Pfft! Please. Counter Strike has a serious amount of issues some of which is the huge amount of rampant cheating. Was it a fantastic mod that grew into it's own game? Sure. Was it fun? Yes. However the game has problems. Namely players, and those who call thmeselves veterans. Such benign egotistical pisants. Personally the best way to look at Counter Strike is through a fog of nostalgia, and the amount of memes it gaves us.
"'Cause you know everyone runs faster with a knife."
Not accepting what it has become over the years is just sheer ignorance though. Not to say I hate Counter Strike, for which I do not. I have a lot of hope for the new Counter Strike title releasing this year even if it mainly is only a rebuild of what Counter Strike already is -- "if it's not broke though don't fix it." -- which can be taken several ways. I am hoping they only fixed what needed fixing personally. Hopefully though they can keep the cheating to a minimum this time.
Edit:
Everyone should atleast have heard or seen this too..

In EVE, one thing that really shines about it is that any player of any skill/time investment level can contribute to something. Not just something, but something important. And this is hardcore EVE we're talking about. Not even the casual World of Warcraft has this claim to fame.
I feel like Dust 514 should emulate this somehow. By giving newer players a niche that players of higher time investment don't want to bother with anymore.
Hm. I could support that, but honestly if anyone took the time (sounding like a broken record over here) and looked at the statistics (attributes) to the various gears and items the game is pretty balanced. It's the practice (in-game) that seems to be wrong while you are on the battlefield. I still would not mind seeing other various implementations that would help and continue to foster a prospering growth of newer players though, and continue to keep people playing as well.
However "balance" is essential to this and keeping the game alive. |

Well to be fair this late in the PlayStation3's life span with a new, new model of the PlayStation3 to be released soon on the horizon which is being dubed the 'true" slim and cutting a huge amount of the PlayStation3's costs out the window, with Dust also being a free application and game to both download and play upon release -- simply put you should no reason on the planet to be picking this game up a year after release. |
