On the topic of headsets, but a slight tangent..
How do you get voices to come through your headset rather than the TV?
I can talk to people, but I find it quite off putting to have it through TV speakers. Have looked for option somewhere but cannot seem to find it. |

why because turttles are made far more cheaply for the same $$$ as tritons
i will throw in soround sound makes all the difference ingame i bought my soround sound rocketfish just for dust. i can always upgrade to one of those better ones down the road when i need to but i like mine its light, durable, crazy ass long cord(theres wireless too), on mic audio control, and they are comfy like 80" studio headset :) |

After reading through this thread I see that I'll be stuck without comms for DUST forever. The cheapest mic on a PC costs the same as a Hot Dog. The cheapest USB thing which works on PS3 costs almost 150% of what I paid for the merc pack. Damn consoles. |

Astro A50s FTW! if you have the money to spend on them of course. Also unless you plan on going hard in dust and playing lots of comp in this and other games there isnt really much point in owning a pair :) |

I used to have triton ax pros but they fell apart on me. i have two pairs of ax pros in a draw at home covered in duct tape where they have just broken, electronically and aesthetically. Do not buy!! Astros however
Yeah dude, for a while I had duct tape all over them. I looked like a homeless man playing video games.
The sound was great but they were manufactured horribly. The triton mixamp is a bit much as well. |

I use the official Playstation Bluetooth Headset. It's great and I really love it. Also comes with a very convenient charging station.
I use both, hardly ever use the blue tooth one it's mainly a backup for the ps3 headset. which does have a killer battery life for what it offers. the mic on ps3 wireless headset seems a little flimsy to me but have never broke it. the buetooth is way better for just cheap need now type thing and holds a decent charge. can be sensitive and pic up everything. the head set has great sound plus a slider for more game less voice (mixer) plus it can be used with your PC also.
turtle beaches are great and so are the tritton's but every time i have ones with wires, it never fails a dog or kid comes barreling through the living room and let's just say it doesn't end well for something or someone.
hope that helps. |

the official sony bluetooth have excellent qulaity and noise cancellation. but be sure to get the newer model since my first version I own features the flaw of having a rectangular object in your ear.
The new models for the same cost are actually designed to be comfortable for more than 5 minutes. |

Not true. You CAN use a PC mic on a PS3. Just the same that you can use a Bluetooth headset for your PHONE on your PS3. The thing is, what type of quality do you want. Many of the mics you see people taking about are HIGH-END gaming headsets. As I stated eairler, I still use my Official PS2 (yes P S 2) USB corded mic and it works very well; I like it cause it has a mute button and volume controls. I bought that mic back-in-the-day for $20. I also use 3 other USB PC microphones. I also have a Bluetooth headset for my phone that I use and it works very well also (paid $15 for it); thing is this does not have a mute button (which I perfer).
here is something you can also look at: http://www.gamestop.com/accessories/us-army-bluetooth-throat-mic-headset/100027?ref=recpdp&cross=800307
That mic only costs $25 (online special for gamestop is normally $35) and is a decent microphone. You don't need to spend $100 - $200 on a mic.
or this one: http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/accessories/ps3-usb-chat-headset/99611
Again $25 and it's an offical Sony branded USB headset; so your limited by the cord, but you know it will work.
If you already have a USB / Bluetooth PC / Phone headset, plug it in to your PS3 and it will 99% of the time probably work. I haven't run across very many that just flat out don't work. The only difference is, what type of quality do you want, and what other "options" (mute, volume control, etc...) do you want with it. |

Thank you for the recommendations, but as I said. That's more than the whole DUST game cost. $25-$30 plus international shipping is a lot. That's why I say "damn consoles" because it is almost impossible to find a cheap no-name USB microphone in my country because people just use computers and a computer 3.5mm microphones that can be bought for $1.
$35 is actually the retail price of a lot of brand-new games. I'm not spending that much on a mic that should cost $1. Damn consoles. |

If you have a bluetooth headset (such as one used for your mobile phone), pair it with your PS3. There are some that won't pair (due to bluetooth versions) but most of them should work. |

If you're upset because it's more expensive than DUST, that $1 you suggested as a "fair" price is still infinitely more than DUST costs. Literally. I'm not seeing the point here, particularly when people have suggested getting a cheap Bluetooth headset that works with your phone as well - it'll also work with most PCs if you use of of them for gaming, or voice chat. |

I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for.
If you want to buy a cheap headset, fine by me.
But be prepared to buy multiple headsets when they keep breaking. |

This.
The only complaint I have is the people on the other end. Wish some of them would a mic with a mute button and learn to use it. |

^^ This for sure. I've got a few broken ones in a drawer - and they were cheap mics. I know some people may say "well it's only $1" but when you're buying one every other month, it adds up quickly; when you could've just bought a decent one to start with. |

Thellius Madclaw wrote: I have been researching this topic recently as well, I am going to be picking up some turtle beach P11's. They are roughly $60 and offer comfort as well as quality. The only drawback is that they are PS3 exclusive. As I haven't purchased them yet, I am only relating what I have gathered from massive amounts of reviews, but I will get back to you once I pick up a pair if you're still in the market.
I can vouch for these. they're amazing AND they work on PC's too, I love mine. Got them for -ú45 but they can sometimes cost more, I hunted around and found a good deal. |

I've been using a $10 phone headset, but it is garbage. It's uncomfortable, beeps at me constantly, shuts itself off multiple times a match, and has terrible battery life.
Switching to a Giotek PS3 headset. Hopefully it's less annoying. |
