This is one of the main ideas I've been nursing for dust since I first heard about it, and now that I know that nothing like it is in the game, I think I'll put it out there. It's essentially a siege gameplay mode
Conditions------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Conditions
The defenders are not allowed to call in vehicles and due to the nature of the mode will not be able to leave the immediate vicinity of the base, but they can seal off large gates and doors, as well as getting access to turrets and small blaster/projectile "bunkers". The attackers are allowed to call in vehicles and are free to take up positions wherever they want on the map, but are limited to only minor orbital strikes(to add challenge) and have a clone pool, though it is much larger than the usual amount, say, 300 clones or more.
Details-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Details
With the base, there will be three sections: An exterior, and Interior, and a Core / central mainframe. The exterior will have high walls, turrets, and security stations where automated turrets can be turned on and off, and large gates opened and closed. In the interior of the base, there will be more cramped hallways linking between the usual rooms you would expect to be in whatever type of installation it's taking place in (e.g. Training rooms and command centers in military bases, drill rooms and extractors in a mining base, etc).
Inside all areas of the base there will be ways to sneak in and hack panels while the enemy are unaware. These can range from holes in the walls around the base to vent shafts to back entrances. When Cloak eventually gets added for scouts this will make stealth entrances an integral part of taking a base. As well as sweeping the hallways of the base for potential infiltrators.
All sections of the base will be accessible from the beginning, however, there will be safeguards to prevent people from just waltzing into the base from a side passage and winning the match in a cheap way. If there is a mainframe in the base, then if someone starts hacking one of the consoles a loud alarm will blare for the defenders declaring"The mainframes have been accessed by an unknown person!" Then putting a ping mark on the location of the mainframe room. The doors leading into the core will be sealed and reinforced throughout the game, but can be hacked and opened, or blown open by explosives. However, if either thing occurs, the same alarm will blare declaring "An Unknown person has damaged the core bay doors/ is hacking the core bay doors!"
Victory-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Victory
There are two ways to win the match, you can either detonate the central core of the facility, which is quick and good if the attackers need to try to end the match quickly, but will kill many members of both teams upon detonation and will damage the base. Alternatively you can hack the central mainframe of a base which will cause no damage to the base and save the loadouts of many members of both teams, but can take much longer to achieve.
In the center of facilities like planetary command centers, military bases, or the larger refineries you'll have a power core which the attackers will have to get to and destroy. There will be multiple ways possible. Shoot it a lot and it will become unstable and explode, but this will take a while. Use remote explosives to immediately destroy the core, but these explosives are stashed in another part of the base, which will make it take even longer. Or, my favorite, hack the control panel to disable the safeties, then guard the panel from defenders who will try and re-enable the safeties. When the core becomes unstable, time to get the f*** out. Both sides will have an small amount of time to just run before the core detonates and they are consumed by a giant cascade of fire and lose their layout.
bases such as extractors, mining stations, and smaller refineries will have much less action packed ends. The center of these bases consists of a central mainframe. In order to successfully give control of the mainframe to your corporation you will have to hack all the mainframe consoles. The number will vary from installation from installation. With basic Installations it will be 2-4 mainframe consoles in one room. In advanced installations it will be either 4-6 or 4-8 split into 2-4 consoles in two rooms next to each other. With the mainframes the defending team can put a lockdown on their mainframe which doubles the amount of time it will take to hack the mainframe. Attacking teams may also put a lockdown on hacked consoles which will operate the exact same way.
Extractors, small refineries. spaceports, and storage facilities will have only central mainframes as objectives.
Large Refineries, planetary command centers, and military bases will have both cores and mainframes as objectives.
Power stations (If there are any) will be the only installation that has only a core.
Feel free to comment with whatever criticism or ideas you have. |

gotta agree with my corp mate here sounds fun and a change in gameplay could it be for capturing ships as well? ya know sending mercs in to capture a ship for a corp not titans or anything like that just smaller ships or ships that are in tactical positions like a planet blockade or something (note: has never played eve) |

My idea of when it would be added is when we can have games with 24v24 or 32v32. And I don't think it should even start being worked on until cloak for scouts is added |

I like it. However two things need to be added... One. The attackers should start off with a ton of free vehicles that cost no ISK. And the defenders should have anti vehicle turrets on their... Castle.
This would be even better when the game goes 64 vs 64.
Make it so the attackers and defenders have a Huge vehicle battle at the first stage of the battle. Then make vehicles completely useless for the next stages. |

This would be good, but a troll/casual player who just wants to win could set the base(or whatever they are fighting over) to blow, killing allot of his own team+costing them allot of ISK in fittings and such, this could very easily be exploited by goonswarm and such if they manage to wrom their way into DUST (always blowing the objective in this game mode, so people lose ISK and ultimately the profits come back to them, when thier victims have to buy more stuff, as (if you play EVE you will know) they practically have a monopoly over the EVE economy)
i think whether the base is being blown up or hacked should be decided before the game by the contract setter, or even better, it could be decided and changed on the fly but ONLY by the contract setter (like he/she is giving the mercs commands from up on his/her spaceship as the battle progresses) |

I love this idea GÇö and this is sort of akin to Battlefield 2142's Titan mode. Probably one of the best FPS game modes ever.

Yeah, this was more of a "general guidelines if it gets made" post. There are still a lot of details that need to be nailed down. (E.g. Time limits, core/mainframe.) Also, to avoid the trolls blowing the core and killing everybody, my idea was that instead of the core simply exploding, it will become "unstable". That then sounds an alarm in the facility, and gives everyone inside 30-60 seconds to just sprint for the nearest exit and get as far away as possible before it detonates.
I also like your idea for having the contractor decide, but also change it on the fly. I designed the Core/mainframe thing to balance out. You can take it quickly but have to pay for the repairs and lost items if anyone gets caught in the blast (core), or you can take it slowly but lose minimal ISK(mainframe), so in retrospect it probably makes more sense for the EVE contractor to decide.
Also, about Goonswarm, They aren't going to last much longer. They're essentially Band of Brothers with a new name and face and look what happened to them.

I've heard people talk about boarding ships and I love the idea, but every time it comes up it hits the same brick wall "Why wouldn't the capsuleer just vent the atmosphere, or disable gravity". Capsuleers are gods on their own ships and I've been trying to come up with things to do to work around it but the best I can come up with is magnetic boots and tanks of compressed oxygen. It works in a pinch but it's like trying to fix a dam with bubblegum and duct tape. Besides, there are technical issues beyond the lore ones. Who will pilot the ship if the boarding succeeds, how will you manage to get mercenaries onto the ship that quickly, should they use AI? This might work though if it was for space stations instead of capsuleer ships. There's still a couple things that should be ironed out beforehand, but stations instead of ships would be much more compatible with a cross platform game. |

Is there anything that can be used to um put the capsular to 'sleep' for about 20-30 mins a hack or something? (note:once again has never played eve did get a 21 day trial from ted though :D)

I like the premise.
However, given the current state of "seed the universe" I think this would have to wait until null-sec and the second major update of 2013 before we could see anything like this. |

Good for you on the 21 day trial, hope you enjoy it. As for the putting the capsuleers to sleep. Well, it could be done, but I have no idea how. When your done with your EVE trial or during you could make a post on the suggestions board about this.

Again, my idea was that this would not be released until player limits were upped and cloak was installed. Also, I missed any news there might have been for the 2013 update, was something special coming out in it? |
