Just wondering about the above. How does one target with it etc etc?

Anyone?
Is it a case of pointing it at the screen and having the targeting cursor move around with it?
Is it easy to use? |

ps3 came bundled with it. i wouldnt go out to buy one, very gimmicky. yeah basically a camera below your screen tracks the handheld controlers movement and moves the cursor on the screen, even when you hold it perfectly still the cursor shakes so bad it's impossible to keep the crosshair on target. |

Is there really that few people that use it?
Would the 'guns' work on the PS3?
I'm tring to understand the dynamics of moving things fast infront of the tv and how it would translate into movement within the game. ie I beleive mouse speed is restricted. Is the same 'slow down' principal applied to the Move and guns peripherals?

AFAIK the restriction is a cap on turn speed, so whether you use DS2, M/KB or Move you will only be able to turn as fast as Dust allows.

Just out of curiosity, would one of these gadgets help someone like me?
I have no problem with the turning speed, its the targeting I am really poor at.
I have really surprised myself by enjoying this game immensely, BUT I am just so bad at it. If I could find something that helped my targeting, then I'm sure I'd be playing all the time.
I am a PC man myself (EvE) and this is the first FPS I have played since my little brother spanked me at some Doom game some 15 years or so ago. Add to the fact that I don't play consoles much, means that my ability to play this game, on a console, with a console pad......... well, it doesn't translate from a PC very well to say the least.
Would the guns even work? and if so, how would they work? Do they work like they did on the old PS's where you simply pointed it at the screen and it detected what you were pointing at or does the 'move' thing detect where it is?
I'm not trying to get an advantage over anyone, I just want to be able to hit things |

Makes me feel slightly better that it isn't just me.
One thing that worries me, and I mean this as absolutely no disrespect to those that took the time to reply, but when you ask a question like this in EvE, getting very few replies and them being negative normally means that something works but no one wants to tell you so.
As I said above, no disrespect intended to Obama and Cpl Quartz, it's only that EvE has taught me to trust nothing.......

Is there anyone out there who has it and if so, does it make using the move easier? I know the move feels gimmicky, but to me, its fun experience even though I'm better with the DS3. I just want to know if I can improve my experience with the move. |

Well... to be honest I am interested in either answer.
I only saw the guns today, so my original question was how the 'move' performed.
In your case, how did it work for you?
Is the DS3 the pad?

Hi, well I use the move with the sharpshooter peripheral as often as I can, suits me very well, I am not very good with DS3 and the sharpshooter improves my game no end, love it.
Now there's no denying that there are still a few things wrong with the way it has been implemented in Dust but it is certainly serviceable in this build. Other games such as KZ3 and resistance 3 got it nailed and if we can approach that sort of implementation with customizeable button mapping then I for one will be very happy indeed.
On a completely different level, even if it didn't improve my game lots, I would still use it because I like the added feeling of immersion it gives me, but that is a personal thing although I know there are others that feel the same |

I used the sharpshooter the last year of MAG and use it now for cs:go. Tried it for dust and isn't implemented that well. I've always found it fun.

as far as aiming goes, it sort of acts like your right joystick and you use the nonchaka like secondary move controller to strafe and move forward and back (it has a joystick which equates to the DS3 left stick. So wherever you point on the screen with move that is where you aim and the further towards the edge of the screen your crosshair is, the faster you will turn.
This is where one of the issues with this implementation rears it's ugly head and that is deadzones, this is essentially an adjustable zone within which you can move your crosshair without the screen moving, some people like it big but it makes your turn speed difficult to control and makes you have to make large movements with the move to turn.
Most move users like to have the deadzone small or zero as it makes movement and aiming much more intuitive and quicker, unfortunately, Dust does not currently allow deadzones to be set at zero which is a pain but we live in hope!
Hope this has helped with your enquiry, the move controller is very subjective, it either suits you or not. There does not seem to be any middle ground! lol
Even if you like it, it takes many hours of dying a lot and experimentation to get used to it and set out the sort of sensitvity that suits you and many do not have that sort of patience which is a shame I think. |

I tried Planetside way back when it was beta (not no.2) and struggled with the mouse there.
I've always been extremely good ay any games that involve using a gun...... no whether that is because they are just plain easy to use or because I was naturally good at it, I have no idea.
Booker; a few more questions if you have the time to answer.....
1. Is general movement still easy to control? 2. which do you own and what do you recomend: Gun or Rifle type thing Gun or Rifle 3. What would I actualy need to purchase to make this work? (I own nothing 'move' related). 4. Have you tested it with different play styles? like the chaps suggested at the begining, will it work with sniping due to having to much sway 5. Have you witnessed the sway as suggested above?
Regards
ps. In relation to taking time to use it.... I'm a patient man, I must be to still be playing at my level of ineptness.... |

1. Yes general movement is a doddle BUT it is very different so you have to get used to it. The trick is to avoid large quick movement with the move controller otherwise you just end up overshooting then over correcting ad infinitum. Sensitivity is adjustable to your preference as far as turn speed goes.
2. You need a Sharpshooter. Full stop. Best gun peripheral on the market. Button mapping for it is not ideal right now but these issues have been brought up in the forums so hopefully Devs are aware. Customizeable button mapping would be supported by just about all Dust players I think so fingers crossed on that one!
3. You usually can buy the basics in a bundle which would include a PS3 Eye camera and move controller. You will also need a the small supplementary "nunchaka" controller and then top it off with a Sharpshooter. Just had a quick look and I reckon you could put that together for less than -ú90 in UK, not sure where you're from |

you added more Q's! lol
4. well it only sways as much as you do! it will move as you do, even very small movements are detected. If you were sniping a lot then maybe play with crosshair sensitivity so the shake is deadened. Personally (because I am a saddo!) I have my sharpshooter attached to a camera tripod, cant tell how much more comfortable this makes things, and of course keeps you very steady if sniping.....sway? What sway? lol
5. I refer you to my previous answer m'lud
Patience is a good thing here, and it helps if you suck with the DS3 because you have a good incentive to continue so that you dont have to suck anymore!
Oh and by the way, using a vehicle turret with move is soooo much better as the gun aim mimics your movements exactly and not the slow motorised movement you get with DS3 |

From your post in the other forum: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=364867#post364867
Can mention that the wife here tried the Zumba for Move - not too impressed, since it seemingly just measures activity (i.e. not that movement is correct, just that it is "in sync"). Kids love it for Eye Pet - that alone made it worth the investment! I've mostly used it for Sports Champions, which is great fun (the frisbee and tabletennis are kinda mind-blowingly good at tracking)
For FPS I've read that Resistance 3 makes really good use of it, though I've not really given it the old college try. In Killzone 3 it took some getting used to, but I wasn't really fond of the game from the get-go.
Absolute minimum is a PS Eye and a Move Controller, with a regular PS3 controller in the left hand for movement. This is going to be difficult and uncomfortable. Get the Nav Controller too, and strongly consider getting the Sharp Shooter - go for package deals! |

If you are considering the MOVE with current game build I would NOT recomend being a sniper. Although the guy with a gun build and a trypod may be on to something. The PS move is Hyper sensative, and while the game could and SHOULD take away the micro movements, your cross hairs will shake with the current softwre build.
It has seemed to me from playing this game that all PS3 players are at a handy cap to PC players, a mouse aiming while fingers turning is far faster then your cross hairs stuck center screen.
The Move frees them, and for assult rifles and with practice it can be fun hunting down a few ppl, but your arms will tire... |

Killzone 3's implementation is very similar to what we have in dust currently. As someone said above, using the move places a crosshair on your screen. This changes gameplay a bit because instead of the crosshair always being at the center and moving your camerage with every aim adjustment, the move allows you to specify a certain range you can move your crosshair before your screen starts to turn. This makes the move VERY nice for using weapons where you want to keep your eye on a certain area. Guarding narrow paths, etc.
I've also found the dropship flight controls using the PS move to be very nice.
There were some issues last build related to general aiming down sights and HAV driving, but I have yet to try the move this build but those issues are apparently fixed/better now.
Like someone said above, using small turrets in vehicles is absolutely -awesome- with the move.
Overall, it's pretty awesome. It takes a lot of getting used to, when changing from other input methods because it's less ideal when it comes to turning, so you need to alter your playstyle a bit. Move isn't really suited to super up close combat, but is pretty excellent at mid to long range! (And I still hate that they made the melee a swipe, because swipe gestures can kitten up your calibration after a while) |

Using the Move + Sharpshooter has been one of the best things I've done for gaming on ps3. Don't know how many ears I've been using the same input device, switching to the SS has made gaming a lot more fresh mostly because of the challenge and like someone said about being a bit masochistic!
People bag on the move but I find it so much fun when games implament it right, will be using it for Dust once it all clears up. Test it every build and it steadily improves. |
