So I've decided to try out armor tanking in my dropsuit and, much more relevantly to this topic, try out Swarm Launchers. As I am lazy and have no desire to skill up Swarms, I've decided to buy the Aur versions (as it turns out, you only need Swarm Lvl 1 to use the advanced versions).
So far, the two tanks that I have engaged have all but melted to my rockets. The only thing that saved them was blind luck (didn't help Mr. Zitro for long, though some other dude stole my kill at the absolute last second) and some fair driving (had to ambush the guy from a high place so he wouldn't ride his tank to cover).
Of these two, only Phail was the one seemed to have a good tank fit (he didn't almost instantly explode to my AV grenades, unlike Zitro's), but regardless, three uninterrupted volleys made his tank go boom before he understood what was going on.
Now, obviously just two tanks isn't exactly the best way to tell if the Advanced Swarms will do any real good, but so far my impressions are that most people simply don't want to skill up for AV. (So many Militia Swarms, so many).
So how about the rest of you? Has anyone actually invested in Swarms and used them to good effect, or do you think they're not enough? I'd like to know from some first-hand experiences while I continue to test this myself.

Hell, until we start seeing marauders you don't even need to skill up. Possibly not even then, I'm not sure how much more HP a marauder has over milita and T1 tanks.I've been on both ends of a tank beat down with militia swarms.
When I see a tank on the field I immediately hop into the default heavy build and hunt it down with swarms. I can get it about half the time, and the only times I can't it's because my team was losing bad enough that I can't get close to the tank without encountering infantry and getting wrecked. |

Hmm. So what you're saying is that I'm over-prepared then. I will say that I've been much less successful with Militia Swarms (but that might be because I use the militia assault fitting, which can't tank for crap). I do agree that enemy infantry usually play a part in whether or not the HAV gets away from me.
Usually though, my Swarms aren't good enough to deal with an HAV that active tank the damage away and roll out of sight before I reload. My brand new Advanced Swarms, on the other hand, break the tank very easily. Maybe it's just a matter of circumstance.

I'm going for a scout AV with swarms and i would advise leveling up your pistol/smg skills first so you dont die ever 3 seconds. once you do that, I would reccomend skilling up swarms some. you may think it's a waste now, but when your fighting your first maxed out maruader, youll be thankfull. |

A maxed out Marauder will be impossible to kill alone (or, at the very least, very difficult). As for the sidearms advice, I appreciate it and I agree, especially if one plans to dedicate themselves to AV warfare. On the other hand, I've found that at least for now, my Toxin SMG is both free and capable enough to deal with most people (especially Heavies).
Have you used your Swarms, Randrii? If you have, how have they worked for you so far?
Also, a Like for your input. |

There is also the dependence on what ranges you actually want to engage from. For example a forge gun would probably be a better long range option, but also vice versa. |

I use Scattermind Swarms right now. Scattermind is the standard Aur variant, but i have SMG level 4 right now so I'm gona start levelling up my swarms now. As for my use of them, I am getting slowly better at getting rockets to follow enemies where ever they go and 8 times out of 10, I will kill whatever target I lock on to. |

I'm currently using a scout suit with the swarm launcher smg combo. I've got smg traine to lvl 5 and swarm up to lvl 3. I mainly use the malitia swarm launcher unless someone calls in a gunnlogi or madragar, then I use the advanced aurum swarm launcher to put the hurt on some havs |

swarms are a tad broken....there is no real point in leveling them up...they only ever get 4 per clip and the lvls only add dmg to the splash dmg.....so 5% dmg bonus to your 15 dmg splash....wow!! a standard swarm does roughly 1400-1560 the proto does 2100-2300ish that is without dmg mods.... the missle flight pattern is pretty bad with these maps since any small hill will block them or an incline....stick with the standard or militia, because when the BA tanks come....you will need a helper anyhow, you won't be able to solo them at all.
Swarms are better than forges ATM because forges have been nerfed to hell and back. |

got swarms at lvl 3 and got the advanced swarm launcher for AUR. Its basically a proto swarm for a lower lvl and it does shot 6 rockets. Stocked up to 120 of those things just to take out any kind of vehicle when they become annoying. |

We had a week before the wipe to test the new build.
Before the wipe I was using the prototype swarm launcher and they barely made a dent in a marauder. Advanced tanks took 3 or 4 shots but you can't take out a marauder without a lot of help(not even with a middling build on the tank, let alone one that was fitted well). |

Been playing AV on my secondary character, and had prototype swarm launcher in the last build. Had pretty nice K/D (2 - 3.0) due to the fields being literally littered with vehicles.
- Use SMG, its a deadly weapon in the hands of heavy as you can take a lot more hurt than most other classes can even dream of. sidearm sharpshooter is an excellent skill to upgrade as the weapons range pretty much sucks. Avoid Medium/long range confrontations instead retreat and lure them to you and take them down in CQC.
- Swarm Launcher: Don't bother using it against the troops, just vechicles. Vertical missile trick: Lock-on -> aim-up -> fire and the missiles will launch in to the air and dive towards the target possibly avoiding things that might be in the way on ground level.
Tip: use the more expensive swarm launchers only if you see premium top quality tanks or dropships. Most of the current ones only take few swarms to take down, but these beasts might take a dozen.
Alternative fitting: I call this fitting the "F'ng Snipers" and it consists of Heavy armor, Sniper rifle, SMG and armor plates. It's really good in the matches where the opposing team is full of snipers and vechicles seem non-existant. You can also change back to the AV-build from nearest supply depot if a tank pops up.
With a healer you could really annoy the **** out of opposing teams snipers, if you have at least decent aiming skills. |

Most of my advice has been posted already, I'll just reiterate ...
Sidearm Sharpshooter to 5 and a bit of proficiency is a must, I'd do it before starting on swarm skills, last build I could compete with all but the creodron assault rifle in my AV fit with proficiency 3, now however the SMG range boost may make it good enough at 2 or even 1 proficiency.
Someone said advanced and proto aren't much better obviously missed the fact that they add 1 missile to the swarm, so at proto you're firing 6 missiles instead of 4 at basic, so there's another 50% damage on top of the slight extra damage each missile is doing, so well worth it. That and the target lock reticule gets bigger so you can track faster targets easier without losing them.
The vertical missile trick I always use, though it's a little less effective this build. It also works sideways if you expect the target to appear from cover to the left then launching left will reduce the chance of hitting the cover and more chance of him appearing before the missiles reach target.
I also think the swarms have been improved in a hotfix since this build was launched, they were pretty tricky and unforgiving if the target even for a microsecond dipped behind a hill you'd lose lock, but now it's a tiny bit more forgiving without being too easy ... I like it now, however the vertical missile trick isn't as effective as it was last build, they snap to target sooner than they used to but also to a small degree they actually do it on their own if you launch directly, but seemingly in a random direction and can cause your missiles to hit the cover you're using.
All in all I think the Swarm is pretty good now, not too easy to use, but not too difficult either. |

Its all about the hip firing swarm luanchers on the broadside of the tank. + AV nades to finish it off. Scout suits the best chance you got.
Skill swarm lauchers everyone for the love of all that is good. Also AV nades.

Has anyone noticed graphical issues with the Swarm missiles this build? I've been on both sides (tanks, dropships and AV fit) and the missiles are visible if you're firing them but not so much when you are the target. In the last build it was not unusual to have multiple swarms "swimming" behind my dropship in a pack and they were pretty easy to see launching. In this build I haven't been able to afford many vehicles, but between those and the rides I've hitched, there have been several instances where a Swarm blew us up and I never really saw it. Just "boom" and fireball. I guess I assume it was a Swarm, as Forge guns just don't have the punch they did before the wipe. |

And judging from how annoyed ex-lav drivers try to hunt me down they can see where the missiles are coming from. I don't have any evidence other than that.
Regarding the OP... (Corrections always appreciated if I got anything wrong) A prototype forge gun (6 missiles) fired from a character with three complex light damage modifiers and with weapon skill set to 5 will do 3004 hit points against a target without any damage resistances (like Resistance Plates)
A Gunnlogi has 3600 HP to without fitting. A Madrugar 3800
A Sagaris has 4120 HP when it pops out of the replicator. A Surya has 4380
The new Chakram has 4120 The Kubera 4380
It would be nice to know the total hit points some folks have come up with in their HAV fits. :)
Edit: Feedback suggests a well fitted tank can get 14-15,000 Effective Hit Points (Hit Points after resists are taken into account) with 11-12,000 of it in shields (Obviously for a shield tank). Anyone tried an armour tank? |

To the Assault troops: If you see your teammate firing swarms or forge at a HAV - help him/her! Provide covering fire against enemy Assault troops. If the HAV driver was idiotic enough to drive their expensive tank into your area without infantry support, hose it with your assault rifle. Remember we're shooting plasma, not lead bullets. A militia assault rifle does 30 damage x 60 rounds in the mag for 1800 damage. A wounded HAV is easy prey for Assault troops, especially if a swarm or forge gun has stripped its shields. To the swarm gunners: Please keep skilling up so you can wipe dropships from the sky. And remember the vehicle carriers that bring in your targets are extremely squishy. Try knocking one of those down the next chance you get for double the fun. |

I couldn't tell you the number of times I've been swarming a tank, only to be shot by one or two infantry....all while two of my own guys just stood there and watched me get shot. |
