Wasn't sure if they where going to level cap us at a certain amount of SP gained or not i would hope not but not sure if any one was savvy to this information or not. I am not in favor of a level cap by the way. |

There has never been a "level cap" in EVE, I highly doubt there will be one in DUST. |

Short answer no. Theyll keep adding more skills than you could possibly keep up with. |

Level cap is 80, at which point you get your quest for your epic space pony. There is a epic 1.5 quest that gives you sparkles on your space pony. The epic 2.0 upgrades your space pony to an Ibis, at which point you are converted to an EVE account.
No, no SP cap. Years of things to train into and more will come, just as in EVE. One of the reasons for multiple toons is so you can specialize your role instead of trying to train it all.
Training every current skill to five is supposed to take seven years. |

No level cap. You will need 7 years to train all the skills to LV5. But they will introduce more skills and stuff, so MAYBE in 15 years we will train all the skills :P |

Knowing what little I know about EVE, I'm pretty sure that we'll see them stop supporting the game before we see someone reach any kind of cap. |

eventually you'll cap out in a given role, can't train AR proficiency to 6 you know?
but even then there's nothing to stop you from training for something ELSE.
so it is conceivable that you will hit a "cap", but then you can just train sideways to make yourself more versatile, if not necessarily more powerful in that one original aspect. |

You can only spend so many SP before a given role is maxed out. Then you get to train for another role (or save your SP for when your chosen role gets expanded in a future update, of course) |

Martin0 Brancaleone wrote:You will need 7 years to train all the skills to LV5. Were this EVE, then yes 5 years sounds about right, but at the current skill gain rate, it looks like someone could get all of the current Dust skills to 5 in about 6 months. Of course, this is only a small portion of the skills we (the EVE players) suspect they are going live with.
Last time I checked (18 months ago) EVE skills cover around 500M SP, so roughly 400 months to get all skills to level 5... And that is with +4 implants and neural remaps. Of course they are doing the ship rebalancing now, which will add a whole new group of skills soon.

We are currently gaining SP 4x faster than normal and i read the 7 years thing in a devblog or something like that.

I understand that, but forgetting the 4x multiplier right now, we are only getting SP on 3 of 7 days, we don't have skills spikes or skill boosters in place and even with that there are already people with well over 15M SP already, I am over 10M SP myself and I am a shittastic FPSer... And this build only launched 3 weekends ago (call it 10ish days play)... In EVE time, that is roughly 1 years worth of SP gain and when the 4X booster is removed and the servers are opened full time with boosters, clusters, and spikes, that is about 3 - 4 weeks worth of play.

For this Beta, there of course is a LVL CAP ceiling of sorts,
full game will probably have a "Skill Decay" based on your game skill ( K/D, Wins/Loses, Territories Controlled, Overall Faction Strength, etc)
So effectively there will be no such lvl cap much like EVE. |

I tried to add up all the skills in EVE, and gave up half way through. At that point I've already gotten to 15 years...
I've played for about 4 years now, and have 77 million SP on my industrial. I know of accounts with in excess of 180 million SP, and others that have played for 9 years in EVE and no where near hitting everything at level 5 |

EVE, and by extension DUST is a game where you can never be perfect at everything. You are forced to make choices. |

Once the basic game is completed and married to EVE, assuming they do it as they have described in various blogs, EVE will continue to need Dust bunnies, and so we will continue to pay for Dust maintenance and upkeep as long as EVE is around. EVE is different from almost any game out there because EVE is not designed with planned obsolescence. This is why there has never been EVE II or EVE 2011, or EVE: The Bankers Panty Raid... |

Not to burst any of the mega bubbles you guyz are making.
But the only way this game will survive 10 years if its made into at least 3 other games over that time. No Console game has lasted more than 3 years. It officially becomes a graveyard game after that.
Dust 514 make be exceptional game thus far, but 10 years is a long time to be using the same forge gun. Us console users are fical b*tches, we have new games coming out every few weeks..
Still, I give me best to Dust 514, lets hope its goina be as good as we hope. |

The non-EVE players may leave Dust altogether, but remember that EVE is paying for this game and we will continue to pay for this game as long as EVE exists. So while the non-EVE players may go away and the Dust battle moons may be really low on population, the EVE Pod Pilots / Dust Bunnies will still be there fighting to maintain / gain sovereignty. CCP has stated many times that they intend to make Dust an integral part of sovereignty warfare in EVE, which means we will need Dust bunnies as long as EVE exists. |

CCP isn't paying for everything I hope, if so they are screwed royally if this game doesn't super excede expectations.
This game by its nature will survive by players buying AURUM, so you rich EVE players better get on that. |

The level cap is time. There will be no hard SP limit. Although the may introduce clones SP saved limits, like they have in eve online.

Not likely, its one of the things being considered for removal in eve online as an unnessecary evil these days. Instead have clones which do the exact opposite bodies that increase sp gain rates instead. So that older players that can afford it can continue to PVP and keep thier SP gains the same while those really old and poor veterans (they exist) can continue to enjoy the game and engage in pvp without so much fear as before. |

As of the most recent expansion a few months ago, CCP has put out 17 expansions for EVE, that is more than Sony put out for EQ, more than Blizzard has put out for WoW. Unlike the CoD series, BF series, Madden Football series, etc, all 17 of these expansions are fully integrated to the main game, as such you don't get one expansion and only have access to that content and the original, you get access to everything that has come before... And you retain all of your character's stats, abilities, assets, etc. |
