As the title says, if you enable friendly fire, orbital strikes will have to be used with much more caution to avoid killing your own. This will mean communication with team members will need to increase and might encourage more people to use the bleeding mic as well!
What do you think guys? Is this enough to stop the orbital strike spamming? |

They will if the penalty for killing friendlies is higher than the reward for killing enemies.

Friendly fire would be very nice. At the same time I like how it took longer before to get a precision strike compared to now where anyone with 4 people in a squad gets one every 2 mins. |

People queue them up now to unleash them 3 or 4 at a time to turn a match, sooner we can play friendly fire enabled the better |

Agree totally. However you need to make the repercussions worse that just loosing more points that you get for killing the enemy. I'd say that if you kill an ally with an orbital strike you don't get any points at all from the strike and none of the kills are added to your k/d ratio, and in addition killing an ally takes 1 kill from your k/d ratio. Lastly, mark on the battle results page how many allies you killed. That way if it is really worth it to loose that one person for the sake of the team you'll do it and take one for the team, but if it is not absolutely necessary then you won't do it. That will straighten the orbital strike spamming situation right up. |

I'm not certain for how it will work, but last build when I was crashing my DS into stuff, a passenger didn't bail before boom. I swear I saw a -50 flash across the screen. If you got a -50 for each friendly death, and a -25 for each friendly assist. Tactics would change a lot. Mass drivers would butcher your end of match numbers |

This I agree. This could probably incentivize true precision strikes. However, it remains to be seen if people WILL react this way. Of course, this is what beta is about, to test the theory, and see if it abides well.
But yeah, eliminating 60-100wp for each friendly you kill is a scary incentive as it is. 0.o |

Very true, but with orbital strikes you can call them in on a huge gun melee and and not worry about drawbacks. Negating all kills and points you would have otherwise have gotten via that strike in addition to loosing points for the team kill I believe would be a sufficient enough drawback.
If you just penalize them for the one team kill but they get 6 more in that same strike, they will almost always go for it. Hell I'd go for it even if I was dropping that strike on my own head. And the issue is that they are used too much, so if you make it so that an ally death will cause you huge drawbacks, you won't want to use a strike ANYWHERE near an ally, because you don't know if they are stupid enough to wander into it. |

The problem with friendly fire is that some people will use that to troll others by killing their own team.
To alleviate that, perhaps some of the negatives go to the person killed.
start racking up the team kills, and all of a sudden you stop gaining any sp/isk for the match. |

I thought friendly fire was on?
I got cornered last night while falling back from an enemy group and had an OS so I called it in just in front of my position and I died from one of the blasts, still got 4 of them though.
Did something else get me? I'm sure it was the OS as the tally said "Snagman 313 died"

No it's not enabled, however you can suicide by calling in an orbital strike on yourself. |
