Could you introduce fights that are partially on the water? The dropsuits could have propellers to bring them forward without the loss of shooting while moving. There could be special dropsuits and weapons that also work under water so they could dive. The types of ships could be cruisers, submarines, fast attackboats and aircraft carriers where runway based planes could take off. They have a fitting system like other vehicles and could be very expensive. |

sounds like double the work for CCP for half the fun.
If they're gonna go to that much trouble adding a new environment to fight in they might as well do it for zero G space battles Boooyaaah!

Eventually will be fighting on every planet type in EVE including Oceanic which are mostly water so I would say there will be some naval power involved. |

I said this in another thread, but...
Most battles will take place in environments which infantry can fight on.
That means there will be land, and room for land battles. It also means there will be airspace, and thus, air vehicles. Water in any significant form isn't such a constant presence, and as such, would be difficult to specialise into without leaving yourself vulnerable any time you're on a map without water. |

There wont be water on every planet but it will hopefully be introduced that you can see the map before choosing this battle. |

Fights that have water would be fine, but making actual naval stuff seems like a fairly bad idea. That's a huge amount of extra work for them to do. If there's any environment you'd expect Dust to be taken to besides dry land, it'd be space. |

You do realize that we're only fighting on temperate planets atm. There are Oceanic planets out there that are mostly covered in water. |

I think you guys are missing some important points. Why are we fighting? We're fighting for resources that can be mined in EVE. These are currently mined using planetary structures dropped in from space. Before any EVE corp will actually need us to fight over oceanic planetary sections they'll actually need to be able to do something with them.
As far as I know, EVE has no gear which would allow them to profit from liquid planets or oceans on temperate planets.
Disclaimer: I haven't been a part of the EVE universe for about 4 years now so I may be outdated. I would like to hear if there were any changes in these fields. |

We're already using the Unreal 3 engine. Maybe they'll toss in the teleport gun from Unreal too That would make it easy to move between platforms.
I'm just teasing though...The teleport gun was so amazingly destructive to gameplay in Unreal. It's worse than camping, bunny-hopping and tryhards put together. |

I imagine that we will have islands and floating platforms. Dropships woullld be far to easy for the defenders just layout everybody with swarms and forge guns. I think that we will need options that are harder to shoot down than a bunch of floating targets. While I highly doubt that we have naval cruisers sitting there exchanging fire, I do believe we will have alternative transport for different planets. I think submarines and some kind of marine landing craft, I really dont believe a cruiser type vessel is a good idea.
Reasons and ideas No cruiser. A ship that large would require a crew of at least 4 even in this universe partially for balance but also just so that it could defend itself. I feel that it cause a lot of griping just like tanks do now and we just don't need it. Maybe so.e one can come up with an idea that is a little better but I just don't see what it be good for besides lobbing shells back and forth at one another. Submarine Basically a covert infiltration method. Limited weapons perhaps some kind of torpedo fired by the pilot and a small turret that can be manned while it is surfaced. Marine landing craft. Essentially a cross between an LAV and a dropship can carry 5-6 people has a small turret for defense and is very fast on water and limited mobility on land. Anybody who wants to expand on my ideas feel free. |

Maybe buoy installation that attacks approaching enemy torpedos. It could have a reload time so it wont protect completely. |

There could also be ferries to transport HAVs and alike. They just drive onto them so they can shoot and move. The same could apply to mercs. |

Most of the combat on oceanic worlds will likely be over resources built on floating platforms. In either case it will be interesting to see what new tactics dusters come up with for the different planet types. Plasma and lava will be lots of fun I think. |
