I'm pretty sure all of the large missile turrets function that way on the HAVs. It's a known issue, and one workaround I've heard is zoom in with L1 before firing and it won't trigger the recoil.
And the railgun does have a bit of recoil, enough to make the (likely very heavy) vehicle jump up a little with each shot, which will throw off any passenger turrets if they fire around the same time following the main gun. It's not as much as the missiles, but, I'm pretty sure that's acknowledged to be a bug. |

I can confirm that this is NOT true....the very first time I ever fired my Large Missile Turret I was zoomed in on a distant target and after firing the turret my tank was thrown backwards and flipped on its side. When it righted itself I was facing nearly 120 degrees to the right of where it'd been previously positioned....not the turret mind you...the tank was facing the wrong way...
I will have to see the next time I'm on. That's what I've always been told is the workaround to that issue. Maybe it has to do with how long you're holding it through the firing animation or something. |

It was awesome.
If you mean it going into breakdance mode, I brought that up with one of the devs and there's a couple threads floating around about it. It happens when the HAV ends up upside-down, it just becomes a violent tornado, and you can pretty easily cause it by destroying the RDV before it drops off the HAV, or grinding against solid objects as that seems to bounce the vehicles all around from the weird collision mechanics right now. It might also happen if you managed to flip it from the missile recoil though, but I've generally seen it happen to non-missile tanks (I'm not sure if the bigger missile turret would cause it to roll back over, as the other turrets are smaller and flatter). |
