I use militia fits constantly, they're very effective if you know what you're doing. Milita does not lead to people quitting, it leads to people playing smarter. |

i'm a vehicle pilot, if i'm not driving or flying i'm probably running around with malitia fits playing the role of medic. i know i'm just cannon fodder, but belive it or not i can fairly easily hold my own thanks to the unorganized enemy team. don't get me wrong i die easily.... But you still have to hit me first, as i am normally standing behind a heavy or two with a miltia repair gun. LOL. i never quit because i'm out of "real" fittings. |

True, thats 400,000 active accounts around the world, and 20k to 70k players online on the same server at any given time. Not a lot of other MMO's that can claim having that many players in the same sandbox at one time. |

They're going to let people transfer money from their EVE accounts? This game is ruined. Not for a while, likely 6 months to a year after release. A delay won't stop the game from being ruined CCP stated EVE players will be able to fund players in DUST a long time ago. They had that idea in mind from the start. |

If it is a sandbox, making a corp sharing ISK not able to share for arbitrary gameplay reasons would be dumb. Money = power in EVE. In DUST, we will likely need EVE players to help us fund installations and PI to get anything useful out of it. |

But its subscribers are pretty loyal I guess, so what it lacks in broad appeal it makes up for in really being attractive to a certain niche of players. Anyway, to the topic at hand, gloating over the game being unforgiving and inaccessible is stupid. CCP should not make that a hallmark of theirs. EVE's opacity is a mistake. A major flaw in the game. Dust should be appealing to people whether they're good at FPS games or not. That doesn't mean sacrificing core principles, but it does mean creating stuff like "beginner servers" or whatever you'd call it, so that new players are not overwhelmed and dominated until they quit the game.
EVE isn't actually that difficult. Its simply different to the usual games. No 'levels', no 'clans' and different names for items. These are all good things imho. Once you have the basics down (3days tops) then the rest is fairly logical. There is always a lot to learn, as in any game, but to say that it is 'complex' is a sad reflection on some potential users. |

Over 41,000 players. That's over 41,000 players who logged in during a 1 hour interval on a closed beta with a crap build.
Now think how many there will be on release and in the first year alone.
PS, I have these numbers from a conversation on IRC. They are sound. Everyone in the beta got the 1M SP. Every character that participated in a corp vs corp match got the bonus...if they handed out 41,000 bonuses and everyone did what I did then that's just under 14,000 players during those three days of a 1 1/2 hr window.
Incorrect. Everyone got the 1M SP and ISK. |

If you had a character that's existed since the corp battle, you were supposed to get the bonus. If you did not, I would suggest you contact [email protected]. i, nor anyone I regularly play with participated in the corp battles, and we all received the bonus. Also, the post from the devs was clear that "all corps" would receive the bonus, not just players who participated in the battles. |

Oh you're just talking about the first one, not the rest of them. ::shrugs:: The point remains, this game is going to have a massive player base. It'll fluctuate, sure, but it's gonna be massive.

There have been 2 so far (back to back weekends), both going to all players. |

I don't have any interest discussing the semantics of what EVE is. Learning curve, "not user friendly", whatever the **** ever. Everyone who's ever played knows what I meant. |

However, I don't see the appeal in beating up on people who are worse than you. I like my wins to be earned, not handed to me on a noob platter.
Smaller player base = niche game = low population= server turned off because ccp arn't going to pay for somethning thats not being used. You can get away with this on pc because of the subs but the console market is very fickle Love the way people describe players as noobs because they are better or think they are. I guess we are arguing over semantics here.
Niche game doesn't mean MAG-style population necessarily. EVE is a pretty niche game and it has a lot of active players. CCP should strive to imitate the player-base of EVE. |
