I definitely think CCP should release more builds more often.
Even if it is small changes, new additions, even if buggy (within reason), should be tested. Maybe some ideas from the internal testing, people didn't like, but the public would love! It would be a much more community voiced development.
Just look at DayZ, new build every 2 weeks or so, with new features. People like them, they voice it, people don't, they voice it.
Ask the CSM! They're there for a reason.
A build once a fortnight wouldn't be out of the question right? |

That would be nice, I'm not sure though. I'm kinda thinking that they would have done that already if they could, but idk. Maybe they get more done they way it is now. |

IIRC the limiting factor is with pushing new builds onto the Playstation Network Servers, NOT with CCP.
So I think it takes something like a month to push things onto PSN. But I could be wrong.
I suspect the next build won't be until August.
But I would like to see them allow more maps. That shouldn't take a whole new build to give us more maps to play on.
I think the natives are getting restless in here. |

Sony gave CCP full patching privileges, they can patch as much and as often as they want to. My guess is that anything they have right now, isn't stable enough to be worth patching in. I'm just going to happily wait until the next build, they have enough bugs to work out right now. |

Anything concrete on how CCP and Sony manage updates on this game?
It seems as though many people are getting restless over the current build and it's shortcomings. |

Thats not entirelly correct.
CCP can change data in databases whenever they want, and anything that resides server-side.
Client side, they still have to check out the patches thru a QA process within Sony, wich takes time for homologation.
I am sure if this game was being developed for the PC we would see a steady and frequent stream of patches. |

Well that seems like a bummer, no special consideration for BETA tests. Won't need QA because in development |

More updates would be good but with more updates come higher possibility of bugs including destablizing online play. The game has been pretty stable since the E3 build and I would not want to go back to freezing as much as I was seeing pre-E3 build. |

Greetings,
Ender Storm wrote:CCP can change data in databases whenever they want, and anything that resides server-side. This is why in my recent survey response I suggested that CCP fully populate the skills / markets. These are all DB only changes and will help us to get a better feel for what CCP wants the game to look like come launch day. For example, is CCP going to follow their own example and make each race's Assault Dropsuit skill unique to their racial dropsuit? Is CCP going to follow it's own example and make every level in each skill mean something? Are they going to really link the EVE and CCP markets? Right now, due to the partial DB population it looks like the answer is going to be no.

DayZ is a mod to a complete game, Dust is a F2P MMOFPS where CPP sells ingame items and currency to players. So it's a pretty now brainer that they are no way comparable.
i'd rather take bigger updates less frequently and let them actually focus on getting the game ready than download a new client every week just to get a bit more stuff. |
