Not sure if this has been requested before, but I think that a visual, branching, skill tree would be useful for people to plan out spending their SP in game. Right now its hard to see which parent skills/level you need to unlock a skill that may be a few brackets down. I know you can look up a skill book in the market and see what the requirements are to find out how to unlock that skill, but that can be a pain.
I realize that its probably a pretty big tree, but you could show a few branches, then select a skill to see what that branches off into. I think this would eliminate a lot of confusion for the people not familiar with EVE or casuals who won't go online to look up and pre-plan a skill road map for themselves.
Just a thought. |

No.
eve, and dust skill system does NOT work that way, having a skill "tree" system would simply ...well not work, the skill system is just too diverse,
EDIT, to clarify, there are just far to many interlinking skills, it would look more like a woven basket, than a tree. |

There's a minor "tree" when you look at prerequisites. |

Yes.
It's really not that diversive when you think about it. A nice visual indicator would be nice |

The skills are set up in a skill tree, but with so many skills available it would make more sense as skill CLOUDS. Something like how Skyrim, Star Ocean, or Final Fantasy visualizes the information.
Don't change how it works, just put it in a visual language console gamers are more used to. |

It would be more like skill grass.
In eve Its rare when there are 4 or more pre-requisites. And skills don't really branch out too much.

There was a picture of eve's tech skill tree, it looked like the star map with lines in it. |

I am sure Caliipso mans having a Skill Tree as a way to a represent skills opposed to the List system we have now.
I anyway agree: a skill tree is easier to navigate and gives you a better overview of when/how you unlock a certain gear/specialization. We discussed it a lot but nobody requested it officially. Also, as Baal Roo said, we can get very big skill treas that are easy to navigate; FF X probably had one of the largest skill tree ever and still it's far more readable than the UI we have now. |

IMO it's absolutely feasible to have a skill tree: the starmap is enormous and it's readable. |

exactly. Visual Language doesn't have to dumb things down. It can make information clearer and used widely o convey complex in depth info quickly and concisely.
Some extra requests:
Also, can we hide some of the skill books I am not interested in purchasing/ using or looking at. The screen will become too cluttered as more books get added.
And can we get a visual comparison, perhaps a table? of comparable weapon, equipment etc. classes?

Also adding my voice to the "change layout, keep complexity" comments.
The main reason this isn't as big an issue in EVE is the input method. Controllers don't give players anywhere near the freedom of control that a mouse allows for in a menu, so "consolising" the skill layout is an important step. |

In EVEonline, there is a player external program EVEMON to check the skills in a tree system. Here, they should put in Internet, a tree to check the different skills. It would be easier than putting it in the game. In WOW for example, there is also the manual, and the skills in the official web page, and t is easy to check out of the game. |

I believe that is the skill tree from eve you are talking about. I think a basic skill tree combines with a certification recommendation to use items would be a good idea. The skill tree to show the bare minimum requirements to get to a certain item. Then the certifications to show what skills would be good to have to improve what you are trying to use but not required. |
