not heard anyone in game ever but i only seriously started playing with the kb/m patch. Bought some aur a few days ago in case that was the problem, i've tested my bluetooth headset in the ps3 menu and that works fine (mic and sound). i'll try what's posted in this thread. |

Apparently the keyboard PTT key (Z) does not work. Pressing it it won't let your team hear you
The controller PTT key still works, though, v0v
so if you're pc gaming master race either turn free mic on or put the controller at your feet and use your toe to PTT |

Tactical shooters can deffinately be frustrating when playing with people uve never played with before but there are a lot of great gamers out there. if they're running around in circles dying and not coordinated at all.. they're a random. if there camping in the mountains and getting 0/5 every game.. they're a random. i will sometimes cry out "look out guys, this enemy team is not 'randoms'!" and I will also call out, "this 'blue' is not a random guys, lets put that 'blue' on our waiting list!" sometimes they accept our squad invite when a spot opens up.. if they don't, we move on with our lives.. but for the last week %90 of the time the blues have been randoms, and it's not worth the headache of having to listen to their random crap on our mics not only that but you risk getting a comms bug if you switch chat channels from squad to team in the middle of a match.. it's just not worth it to me and my squads to deal with.. sry if that offends ppl, actually i'm not it just makes me sound nice and Krip Prime, if you're tired of running with randoms and wanna try out one of our squads you're welcome to. if you don't like it we don't harass you for leaving it like some are known to do (lust4dust) we just go on with our lives and wish you the best after you leave our squad and hope you are mature enough to handle rejection (we care more about your attitude and mic etiquette than your score/KDR) we're not a corp, just a bunch of random guys who have added each other to contacts because we're tired of playing with bad randoms and getting 1 out of 5 games maybe that don't suck.. and we're also tired of elitists who fail to drop uplinks and insist on random spawning or who flex their epeens to us on random team games.. so we have decided to boycott it all and form our own squads, if that makes us bad guys or bad players then i guess we are, but we do things our own way despite the unwritten rules. the term random is not meant as a derogratory it's just the term we use to describe the player on the field who is not coordinated and is not worth the risk for us to stretch our necks out to, they'll just despawn anyway if we try to revive them or take off sprinting when we try to repair them. their failure to play as a team is not worth it to us.
I hear where ur comin from Baggins. Idk if you got into the recent Ghost Recon debocle or not but its a perfect example of what you are saying about coordinated gameplay. A lot of KDR buffing and lone wolfing (usually resulting in a data hack for the opposing team) instead of hacking objectives FTW. Seriously pi$$ed me off plenty of times. But once in awhile i'd run into somebody worth throwing out an add to.
Far as the Mics go I have been seeing the same thing. Ive only recently started playing (10 matches or so) but Ive never heard anybody using voice. This thread should help. The Mic system does seem a bit overly complicated. I can't imagine using the PTT system. Maybe it was designed for people with an extra finger on their left hand lol. Im deffinately interested in finding some players to roll with. I see great potential for this game. |

Yeah I'm kind of the same way, I'll do pretty good until I get into a firefight then it's time to hop on the "HOLY #*%& IT'S A HAV!!!" express. |

Wait. I'm still confused. So..you have to turn on the mic in options EVERYTIME you start Dust? Or only once and it remembers your settings?
I'm pretty sure I had my mic on the entire evening on, with the PTT option on, but I still heard no one else talking. Nothing in team or squad talk.
What am I doing wrong?

I tend to think that if it "isn't the most intuitive system", it's not fine. Intuitive UX design is important and it is one thing I wish CCP would put more effort into (as much as I love them). |

I'm a pretty happy random. I don't generally mind that no one's on the mic though, since I have a hard time restraining myself to using 'nice words'. But this is why I bought a headset with a mute button. PTT is a pain. |

or some guy bragging that he plays EVE to the 3 of us EVE players..
Fan of randoms, Tebow is not.
I play eve too! how weird is that?? lol |

sure you might get 1 decent random every 5 matches but it's not worth it to waste time on them..
who wants to talk to a sniper that's crouching, not in the hills, but in the middle of a frantic mellee where shotguns and assault rifles win the day right next to object A on the volcanic stage.. most stupidest thing i've witnessed
let them die in silence i say
Yep.
I turn mic on for Corp. squads or if I'm on a team with someone I want to talk too. Other than that, I leave it off, no pt. trying to inform people what they are doing wrong or how to "play". They won't listen.
Although... I have been frustrated enough with 9 people staying at A and not moving on C (3 base map) when noone was there to get on a mic and ask WTF... got silence.

Friendly little reminder: I see too few people with mics. Use team chat! Enable comms so you can at least hear other people talking! That is all. |

I'd like a symbol beside usernames in squad/team showing if a user has a mic connected and turned on (similar to MassEffect 3 multiplayer, at least on xbox) Not sure if that's a thing that a PS3 game can detect. |

I can't hear anything. The mic is set up on the playstation and seems to be working. but there is no talking in game. Voice Chat is on, but I see a red x over my talk bubble. Am I doing something wrong, or is just nobody talking? |

I've played enough FPS's on the PS3 to know better than to turn the mics on to hear the 12 year olds and other supernerds sitting there yelling at the game, or some moron with gangsta' rap in the background blasting.
**** no. I'm not going to use a mic for any of you. The only time I'll start using it is when I get into a corporation with people I know. |
