Hey everyone, I wanted to make a quick note about the current pilot SP rewards. Mostly because they barely exist. When I fly a dropship and secure 30+ kills a match, it makes me sad to know that I only receive a very small fraction of the SP that the gunners do.
The second point I'd like to address is the pilot's K/D ratio. Many people here have brought up the idea of having an assist tally as well and I agree with this. It's really disheartening to end the match with 0 kills, but still provide utility to the team.
Maybe you all could help come up with some other ideas for us poor pilots who carry the team.
edit: It would also be nice to have some sort of flare system to evade the swarm launchers. |

I know right . I love getting my guys on target and giving the jump orders but I only do every now and again or I wont get any darn SP. I sometimes go on a crushing spree out of bitterness...ow so bitter.
CCP your are only hope giv us 35 sp per gunner kill and 20 for a spawn and make pilots happy in pantys. |

Happened to me. Each spawn should be worth 50, with each "pilot assist" worth 100.
Please give pilots a bit of a boost! |

As I understand it they are using the same vehicle assist code for LAV / HAV / Dropships. The problem is that since the LAV and Dropship pilots don't have direct weapon controls, they don't get the vehicle assist points, kind of like the passengers, but HAV pilots and passengers all have gun ports. So CCP needs to be careful that they don't double-up the HAV pilots / passenger SP gains while boosting Dropship / LAV pilots.

+1 agreed, pilots need a huge boost. as a general rule you have to give more of a reward for supporting your team than you do for kills otherwise people will just go for the kills. |

I wouldn't agree at all with the 100 point assist. If that were the case, you'd have everyone in dropships trying to boost their skills. The points/spawn might be decent, maybe something small like 5 SP each time someone spawns in. I don't want dropships to get too overpowered... |

I agree with this. Pilots make the game much more enjoyable. i personally enjoy and am thankful for when someone takes the role of transporting the soldiers to strategic locations. not to mention that since the dropship is a spawn point, it becomes super essential.

Yep. Agreed. Pilots need S/P for flying the team. Flying the team is a huge financial risk (those dropships and fittings are extremely expensive) and then you get nothing in return for flying the team and spending massive amounts of isk.
A little S/P for the pilots is necessary |

I agree that there should be at least some point acrual for spawning in allies, given that this is a very important support function. However, the kill assist credit should stay as it is, because you don't want dropship pilots having some kind of arbitrary advantage over ground vehicle operators. Given that with something like an Eryx with a good shield tank and damage upgrades, that you can stay in the air for quite some time, I would figure that a 10 or 20 point bonus per spawn would make operating a spawning dropship much less sacrificial in nature. |

how about sp for amount of time ship is in the air. And keep 25sp for half kills?
Or bonuses for kills at marked objectives? |

I have yet to be a dropship pilot for any length of time myself, but what I've heard makes it sound like being a Healer in War for Cybertron. I frequently ran 1:7 K/D or worse when I was healing, but literally everyone on both teams considered me to have been a total game-changer. My score rarely broke 300XP with the +200 for winning, while the lowest-scoring player on the losing team rarely had less than double my XP total.
Dropship pilots DEFINITELY need to be rewarded better for their efforts. |

use your dropship to drop on top of enemy players when you are bringing in your troops to capture the point for extra points! |

I have two thoughts on the situation.
1) The pilot's k/d ratio - You really need to just change your way of thinking to de-emphasize k/d ratio. It's not all that important, this isn't CoD or Halo.
2) Spawns being worth 50 and assists being worth 100 - This is WAY off. This would make a pilot assist give more points than the actual kill does. Just does not compute. |
