This is just an assumption but Im thinking that the clone templates are some lost tech from the first Jovian empire.Im just confused as to why I dont see them as a race in New Eden anymore, but more specifically why there not a choice here. There a reason for that? Can you post a link perhaps into the lore?Did they all finally succumb to there disease?
PS I dont play EVE so IDK if Jovian can still be chosen as a race choice.I was just wondering thanks. |

I think that personally, Jovian tech could be used as a rare drop for PVE missions, like an extremely rare Jovian assault rifle with only 20 runs of its blueprint. |

In Eve, Jovians were never playable by anyone but the developers. I get the feeling we'll never get to play them in Dust. |

don't need to play them but get to play against them would be fun. Say 6 devs to 12 mercs? heck the GM's and devs want to have fun too why not allow them to be able to fight against us in a upward fight ? make it less of them to more of us to even the odds so we can have a fighting chance to win? |

Jovians are very insular and not involved with the war between the four empires. The connection Dust has to Jovians isn't the clone template, just the technology. So yeah, Jovians are still hanging out in Jove space dying from a disease they don't know how to cure.

It's mainly because Jovian stuff not being a part of the regular game means they're spending time creating a bunch of assets that they'd only use as a joke. It'd also be pretty much impossible to make it an event that would mean anything to more than a handful of players.
So it's just kind of a wasted effort. A bunch of work for basically no payoff. Wouldn't you rather they spent the time making new weapons and armor you could buy for yourself at some point, rather than on stuff you'll never get to use and probably never even get to see? |

I think that the Jovian, are responsible for the Augmentation technologies in New Eden, as well as the clone technology. They have created different implants that increase base stats like intelligence, memory and charisma. The stories tell us that the Jovian, in the pursuit of bettering themselves, went mad and closed of a big chunk of space by destroying some jump gates, and that they are continuing to experiment with improving their bodies and minds.
The Jovians cannot be chosen as a race in either EVE or DUST514.

Jovian tech is OP, a relative handful of them kicked the collective ass of the largest empire (Amarr) in all of EVE in a decidedly one-sided fight.
I hope that technology never sees the light of day for player usage in DUST. |

The sleepers are either ancestors of the jove or an off branch. The book isn't exactly clear.
That and Tony Gonzales read the annotated version of the eve backstory and missed huge chunks hidden in the game, contradicting some and ignoring others. |

The cloning implant enabling DUST Mercs to resurrect, is Sleeper technology, and there are chronicles suggesting it isn't safe.

plused ya In EVE the "ancient bad arses" are the Sleepers. EVE players encounter them by traveling through wormholes.
The Jovians are a lot more terrifying because they are insanely powerful (ex: Battle of Vak'Antioth) and exist now. They are similar to the Vorlons from Babylon 5 in regards to technological superiority and reclusiveness. They live out in their own system and monitor everything. No one ventures there. And if a Jove ship appears in normal space it takes overwhelming odds to take it down - and that's if it's a small Jove ship.
The lore in EVE is crazy in depth and pretty frightening. If you're ever bored read the EVElopedia & EVE Fiction. Each race has huge amounts of lore attached to them and they are all great reads. |

Essensialy it was made from sleeper technology. It is created from implants they use to exist in a artificial world created for them by the "Architects" who made it and are the guardians and guiders of the sleeper race. It has since been reverse engineered to be used with the current clones used by dusties it used to kill the sleepers as they must have a real body to exist in the virtual world. Ps the empress of Amarr has a sleeper inside her hence why she is so powerful. to the best of my knowledge this is all true |

So we have one recluse race which is scary powerful, bordering on insanely over powered. And another equally scary powerful, but no longer recluse...

Mercs use reverse engineered Jovian/Sleeper tech (read Templar One) unless you are Amarr in which case its stolen Jovian/Sleeper tech
Therefore we are all Jovian! :wishgranted: |
