I think the addition of female mercs is a good idea. It gives the game a bit more diversity and helps to bring some of the female gamers over without alienating them.
From a game design perspective, you want your players to be able to see themselves in the game... in the role they are choosing to play. EVE seems to understand this as they have a very deep character designer set up on EVE Online... right down to scars and tattoos and changing bone structure.. and all this for just a screen cap that other people see. ... yet it helps the player identify with the character they are creating and playing.
As for Lisa Michelle... "Taco Drop" away...;) Although with your usual K/D you'd be spending far too much time playing face jocky... remember.. you don't wanna fight... you just wanna kill *laughs*
Anyway, I'm all for female skins/models... as long as they have the same hitbox as the males |

No, actually it has something to do with genetic dispositions related to the content of video games. Those with male genes tend to gravitate toward bodily motion, while those with female genes tend to gravitate toward emotional encounters. Tend to being the key words here, as this is a sliding scale with separate mean at said points.
Most games nowadays are shooters. Not much for girls to get engaged with. "its just another gun game". etc etc...
More than likely most games nowadays are targeting male audiences because most of the designers are male (and the tendancy to like to program/do math seems to be quantified as a male trait as well, hence the good female programmers tend to swerve toward the male side of the curve similar to many female gamers)
-----------If you actually want girls to play games (from the female side of the curve, of course there are guys on that side too), then you need more creativity in your games... such as Minecraft has. Its incredibly simplistic, blocky, low-graphic, and slow, yet has a large attraction to the female demographic, mostly because it permits them to differ from the "male norm" of games. AKA: They can build a house, invite friends to a community, make a "family", start a "farm" yadda yadda,.. or even at times go on a light adventure.
-----then off to the topic of the skimpy clothing. While it is true that many women playing games may feel threatened or insulted by video game characters being exaggerated, there are also those who feel deficient who actually play with the characters as a kind of consolation, as well as those who play with the characters, just so they can play with the minds of guys they meet. .... the variations are quite diverse...so I'll just end that bit here.
Anyway, I don't think many female gamers would even be looking toward a shooter like this unless they already liked shooters, and more than likely they're expecting the game's designs to have some kind of exaggeration to them. so if the game is one they want to play, its highly unlikely that the designs will scare them off.
Other than that, if the female avatar annoys them, they can always draw a guy. |

Considering what you can do with avatar creation in EVE, I'm sure you'll be able to make female characters in the full game. I'm guessing that the character models in-match won't reflect anyone's gender, however, considering the lore behind it. |

I hear that most don't announce it because of all the harrasment they get from boys. I could also see the white-knight kids out there annoying the heckles out of girls too. I'm hoping we have the female characters out now. I'm pretty sure CCP said that there won't be very much difference to them. No bikini body armor which is nice. Eve's new character creation system worked out pretty well. You get a good variety of looks without anything being particularly slutty... I just hate how the characters are forced in the high-heel position. Yea i honestly dont care if your male or female.I have like 3 friends on PSN that are girls and i honestly dont care about my friends gender.Anyway Im pretty sure that about 50% of people we met online are female.50% of invisible girls ill tell you that. |
