I understand this is a beta, but what is wrong with this game goes far beyond ironing out bugs. First this game looks bad Ive never seen a game with texture popup on a loading screen before. Second when I load the game I hate the little area you start in I know I can hit start to bypass it but why am I there in the first place. Character movement needs more weight to it feels like Im floating. The weapon zoom is the worst thing ive ever seen. Spawning in a group of enemies over and over while facing a wall, isnt there a way to make the game not spawn someone in a group of bad guys many other games have fixed this problem. I played a entire match being shot every time I spawned never could do anything this will run people off fast. The game in general just seems to be poorly done and out of date. Also why do I have to select my load out every time I spawn why cant I set it and forget it unless I want to change it. Hit detection don't seem to work half the time which should be the number one system in a shooter. Profanity filter filters strange things it don't understand what profanity is. I know this is a beta but I dont see this game getting were it needs to be to go to market. Its a outdated design and feels like the people who are making it have never played a modern shooter this game needs a major overhaul from the ground up. There is no way the direction of this game will be able to compete with other games in its own genre. The longer I play the beta the more I notice it is just a sub par product that feels rushed. I hope they fix it its a great core idea I know alot of people are excited to play it but there is just so many outdated designs here I dont think it will turn out well, I felt I was playing a alpha build not a beta. |

Glad I'm not the only one. I played it for probably 30 mins before deleting after a couple hours of downloading the beta and then the update which was larger than the original download. The graphics are pretty bad from the textures to the weapon firing. The vehicle control was sluggish to say the least. I think this is the second game I've ever deleted outright after playing for so short a time. |

Exactly. You played it for a short amount of time.
People are wayyyyy to quick to judge a game. You thought the graphics are bad now? LOL. You should've seen them two months ago, it was like playing a PS2 game.
Complaining about a beta is pretty sad. Since they've done a better job with the graphics during the beta, you'll probably see another substantial upgrade in graphics prior to full launch. This is a massive game, things need to be ironed out and tested, judging a game in beta isn't fair at all. |

The funny thing is: Not only are all of your complaints fixable, half of them are already going to be fixed. I know the graphics are deliberately downgraded for the beta. My assumption is that this is to reduce the number of issues related to graphics memory so they can isolate the issues with the game itself. Then when they turn up the graphics, they will be able to deal with the resulting problems knowing that they are graphics issues and not game issues.
This is a beta. You play it only 50% because you enjoy the game itself. The other 50% is enjoying the process--trying new things, giving feedback, seeing things change. If you don't enjoy the process, wait until the game comes out to judge it. |

There isn't any way of pleasing everyone. I just got into the beta yesterday and I am pleased to see how well they've gotten it polished so far. But, then being an EvE player I'm used to having to wait on things to pan out. People that whine and complain about this are the same sorts that come into EvE from world of warcrap or one of it's clones and then whine after 5 minutes about it being too hard, and they don't understand and so on. Of course CCP likes to make money, it's a business.....but at the same time they are willing to not bow down to the common denominator gamers that want everything now now now. |

First off this is going to be a long term game. Its not like other games. All the rage untill something new comes along. Also it is a beta. And ontop of that there will be periodic updates. This game will be constantly improving. Unlike others where ther make 3 new maps and then forget about it.
We dont need naysayers that judge a game based on how pretty it is and who cant look outside of thier little CoD box. |

Guys, you really don't understand that majority of people want good F2P FPS, not some kind of F2P MMO with shooting?
They want 'MAG in space" or "deeper Halo" not "EVE on foots". Is it really so hard to understand?
And don't bring EVE here - eve is a subscription based game with a very good community. EVE players are willing to pay for what they are getting, but DUSt is gonna be F2P. Big difference and IMO biggest mistake from CCP

The "little area" is called Captin Quarters, and it's your place to live. In the future one of it's door will lead to social area on stations, when you will be able to met eve players and drink beer with them on bar. Second door will lead to your corporation(clan/guild) hangars where you will be able to do bunch of other stuff :P.

I was asked to play a beta and give my opinion on what I found wrong to help the makers make their game. I played the beta and gave my opinion like asked. The graphics are the least of the games problems in my opinion, point is its an opinion and nothing more. If you are hardcore eve players and you love what you are getting then great I hope you have the time of your life. I do not feel this game is built well at its core I feel it is outdated as a FPS and unless it got rebuilt from the ground up I did not see anything worth my time, if its worth your time great have a blast my opinion shouldn't hurt yours. But I have been in a few beta's and I do what I was asked I report the problems as I see them. My opinion was not posted to tick off other players it was posted in the feedback section because it was my feedback that was asked for about the game. |

Greetings,
Caffeine Sweet wrote:And don't bring EVE here - eve is a subscription based game with a very good community. EVE players are willing to pay for what they are getting, but DUSt is gonna be F2P. Big difference and IMO biggest mistake from CCP Umm, in case you still haven't understood this... Dust is part of the EVE universe. In fact the two are tied together and will be until both games end. Considering that EVE has been around for about 10 years now and the subscription numbers are still quite respectable means that it will be around for a long time.
Next, EVE players are the people who are paying for this game to be created, we should have a very strong voice in what happens to this game. Yes, some EVE players are not happy that it is going to be F2P, but most of us are fine with it, we just want the game to get made and be playable. But EVE players will continue to pay for Dust until EVE goes away... Which looks to be a very long time.
Because this game is tied to EVE, anything and everything that happens in Dust will have an impact on EVE, so again, EVE player's have a very vested interest in this game.
Finally, if you don't want to play 'EVE on foots' then provide constructive criticism, not whines like the first two posters.

I don't think this is going to be "EVE on foots," but it's also not going to be "MAG in space." It's going to be DUST 514. You might as well play Uncharted and complain it's not Gears of War. |

Why should CCP make the game just like every other sci-fi FPS out there? Will they somehow suddenly pull the market share from every other game??? And do you really think they have the time and money like DICE and all the others to just make a new fps every year that's pretty much the same as the last one? If they did it would be just like any other FPS. After 4 months or less the console kiddies that go in for those would just move off to the next incarnation of Battlefield or CoD or whatever happens to come out.

Holy drop-uplinks batman, its like people don't know they have the ability to fix that in the game already. all you have to do is pay ~4000 isk and have a build with a DU ready to drop or spawn on the spots that are dropped for you and you'll be able to spawn around friendlies.
it's not that kittening hard, folks. if no-one even tries to get some sort of logistics going everything falls apart. its part of the game, not a bug to be fixed. |

And that 4k is a one-off cost, NOT something you pay per use. Although, that's supposedly going to be changing in a later build... |

Slight issue... the non-objective mode seems to spawn most people within sight range of at least 3 enemies almost every time... If they spawn in 2 seconds faster they can shoot you and you can't shoot back in time to save your butt. then you spawn in again and end up in same situation somewhere else on the map... See the pattern?
Usually in objective mode I try and spawn on an objective that is actually under hack, I select a shotgun fit that sometimes has a DU on it and attempt to clear that point before moving away to deploy an uplink for others in a "reasonably safe location". There's no such thing as a fully safe place to deploy one. That's why you carry several when you have them. |

Yeah its called a logi with an uplink I plant them but have noticed, sometimes they get used lots, sometimes not. Depends a lot on who is playing, do they wan to do there own thing, random spawn and hope for the best Or play as a team and join in with team mates to cooperatively play |
