Hello,
I just started playing this beta about 9 days ago. So far I'm very impressed. When I started I took a couple days to figure out my own play style, strengths and weaknessess. I currently run a logi suit fitted with a shotgun, repair tools, nanohive, and drop uplinks. I usually place my uplink at a key point on the map, whether it be near a highly fought over objective or in a hard to reach area of the map. I tend to roam in the near vacinaty of the uplink to make sure we spawn in safety. I have found that by keeping that spawn point secure I still rack up quite alot of kills. I typically land in the top 4. With how this game is built I see the potential for a lot of different roles. I find the lack of people willing to defend an objective the number one cause for lost matches.
So I ask what is your play style and favorite role? |

Logibro, good stuff. I am really digging the SMG this build. I find that in the course of doing logi work if I have to fight, its at close range so the SMG works out well for me. |

mainly squad support... assault suit with some variation of the breach rifle, nanohives and av grenades..... and i def feel you about ppl leaving objectives...., but when 15v15 becomes 100v100 or so, i believe this will be less of a problem. i just wish the nano-injector was more user friendly :( love healing teammates and taking down vehicles.... cant really do either in this build... but changes is coming my peoples.... With the lack of defense on a lot of objectives I am getting a whole lot better taking on 1v2s and 1v3s. |

Militia tank hero. Kill bigger and better tanks to become a hero. I killed a Sagaris in my Sica. But it wasn't very satisfying. Assault infantry is my preferred role. I simply have no choice. I won't be playing on release if that's still the case. |

I think as time progresses you will see lots of different team comps in this game. You almost need a little of everything in order to be successful. What really makes me happy is Dust has the ability to bring in non FPS gamers. For example my close friend is not exactly great at FPS games, however is ******* fantastic at driving games. He just started cruising around in a LAV, and the stuff he can pull off is amazing, a true asset to any team. |

I love being a logibro. And a drophip pilot (one of those that don't crash into buildings). I love tanks too, i usually use a blaster fit to kill enemy tanks. |

I'm usually trying to solo flank or go where there is no action and hack enemy equipment. I'm still newish and haven't done much teamwork play yet because most other players also seem to be "getting the hang of things".
So a big part of my load-out is an armor repair module and extended shields. It is so nice to be able to take cover and get full shields and armor after surviving a close call.
As far as weapons, I'm usually running tactical assault or shotgun wish SMG as secondary. |

I tend to play medic(logi loadout with injectors and a rep tool) and counter sniping on my other character. still cant get shooting down, my lag is terrible about 90-ish percent of the time. so I just pick up the people who can shoot straight, or just pick off the bad snipers who don't move. |

Im also new, 7 days or so. And OP i agree fantastic game with HUGE potential :)
As for play styles, i try to defend objectives. 1st toon being specced for assault carrying AR, SMG and nanite injectors. Mainly using this character to get used to the game.
Just started up a second toon to spec into dropships, i love the idea of getting troops quickly into (and out of) situations to take an objective and providing cover fire with a couple of onboard gunners :) |

A good dropship pilot is a must imo. I get the feeling some people are just scared of using vehicles. I laugh when I see a guy on foot running 500m to take an objective at the start of a match. |

You mean you don't kill everyone on board by crashing into the ground? It is a terrible feeling spawning in a ship that is going down. |

Haha no my ds costs 600,000isk and can take plenty of damage. Occassionaly if I get hit close to the ground it will flip me and crash but that is very rare. |

its a worse feeling to get into one as a gunner and the guy takes off, then 15 seconds later flies headfirst into a building, upside down. not so much a bad feeling as a "you have to try to fail that hard" level of facepalm. |

My main fitting is a scout with AR, SMG, and Gauged Drop Uplinks. I place 1 uplink in a well defended spot (or on a supply depot), then make a run around the edge of the enemy position and try to get the second one in a good spot to allow the rest of the team to come in from behind/flank with heavier more assault based loadouts. Once I've got my uplinks placed I'll engage the enemy and respawn with an injector in place of the uplinks. |

Communication is a must in this game. A group of average players with communication/ organization with come up on top every match. Being able to tell your dropship buddy to give you cover while you hack an objective or to have him drop in more dust bunnies to help is HUGE. |

Running Tactical AR-Assault But I do have inexpensive AV-fit, Shotgun-fairy fit and logi equipped with uplink and ammo.
Mostly keeping my distance with Tactical assault-rifle and taking down snipers who are in range (Tactical AR + light weapon sharpshooter = some mad and effective range for Assault rifle). In CQC I usually rely on my SMG and medium range it depends on what the enemy is packing (something like Duvolle non-tactical assault rifle and I'll probably be seeking cover pretty darn fast)
Ambush games I usually start with logistic fit and try to find a suitable drop-uplink place to somewhat group my team together and hopefully save few feeders from harms way. |
