I would like to see a new vehical type reminiscent of the attack chopper from the battlefield series. I like the idea of having an air vehical devoted to having a strong offense able to support infantry with large amounts of fire power. Maybe sacrifice some of the shielding or armor of the vehical as a balance which would give it more speed than a drop ship. It is a logical step, since the development of helicopters it wasn't a large leap to create an attack helicopter after the transport helicopter. Since it only took 3 years to develop the cobra after the invention of the huey.
It would also help diversify the roles pilots could have on the battlefield, because right now they don't feel like they have a large role. Right now drop ships don't feel right as a fire support ship largely because it is extreamly difficult to get gunners to actually utilize the turrets. |

Jets are rumored to come in, for air superiority. I can imagine attack helis would come in too.
Dropships are meant for infantry support, rather than fire support. By that, I mean transport and spawning. |

Thank god for that, CCP would be in good form if this became the case, there are already a heavy abundance of suicide bombers.
Looking forward to some form of mobile command site drop too, i.e a heavily fortified bunker that can be delployed in the middle of the map. becomes a spawn point and a makeshift new objective. |

In current build i think the game is not ready for such a addition not enough AA weapons yet mabye some tank mountable AA weapons first as a attack chopper would just dominate the battlefield
iam all for the idea of putting them in just wait till we have some decent AA capabilities before getting something that can rain hel down upon us |

It's not just the current status of weapons. The maps aren't ready for such things as gunships or jets yet. We've basically playing the final stages of a long attack now. The mainly infantry and CQC vehicle stage where you finish up after all the previous stages. The previous states are slower and involve advancement, artillery, aerial bombardment, proper use of scouts etc'. Those require an actual chain of command and, or course, much larger maps. When that happens there will be room for more strategic weapons such as jets and gunships. |

best guess is the maps we are playing either aren't designed for this stuff or have yet to be moded for them. Maps are simply too small to effectively drive a jet or drop down a bunker. We are effectively playing the 'Speedball' games till the larger maps that play 40 people come out.
at this point are jobs are to test the basic gear and tech. Upgraded stuff tend to just be new coats of paint (so to speak), It also helps control the elite group to be only a certain amount higher than the mere mortals. Since the game is very buggy in this build its less probable that new tech will be implemented.
As much as I want to see some new awesome hyper-jets... Its unlikely my wish will be granted till next build or the August patch... |

... and a greater draw-distance I fervently hope.
It wouldn't be hard to do a Dship with greater speed (or heavier armour) and some heavy firepower - a long-range HMG on one side and a forge gun on the other would be a good start, AC-130 style. And obviously a pilot-controlled, nose-mounted cannon or we'll never hear the end of it.

They werent removed, just not added, along with a whole lot of other stuff like commander mode and conquest. The VTOL fighters were pretty awesome, and theres a model of one on the table in your Merc Quarters. Im hoping theyre relatively expensive, moreso than tanks, however that they are pretty amazing, the top of the food chain. |

Greetings,
Until CCP starts releasing larger maps, like the old Craterlake Biomass and Craterlake Communication maps, Jets or Jet fighters are effectively useless, Gunships, Dropships, and Attack ships are another story. And CCP could easily make these work within the current frame work. For those who don't understand the difference, a Dropship is primarily a squad transport ship with support for two door gunners, a Gunship would be about 1/2 the size, but have only a single pilot controlled gun but roughly twice the shield or twice the armor or half again of each depending on the race and moves about the same speed as a HAV. An attack ship is about half the size of the Dropship, but mounts two pilot controlled guns and has 1/2 the shield or 1/2 the armor or 1/4 the shield and armor depending on race and moves about the same speed as an LAV.
Neither the Gunship nor the Attack ship would carry passengers. |

If they are just one manned you have too much of them in the air. They should have at least two armed positions. And if there are more aircraft classes especially dogfighters they have to have a look on the air too thus they were not so overpowered.
