Ok you have this guy that just fly's around crushing people all match. I was thinking to adapt and improvise, CCP implements a self destruct module that detonates with with a large impact to your outter shell. In other words being crushed by dropships, ran over by a lav or crushed by a tank. Just a random thought that came across my mind. Any thoughts? |

oh thats a good idea but probably should only be used for vehicle crushing cause I can imagine noobs running around blowing themselves up |

I've beat yeah too it in game though with what we already have.
Use remote explosives, if a dropship is really bothering you, lay a few down, and wait, maybe even shoot em with yer rifle to bug em to come over, then when they get near you Boom, either take yerself out or move a bit.
Same can be done with LAVs, but if a dropship is really buggin you, just swarm em, takes like 4 shots, and if they miss you crushin, they have to go back up and circle around, perfect time for a pew pew. |

I usually just get around a light pole and circle it and keep it between me and the pilots ship. As for lav or tanks i simply move out the way. Was just thinking of an easier way to make it stop. Not really complaining about getting crushed I try to avoid it at all costs |

No I like this idea A LOT, its the best one I've heard so far, but I want to make it fully effective, any death results in a 3000 dmg explosion for the militia one within a 1m radius, up to 5000 for the next and 9000 for the prototype. This would create unpleasant surprises for tanks and add a whole new element of 'well ****' to when someone jumps on top of your tank and starts shooting you =D. You've now got a permanent parasite companion who you'd better hope lives and shoots you for the rest of the match, because as soon as he dies so do you =P.
Also when knife killing gets the Buff it so badly needs this will also serve as its counter easily, and dropships wont have a prayer. The low level militia ones wont kill a prototype dropship, but the advance or prototype ones will be enough of a deterrence that no one will even bother crushing ANY opponent for fear of him just happening to be the one with the module equipped =).

A HUGE +1 Well, you could just hop out and shoot the parasite. He wouldn't splode no matter what, only on impact from vehicles. |

Step One: Get Remote Explosives. Step Two: Look for enemy dropship trying to crush you. Step Three: Lay RE on ground around you when it comes down at you. Step Four: Wait for it to get close then BOOM!
Exactly what you're looking for, already in game. |

Disagree, too much effort to counter an unintended role for a vehicle, as well as a waste of valuable resources also not intended for that purpose. I see your point a counter exists, but for an exploit the counter should be a deterrent, and preferably passive.
Crushing is not a glitch, not outside the game mechanics, and not 'TOTALLY' unintended... But its exploitative because it wasn't intended to be used AS MUCH as it is. The other suggestions will serve as much greater deterrent, and thus are better in general.
Also I say give additional points to the person who gets the kill by being crushed and self destructed. Additional reason to encourage dropships to crush you, and thus discourage them to do so, and eventually prevent this exploitative behavior.
The key question, is would this addition in ANY way shape or form be game breaking? And the simple answer is no, its not the vehicles intended primary method of attack or killing, so it is merely mediating not breaking. It prevents vehicles from making this there primary method of attack, while simultaneously maintaining that they can do it if they wish to take the unnecessary risk. |

That seems like its a little complicated to try and lay down a remote explosive and try to lure a dropship in and still be far enough away from the RE to detonate without exploding yourself. Thanks for the suggestion though. |

Thanks for the suggestion though. As opposed to how you're planning to escape without exploding yourself BY EXPLODING YOURSELF?
I don't see the difference between suicide bombing with REs and suicide bombing with a "suicide bomber app" module.
And I still think it would be better to make collisions with the ground deal armour damage instead of having to strip shields first. It's not like shields are really going to do much to stop a planet when it hits you.
Also, this would be WAY to easy to exploit in other ways that are just as annoying as dropship squishing, if not moreso. |

With the RE I wouldn't intend on blowing myself up. I mean your going to die anyway whether you get squashed or explode. l at least if I get exploded the guy that tried to squash me gets it too. I agree with the running your dropship into the ground doing more damage or armor damage. I mean in comparison to real life if you ran a dropship into the ground there would be massive damamge. I understand physics in games can only do so much. Even still if it done more damage what more can you do when you were killed by the squasher.

I occasionally just shoot at them with my AR and watch them fly away when they realize hey this guy is doing damage to me with an AR. I was just thinking outside the box. As you don't always see the dropship coming. At least I don't. If they done away with the militia vehicles people wouldn't be doing this as much because when you lose your dropship you lose ISK. I honestly feel that doing away with militia vehicles would put a stop to a lot of the nonsense. That's a different thread all together though. |

Laugh when they're dead before you can respawn?
Or get better at avoiding derpships.
Keep in mind the lack of random spawns in the current build, and the fact that it's a bug, and will be fixed. They won't be able to just park themselves on the spot where you're going to spawn and bounce up and down for free kills. |

I've got an issue with this idea. Yea I want to stop drop ships from crushing people because it is totally kitten but I don't like the exploding suit mechanic from a story point of view. What would be the narrative that would lead to people putting explosives into their suits that only explode when a vehicle hits them? Its just too far fetched.
A more reasonable way to deal with this is to make the vehicle damage from crashing into/rolling your drop ship across the ground much higher. Actually just make vehicle impacts much more damaging in general. And make it damage all vehicles involved in the damage equally. I destoryed another drop ship by ramming it with mine and took only minimal damage. Silly. |

Not silly, it's funny, and you have a upgraded ship? if so then that's why you probably survived, if not, then there is something to look at with that.
Again, no explosive dropsuits, just lay RE and detonate them. |

I would like to think that I am somewhat good at avoiding them but as I mentioned before it's not every single time this happens that I see the pilots coming in. Yeah, it's kind of crappy that you have limited spawns and they are to easy for people to camp. |

Other than spawn-camping (which, as mentioned, won't be viable in future builds), that means you got outplayed.
if you see them coming and they still kill you, then they were better-fitted for the situation than you were.
If they take damage direct to armour when they hit the ground doing this, then someone rips into them right after they've killed you, they're going to be at a major disadvantage because of the damage they took when they ran you over. if the shields were taking most of the hit, it wouldn't have been as much of a problem, because those regen faster, but armour damage takes more time and effort to recover from. |
