Is anyone else having problems with being killed by "rail gun emplacement"? They always insta-kill me as soon as they have line-of-sight no matter how far away I am. |

Can it move? No. Can you figure out where it can or can't hit? Yes. Can you blow it up? Yes.

So basically you're asking for people to be punished for being a crack shot with an anti-tank weapon? At least that requires skill. Swarm launchers just hunt you down no matter where you go.
Also if a railgun hits you you're likely sitting still in the open. It takes about a second for the railgun to charge up to fire the projectile once the player hits fire. |

Problem? Not much. Clearly you have yet to be killed by one while hacking something that should be safely out of its automated range. I understand if I am killed by a player who is manning the thing but for an AI to be that accurate and have that much range is rediculous. |

I'm talking about unmanned turrets. Once someone gets in one ass is fair. I just don't like the AI being better than any player I have ever seen. |

yeah have it the opposite of tribes 2 where people used to shout at turret users because the bot aim was better. no way auto turret should be better than someone manning it.

They are able to be killed easily, but yea not only is their range a little ridiculous, but also they're range of motion. I was literally killed by one as I was under it halfway through hacking. That huge turret should not be able to look straight down and shoot at me if I've already made it safely there. And if so, shoulda blew itself up with me... |

So even though the sniper rifle is based on railgun technology compressed into a small package, the small and large railgun shouldn't share comparable accuracy |

The sniper rifles are rail guns, the really big ones have longer range. They should be very long range, they seem size of EvE frigate turrets the maps/draw distance aren't big enough to limit the range yet. Some players are better then the turret, had some trouble when Mr. Zitro was manning a rail turret with fire covering open middle of map, an objective and a cru, when the ai was controlling it I could make it to base to hack it. Zitro didn't give time to even spot the turret most of the time.
They shouldn't be able to fire right next to them though, blaster and missile turrets couldn't last build. Rail should be worse at close range. |

Railguns are meant to be sniper weapons, they've always been known for thier extremly long reach and accuracy.

They are not being snipers. I think this thread is funny.
People will complain about anything. Although I guess if someone isn't complaining it is OP then it is not balanced yet. |

Well the armor of those turrets has beeing lowered so you can blow them up rather quickly. Problem is on skirmish when nobody has a forgegun to take these things out.Its allmost impossible to sneak trough the AI. I might get standard forgeguns back just to blow them up. I tried to use a swarm launcher on them on a bit further distance and it did no damage. |

I agree with the general statement of "whiners" with one exception; If it is really the case, and I haven't seen this yet, that the turrets can fire straight down that does seem a bit ridiculous. I do wonder if that's an issue of splash damage though rather than an issue of aiming restrictions being needed. |

Weapons like that are designed to throw payloads over very long distances at high speeds. It makes sense that they can hit you anywhere they have a line of sight. Besides, you have to charge the shot first, and you can't hold the charge, so it isn't exactly easy to snipe people like that. |

oddly enough i've been killed by railgun emplacements in an infuriating manner similar to the OP... but never by the railgun emplacements AI. only ever manned.
it does feel pretty terrible though that a guy can defend "C" from a turret well behind his red line (not that i can see the red line mind you, but i went to go get that ************ and the red line killed me so it's definitely there) |

Well those guns need to be real killers because marauders before the wipe one shot those turrets ...
Also a rail turret has a large blast radius so they are pretty deadly but they do die on swarms as well, also large rail guns atm. have a bug where user is invisible which obviously makes those turrets pretty difficult to take over. Then again turrets are supposed to be something you fear not something you rack points from. |

Railgun turrets have an atrocious tracking speed. If you get killed by one then you were simply standing still in the wrong spot, or got incredibly unlucky by crossing its aiming point. If a railgun is killing you while hacking an objective then you just need to stand somewhere else while you hack. Use your brain and find cover. |

Honetly I tend to die from railgun AI more when in an LAV. The turret has a slow rate of turn it's easy to avoid on foot plus you can duck and dive behind cover. They need to be pretty accurate or people will just ignore them and go straight for the objective, which would make them pointless. |
