Drop ships and LAV's need a pilot gunned version so we can earn skill points in pickup games while still doing what we are trained in.
Right now, as an Eryx pilot, I have to rely on 2 random people to gun for me, or to sit on a tower and rocket-snipe to earn SP with my trade.
I'm not saying that the current LAV and Dropships are bad, we just need an alternate for when we're on our own.
I have 7 million skill points and yet don't show up on kill boards to any significant measure unless I tower rocket snipe.
This will be especially relevant when Pilot dropsuits are out, because then I'll focus my SP into them and be even less useful outside of a vehicle.
I'm not asking that they be overpowered, just available. We can't group all the time.
Cheers. |

Well if you stop moving for a moment to blaster down something, that would work.. and put yourself at risk to get killed.

I would wager that more variants of vehicles will come out in the future that might have 1 pilot/gunner and secondary gunner (ie. Walker variant and assault flyer thing like a eve frigate?)
I also would not mind to see a team spawn bonus for ships with spawn points in them. as common as a drop ships are they are a valuable resource for team spawns, and the owner of the ship (not the pilot) should get some love for the investment in team play! |

Indeed there probably will be and as I recall theres more types of vehicles in the final build. Not to mention the expansions in 2013 which has another vehicle type the MTAC. Now thats the one I look forward towards. |

So you can solo for kills? That not your role as a dropship pilot |

All you need is for pilots to get a kill and 50 points whenever one of their gunners gets a kill. Other gunners/passengers still getting the normal 25 and passenger assist. This solves the issue for pilots who are upset because they never get killstats. It also affects the amount of SP they earn per match, increasing it from what they currently get...

wish i could recall which game it was i played where you got support xp, like you'd get xp for repairing things, healing people, etc. that way people like me who lack the twicthflexes to be really good in PVP battles had a chance to contribute, as well. i think Nova Knife's idea, with a bit of balance tweaking (should the pilot get a lot of the credit because he happened to have really good gunners? maybe so, maybe not), but i believe that something more than what they get now is definitely needed
*EDIT P.S. as many times as i've been squashed by a dropship trying to get to cover, i'd say pilots are soloing now :) |

My 2 cents. Dropship pilots should get +15 when someone spawn in theyr dropship and +10 when people get off the dropship. This way you will get points doing your job and won't need to crush people/camp towers to get points. |

People that heavily focused on healing and repairing were very valuable in MAG, and they were rewarded handsomely for it too. I often ran around with my med kit out full time, and would get EXP on par with the people getting 10/1 KDR's. I would like to see that type of gameplay be rewarded nicely in Dust too, I certainly wouldn't mind being a medic. |

This. All good points though, as long as pilots get rewarded well for supporting the team im happy. But there is a role for combat pilot ships and rewarding teamplay ships doesnt conflict with this. |

I heavily use the dropship as well. In comparison to poins, the pilot only gets 25 while the gunner gets 50. That gunner whouldnt be able to get as many kills without me moving the ship around with (great, but sometimes klutsy) precision while avoiding swarms and forge guns in the heat of battle. I would like the extra 25 for the kill, or have something like a kill streak if you're piloting - the more kills the more bonus +5 pts extra / kill added per flight.
Example, i take off with a gunner, he kills one, i get 25. He gets another kill... i get 30, then 35, then 40... And so forth limiting it to 45 or 50 when it gets that far. This make teamwork more valuable.
Like in fleet fights, the logi is just as important as the dps or tackler. So should the pilots.
To make it short, give us pilots some bonus for letting you shoot on our ship. This should also pass on tho the other vehicles |

I like this for regular dropships.
I also want my Apache combat style hovership for air support, when I'm not flying an AirBus. |

2 points.
it's a dropship, not a gunship. the seat layout alone clearly marks them as transport and support vehicles. hell, the higher tier is even called a logistics dropship... sorry if the pilot can't get lots of kills, but that's what they signed up for. i'm not against SOME way of better rewarding the pilot, but it should not be kill centric. "why can't my heavy carry nano-hives and a repair kit!? you know in case i don't group up with a logi-bro"
there are currently 4 seats where the passenger cannot shoot. that is a LOT of potential firepower, especially if you start considering swarm launchers and forge guns. |

First, I'm not asking for a gunship with passengers. But they do exist. Hind was one, a Russian attack-transport helicopter, and then in SciFi (which is where Dust is) there are the Star Wars clone trooper gunship-transports.
But I want an attack helicopter like an Apache, where the pilot can shoot things like the Apache in Desert Combat. An attack dropship, not a transport dropship.

To be extremely clear. A pilot, in the air, that can shoot things, but not a jet.
