hmm where i live, a grand would get you maybe 2 or 3 good nights in the city partying if i was into that sort of thing.
Why do i spend on games, entertainment?
Job. Healthy lifestyle - no fast food, gambling, drinking in bars etc.
Spend most time at home, work from home, play a small number of games for long periods.
Look at two particular games, dust and planetside, as potentially being played for next few years.
So bit of support for developers plus advance payment yielding benefits is justified in my book.

Nah I get bored of each build before I even start to get low......I've always got plenty left when they wipe and then its all reset anyway, and I use AUR gear too....
Once the game gets better and becomes a long term daily grind, things might change....that's why I snapped up plenty of 50 dollar psn cards at half price....
For me, gaming is cheap entertainment without "social complications" |

-Access to beta
-Because it's worth it.
-Because it's worth it, for realz.
Seriously, if you play this game more than ten hours a week most every week, like I do, then $19.99 is worth it. I've played, and enjoyed (almost always enjoyed) the beta. I've put more enjoyable hours into this beta than some games I payed $60 for (and felt I got my money's worth then).
Further, the for realz, is because the $19.99 I spent gets me phat lootz that carry over into the real game and could be argued to be worth it on that reasoning alone.
So, there you have it. |
