When you're first starting out, it's frustrating enough not knowing anything about the game. And when a game like this comes around that gives vets better gear, it only encourages new players to just stop playing all together.
In EVE, one thing that really shines about it is that any player of any skill/time investment level can contribute to something. Not just something, but something important. And this is hardcore EVE we're talking about. Not even the casual World of Warcraft has this claim to fame.
I feel like Dust 514 should emulate this somehow. By giving newer players a niche that players of higher time investment don't want to bother with anymore. |

Hm. I could support that, but honestly if anyone took the time (sounding like a broken record over here) and looked at the statistics (attributes) to the various gears and items the game is pretty balanced. It's the practice (in-game) that seems to be wrong while you are on the battlefield. I still would not mind seeing other various implementations that would help and continue to foster a prospering growth of newer players though, and continue to keep people playing as well.
However "balance" is essential to this and keeping the game alive. |

This Beta seems quite good and I can see a lot of potential for this game.
However, I am afraid that this game has contracted what I would call the "Counter Strike" disease. Please heal it as soon as possible before it is too late.
Dan out. There will be a different kind of Virus spreading when this game comes out, In fact, it has already started. |

Tony Calif wrote:Don't call it Counterstrike disease. Counterstrike was good. Current build of the beta is garbage by comparision. Also CS was all player skill. Be it scout/awp/m4/ak whatever, no skills = no kills. Dust however is the other way around. Simply reward you for Playin no matter how bad you do. Tbh you'd be better off calling it "opMMOskills syndrome" but there we go. (pls note CS is still respected as one of the greatest shooters of all time. Something a lot of people seem to have no interest in here. I mean wtf?!)
I really don't understand how you can spend so much time on these forums and still lack a basic understanding of how MMO style PvP works. Honestly, you are either intentionally trolling, or you are absolutely daft.
SP does give an advantage to vets, but vets have no incentive to play against noobs. When the game launches and a proto suit costs 4x as much as the reward (and a tank costs 20x) for winning a match in high sec, why would vets be derping around in highsec? I mean, have you just never played an MMO before? |

@Ryo Bitter? Ok...
@Ironblood Agree CS had it's problems. But tbh it was pretty flawless in it's gun play.
@Roo I get MMO's and I've played a few. Not all that into them a they are mostly on PC, and I just didn't like DCUO. I get that more experienced players should have benefits. However dropping the passives by say 33% would still give the increase, but make it not so annihilating against nOObs. |

if these noobs can't a kill in militia gear like alot of us already had to do then they can spawn with repair kit, drop links, nano hives/injector.. or if you're so concerned for them let them hack the objective. they could fill those roles until they get their shiny.. |

And again, if balance between noobs vs vets is an issue, CCP have failed at the basic premise they have put forward. As a noob, it should be quite rare to play against a vet unless you are specifically going out of your way to do so, so why should we worry about balancing noobs vs vets in the first place? It's not like other MMOs are concerned with whether or not a lvl 1 can hold their own vs a lvl 80, they don't interact. It's like making all NBA players tie their shoelaces together in NBA games because otherwise they would be too good and it wouldn't be fair to the guys down the street playing a pickup game in the park. |

Well to be fair this late in the PlayStation3's life span with a new, new model of the PlayStation3 to be released soon on the horizon which is being dubed the 'true" slim and cutting a huge amount of the PlayStation3's costs out the window, with Dust also being a free application and game to both download and play upon release -- simply put you should no reason on the planet to be picking this game up a year after release. |

Yep, will die horribly. Just like all MMO's do after a year because Vets are more powerful than Noobs.
It's why there has never, ever been a single MMO that's lasted longer than a year. Ever. Can't happen.
It simply IS NOT POSSIBLE for a developer to encourage or even enforce seperation of players of different levels/power/experience.

If people wanted another Counterstrike, they should bloody well go GET Counterstrike.
If people want DUST to be more like CoD, they should buy a fish!.
If you want an easy game, where you can go in as a new player, and go toe to toe with veterans, go back to kindergarden.
DUST is different. Don't expect, or demand it'll be what you are used to, because if they make it like that, it'll fail. There is enough of the same old out there, time for something a little more challenging, a little more fun, something different.
And the DUST/EVE skill concept is really not that hard, if you have a brain. |

Speaking of CS there was a video in youtube of (unsurprisingly) GS members having a server with hacked maps ...
That video was hilarious with sudden head crab invasions, flying floors, Apache's (helicopters) and pretty much everything you could model on CS to play with to screw up with the opposing team as admin was of GS obviously.
