You pay to get Aurum (which is reset after the beta so you can re-use it in the release version), a bunch of extra items for the game (also given back when they reset the servers on release), and MORE TIME with the beta than people who don't pay.
How are people still not getting that?
You are grossly misinformed - You can pay for Beta acess & DLC if you prefer to get it instantly |

No, I'm not grossly misinformed. You're misreading my point.
There's no option to pay for ONLY beta access, and there are options to get limited access to the beta without paying. The paid option gives you items worth more than you paid for them, AND gives you more access to the beta than people who didn't pay.
The key element being the "worth more than you paid for them" part - you get MORE than your money's worth even without considering the beta access. |

While as a PS+ member I too had hoped that that alone would grant me Beta access. But the introduction of the Merc Pack was certainly designed to entice folks that were not getting Beta keys by other means or were too lazy to try.
To their credit CCP did offer a substantial cluster of items in the pack which alone and without Beta access was worth the $20 you paid if you cared enough about the game to invest in such things. So in my opinion you already got exactly what you chose to pay for. No one put a gun to your head and said "you must pay to get into this closed Beta".
There were several avenues to gain access for free for anyone who was willing to give up a little time and put forth some due diligence. But this was an option to take the easy way in...and you did...will full knowledge and disclosure. And now here you are complaining about it after the fact, with your hand out asking for more. That's ballsy. |

Whilst not technically paying for the beta, the merc pack does give you beta as bonus, but the point still stands.

The OP is pissed because he didn't get the full game. He paid -ú14 for what is currently a beta. I think it is a MASSIVE mistake offering this package. I haven't even bought any AUR, and Dust is a little underwhelming. I've paid nothing, and it's not epic yet. I wouldn't have bought the pack to get in though... I just think the ones who do, and are disappointed will give Dust/CCP a bad name. Tbh I'd be pissed if I paid for this beta. (I know he paid for AUR not beta but add the learning curve of this game and you would just feel ripped off). |

I'm actually thinking about getting this merc pack honestly. People complaining obviously don't know what they got so I'll list it. The beta access was a bonus honestly.
30 Day SP booster. 4,000 AURUM. A dropsuit you NEVER LOSE. A SMG you NEVER LOSE. 50X shotguns 50X drop uplinks 50x fused locust grenades 50x stimulant
Aurum will be refunded to you when game releases idk about the other stuff I'm not going to speculate to avoid getting myself in trouble lol.
Also no body put a gun to your head and made you buy it. If you don't like it you made a bad decision for yourself. You got what you paid for if your unhappy then call customer support.
I have plans to get this even though I'm already in the BETA. |

You are wrong you are pre-paying for AUR for the game when it's released. Because you pre-ordered their game, CCP is letting you get early access. Guess what, that merc pack is going to be for sale after the game is released too. You see Dust's finacial model is based on micro transactions using AUR. So you bought AUR and now your sad? Get over it. Where do you get your false sense of entitlement from? You are already getting something extra compared to the people that buy the pack post release. |

im not sure what people are complaining about and asking for compensation for.
you guys bought the entire pack for the price of the AURUM alone. everything else (beta access, additional exclusive content etc) was free. of course that is only because right now the pack is on sale. but you have no right at all to ask for compensation for paying.
what if there was no pack, and you had to wait for the game? are you the kinda person to ask for compensation on getting left out? i should hope not. if you plan/planned on buying AURUM in the game on release...there is no real issue i dont think. cos all you did was buy it early....and oh look CCP were nice enough to give you beta access and a couple of gifts aswell. how about that. they have more right asking for that extra stuff back than you do asking for compensation for getting access to something that for all intensive purpose you do not have any right to be in. being in the beta of ANYTHING is a priviledge, an honor and a great opportunity to know the dev's, know the project and understand the dream of the minds behind what you are playing and why they work the way they do. it used to shape worlds, fulfil fantasies and accomplish dream like experiences for both the player and the dev. we work together to make something that was once thought as finished (or close to it) complete. this game is of course a different kinda project....so not all of that applies, but you get what i mean.
it sounds to me that you got into this beta for all the wrong reasons........that isnt our fault.....or CCP's. its yours. life is full of mistakes. CCP have realised this buy letting someone like you buy the pack.....and they will have to live with it. you will have to live with expecting special treatment and no one giving it to you....

Now you are asking for more compensation? Sorry to me that is just ungrateful. I understand that everyone may not see it that way but the merc pack was an amazing deal and opportunity. No matter who you are a 60 dollar value for 20 dollars is a good deal. Then on top of it you get exclusive access to a game prerelease. I say exclusive because those of us who paid get access on the off weekends when non payers do not get that access. Just my .02 correction 120 dollar value since we get to reuse everything again when full game comes out. people need to stop griping im happy just to be a part of this beta.

YAYYY another one that didnt read and comprehend this is no different than what games like Guild Wars 2 did where if u pre-purchased the game u got into the beta in DUST case u pre-purchased some items that will be used at launch and in turn got the beta as a bonus. You arent payin for the beta really altho thats what 99% of u guys that bought the merc pack probably think.
I bought the merc pack as well even tho i already have all access why? simple $50 worth of items for $20 , most importantly 2 of the items were a 30-day booster and 4000 AUR those will come in handy at launch |

ppl who paid the merc pack DID get something extra - 20 for 50, wasnt it? special suit, weapon and AURUM... so in my eyes they get more than the 'regular' PS+ users who did the (annoying) E3 challenge or other beta-testers...

Killface Rodeo wrote:I would like to know what sort of compensation you had in mind for the people that paid to get into your beta to ultimately test your game? I am already a PS+ member and a lot of PS+ members were under the impression that we would get free beta access. What will be made available upon release to those that shelled out 20 dollars to get in? This is already a huge slap in the face... paying to test a beta. It feels pretty ****** and sounds like it should be illegal in all honesty. I would like to know exactly how that money I spent will help me.
1.) PS+ members get access to betas. Not all betas, and not for all games. It's up to the developer to work with Playstation on the matter.
2.) Buying the Merc pack got you into every beta weekend and event until the game comes out, guaranteed. No need to register for weekend keys or anything.
3.) Buying the Merc pack also got you 4000 Aurum and a bunch of top quality gear, which you will also get reissued to you when the game goes live after the stat/isk/inventory wipes.
4.) Quit being a whiny entitled brat.

I think anyone who pays to play this game is an idiot... Way too many glitches, people spawn camp since CCP hasn't figured out that you have to protect the spawn area, and it's just not a good game.... Yet. Well we will see.... But I for one only play because I think it has the possibility of being a good game that isn't just a repeat of COD. But right now I'd prefer to play COD, and I'm a MAG player so that just tells you how bad I think Dust514 is as it stands today. I only play because my MAG crew is also hoping that Dust will be good and is giving it a shot. LMAO |

You bigbry are something of a mentally challenged individual.
This is a BETA! you know what a beta is dont you? oh wait, maybe you have no idea what a beta is. mainly because this is one of the few proper beta's you actually see these days.
for the past few years we have seen betas being released for people to play. for example, crysis 2, gears of wars 3....hell even after mentioning these two game you can probably see where i am going with this. THEY WERENT BETA'S! the game were finished, running really well. hell epic games announced that gears of war 3 was finished about 6-9 months before its release. but they just said that they were gonna delay the release anyway to "not get lost in the other late spring releases" that year. what they meant to say was "we wanna make as much money as we can out of this as its gonna be the "last one" " and so they release a "beta" to keep the hype high. crysis 2 was very similar. These two games didnt release beta's...they release demos and there is a massive different.
Dust 514 is a proper beta. its nowhere near finished and its wise as hell for people to get into it now! why is it wise? well lets see....THE GAME IS MASSIVE (or will be anyway) and so much can go very very very very wrong. no one has done anything like this before with a game, merging EVE and Dust514 has so much potential if handled properly. guess what....they are handling it carefully...which i would say is the proper thing to do.
and you can shut the hell up about MAG. if you had player it from the very very early days (like myself) and claim to be as much of a MAG player as you are....you would know fine well that MAG SUCKED early on. it sucked sooo much ass. they tried a big task. and it took them ages to get it where it is now, and its not perfect no by any stretch of the imagination. and COD? my god man....you must be a hoot at the parties. assuming you have friend cos you appear to be a closed minded, unimaginative kind of fellow.
COD has nothing on what dust is/will be, nor does MAG. THIS IS A BETA! you think MAG is so much better, go back to it! BETA testers need an open mind. the dev's need those open minds to mould the game into something great. it what CCP have always done and i tell you now....Infinity Ward would never extend the same courtesy of getting the people so involved in a game that they will be playing. CCP are great developers and this is their FIRST time stepping in the FPS side of things. but this is CCP. an FPS has been done before, therefore is not enough to feet their imaginative and daring attitude. so they are making it half of another simultaneous running game. NO ONE HAS DONE THIS?! so you have nothing to compare it to in the grand scale. onthe FPS side of thing, yeh sure, it needs tweaking. hundreds upon hundreds of posts that say this though. the difference between you and them is that most of them are constructive. almost all of what you are saying isnt.
if you want Dust514 to have "the possibility of being a good game that isn't just a repeat of COD" ....MAKE IT HAPPEN! dont just moan and ***** about it being broken in places. it helps no one, its not constructive, it solves nothing and it just makes you another one of the people that are bringing down the state of the human condition.
for every problem, there is a solution. propose solutions! or....just go back to MAG. compared to dust514....that game is tiny. and what's even more weird is that when DUST514 comes back, and is fixed and running how it (and only it) should it running. you'll come back....you know you will. and you will have had nothing to do with it. so you would be playing someone else game that you had little or no input on. itll still be better than everyone else's FPS's. i have little doubt of that for sure. but you will still moan and moan and moan. but its your own fault that what you would like fixed is in that game....because you decided to moan when it was being made, rather than make it better.
ITS A DAMN BETA!!!! |
