Hey guys I recently got into the beta and I've been avidly playing as a pilot ever since then while experimenting with different fittings. They're certainly aren't the best, but they work rather well for me so far.
Militia Shield Viper: Militia Viper
Turrets 2 - Militia MI-1 Missile Launcher (I use the Launchers because the Blasters do too little damage and the Rail guns are too challenging for my gunners to hit anything with.)
High Power Slots 1 - Militia Mobile CRU (I'll likely put one of these on nearly everyone of my ship fittings due to the fact that they let people spawn on board) 1 - Militia Shield Regenerator 1 - Militia Shield Extender
Low Power Slots 2 - Militia Power Diagnostic Systems
Militia Logistics Viper: Militia Viper
Turrets 2 - Militia MI-1 Missile Launcher
High Power Slots 1 - Militia Mobile CRU 1 - Remote Shield Booster (Non-Militia repair kit for vehicles) 1 - Militia Shield Regenerator
Low Power Slots 2 - Militia Power Diagnostic Systems
So far I've mostly been using militia stuff just for the cost and because I don't have to upgrade my skills for them, but I'll update with new ship fittings if I come across a better setup.
Please let me know what you think and post your own fittings! |

To me it seems like the Gorgon would be better if you want a mobile CRU, since it uses armor tanking, which frees up high slots for the CRU.
On the other hand, the Viper might be better for speed, since it shield tanks, which frees up low slots for nanofiber structures.
You want to pick one type of tanking for each vehicle and stick with it, and the slots that are used will determine which slots you have free for other things. |

if you upgrade your dropship skill you can buy dropships that have CRU's built in to them and you will not need to fit one. |

Where is the tank? Seems like as expensive as this thing is, you'd want more defense. In fact, you're taking away from its defense with the nano fibers. Those four low slots are where your defense goes, since it's an armor tanker. Also a damage mod? Dropships are not really intended for combat.
There's no way I'd take a dropship into the air with that little defense. |

It's designed for all purpose use. If you prefer a min maxed machine its clearly not a build for you. As for the primary defense thats the guy behind the stick. |

Does the nanofiber speed enhancement make any noticeable difference in swarm evasion? |

trust me it's not worth it.. you get a measly 300 more points in HP by going logistic ships compared to a standard with CRU mod installed. |

you take about 3-4 SLs with a militia compared to 6-8 with a standard, these numbers aren't hard capped numbers just a general idea.. there a lot of variables involved |

yay! +1 to the OP for the first exclusive dropship fitting thread of this build!
First off, it feels like shields got a massive buff this patch the HP pool seems deeper then armors. Which is bad for armor reppers because they rely on a deep HP pool because they don't have passive rep like shields. Also I've noticed that no matter how many nano's and armor extenders i put in it doesn't change the speed of my dropship, it just stays at 10 m/s no matter what. Anyone else notice this? If I'm correct on both these accounts shield rep is defiantly the way to go not because of the speed bonuses but rather the deeper HP pool. Oh and one more thing.. It's my opinion that armor extenders should increase mass just like in EVE so yeah, velocity is slower but shouldn't more mass also mean less rock from swarms and other AA shots? This is neither here nor there of course ~ just wanted to see if others have noticed this...
Anyway here are some of my armor flavored dropship fittings:
-Gorgon//MAP (Mobile artillery platform)- This is my personal favorite because its dirt cheap (353 440isk) and highly effective if you can find a nice camp spot, mind you if your not sneaky you will get one shot. Get outta sight quick you dig?
Armaments: 2 - XT-1 Missile launcher
High Power: 1 - Crisis DCU
Low Power: 2 - Damage Mod 1 - Militia Armor Repairer
-Grimsnes//IE (incursion and extraction)- This one is built with getting my team in and out not as fast as much as alive.
Armaments: 2 - XT-1 Missile launcher
High Power: 1 - Crisis DCU 1 - Militia RDU
Low Power: 2 - Energized Plating 1 - 60mm Reinforced Steel Plates 1 - Efficient ARU
-Promethus//LOLTANK- I had to try this and I gotta say I survive waaaay longer! Resistances for the win!
Armaments: 2 - XT-1 Missile launcher x2
High Power: 1 - Crisis DCU 1 - Supplemental Shield Regenerator I
Low Power: 3 - Energized Plating 1 - Efficient ARU |

General-purpose vehicles lose to specialized ones. It's true in EVE and it's true here.
Fitting everything but the kitchen sink means you're mediocre at everything and not good at anything. That fitting is half-ass shield tanking, half-ass armor-tanking, half-ass speed-tanking. It's just half-ass all around.
I'm guessing you've never played EVE before, or are very new at it. This looks a lot like a newbie fitting mistake in EVE.
I'm trying to help you here--there's no need to be defensive. |

I'm sorry if you think i was offended or being prickly.
You're thinking like an RPG player; Maximize specific advantage for a specific scenario, the ensure you only engage in those scenarios. FPS games, even FPS with RPG elements like DUST, just don't work that way. Player skill and tactical awareness matter more here, strategy less so. This build works fine for me.
Since half the modules aren't even in game yet, its irrelevant to discuss any of these builds as anything but transitory anyhow. Ask me 500k sp from now and i'll be flying something totally different. |

No, I'm thinking like a 5-year veteran of EVE who understands how EVE-style fittings work, which includes DUST fittings, since they're very similar.
In this game, you have to specialize. The skill system demands it, because you'll never be able to max everything out. The vehicle and suit fitting system also demands it because of limited slots, PG, and CPU.
There is absolutely no benefit to having your tank spread between armor and shield tanking. It gives you less total survivability. Each vehicle favors one or the other (and/or maybe speed tanking).
Whatever, I'm trying to help and you're resisting the whole way. If you don't want to learn how to fit a vehicle efficiently, by all means, continue as you are. Just know that that is a terrible fitting for a Prometheus.
It's not so much about specific fittings as understanding the principles behind what makes a fitting good or bad. There is plenty of room for customizing to your playstyle, but you also don't want to work against the innate strengths and weaknesses of a given vehicle, which is exactly what you're doing. I mean, you have a dropship that's meant to be armor-tanked and you have a module that reduces armor HP combined with an armor repairer, a damage module where defense could go, and then a CPU upgrade that you probably wouldn't need if you didn't have a shield extender (which you don't need if you're armor tanking). That makes no sense. |
