No offense, but it boggles my mind how you could be so foolish as to not put a space after that comma. And also how you didn't put the period inside the quotation marks. SMH.
It has always bugged me that the punctuation belonging to the sentence is susposed to go inside the quotes. I mean, if you are quoting something that doesn't end in a period, why have a period in there. English is bullshit. so if the quote is "then" and "than." does that mean that the correct sentence would be "..reason it is better than. the much.." |

My heavy dropsuit progression tree looks like this: Skinweave ~> Type II Advanced.
There is no incentive to move up to the more advanced suits.
My two cents is that what should change as we go up the suit tiers is damage resists, with varying shield/armor resists by race. |

Here we are 3 months and two builds. And no one has gone for a proto heavy suit since they took out the extra HP.
Why have Proto heavy suits if no one sees any reason to use them in their current state?
Something needs to be done to increase the desire to run a proto heavy. The obvious solution is more slots and CPU
Or higher HP or auto armor repair allowing the actual use of the low slots for anything other than armor repair.
We really need to balance out the heavy better, I see proto assault everywhere and even a few logi and scout but not one single proto heavy.

I like the idea of built-in armor repair, HowDidThatTaste. It fits the heavy perfectly. With a couple of reppers and no stacking penalty from the built-in repping the higher tier suits might become attractive. The nice thing about armor repping is that it's only an advantage if you play smart.
Your idea is more interesting than that though - if CCP designs a couple more lowslot modules it would be great for adding some variety to the heavy suit. A built-in nanohive lowslot module would be welcome, ofc, but i'm sure there are better ideas than that out there.
With a few interesting and useful modules, extra lowslots could be the motivation for peeps to invest the skillpoints in the upper tier dropsuits. |

I am 200,000 sp away from my Proto heavy, will have it tomorrow after downtime. Mainly going for it because i bought 400 Vk.1's when I had Eve money. It's true that the incentive isn't great, but this will all be wiped eventually anyway so... What the hell, ill check it out. |

I completely agree.
At this point in the game it makes more sense to use the best "value" configurations. Eventually when things start getting real after the final wipe it will be like an arms race. Corps will pay any amount of ISK for the smallest advantage. Some will pay to use top tier gear just for bragging rights, even in Public matches where there is no point.
This is very much like real life, there is no point in driving a Ferrari in Manhatten...but people do it anyway. |

Figured I'd chime in too, as a fellow heavy.
It's just not worth going past adv level type2. The cost of a spec'd up proto/complex fit, using proto suit and HMG, complex mods, etc, is near half a million isk. You just don't get that much more benefit over even just the standard type2 fit. And the standard suit, with adv gun, and complex mods will only run you around 80k isk. |

Heavies are broken, expect them to be deleted at launch - there's just no real way to balance out defense and offense between casual and hardcore players for heavies. anything CCP does will always seem to tip the scale in hardcores favor, and there's no real way to balance a fight between assault and heavy. We're either like every other suit and have multiple choices or we're the only suit that can only do one of two things. Defense and AV. But if that's our only roles - hardly anyone will choose anything but assaults. |

If they are deleted, I will be sad. I'm sick of assault suits everywhere, so I'll go back to being a logi, even though CCP doesn't do much for them either.
As an alternate suggestion for making proto suits actually worth something, what if they had better built in resistances. I don't play EVE, but from what I've seen different ships have different resistances to different damage types- what if proto heavies had better resistance compared to the other suits. It would make them able to take more damage, without directly increasing the hp. Although randoms would probably cry that it's too ha to kill heavies because they have so much health blah blah blah and get them nerfed again. |

Your argument is a good one Sota, but if heavies go something important will be lost.
I believe that balance is not the be-all and end-all that it is in other FPSs. And we've yet to see how CCP will address the hardcore/casual issue, but with security status, flexible contracts, matchmaking filters and gamemodes they've got a lot of tools at their disposal.
As an assault i NEED to have that Oh ****! experience of unexpectedly meeting a heavy and running for cover like a little girl. On a regular basis.
Heavies are one of the things that make DUST DUST. CCP is getting close to a sweet spot with the current tank/dps/cost balance on the lower tier suits. Now they need to tweak the top end and let us playtest that. |

I felt with the less armor double repair isn't really needed. I've got a 5 h/p repair and it's plenty; I'm usually fully repaired by the time I make it to the next objective. No clue on the shield reg, I was so used to the slow shield rep on the A class it was going from coach to first class |
