Just curious, is this feature actually planned at all?
It really bugs me when wearing the tight-fitting scout dropsuit to stare at a male's rear, due to the fact that I am 13 and uncomfortable with my sexuality.
Not actually.
But the option is there (and inaccessible) in character creation. And so far, the only concept art and models I've seen for dust have been 100% male. Is this going to change?
I also think it'd help dust stand out a little bit. Female characters are still uncommon within the FPS and TPS market. |

I just find it funny that all the art assets shown so far have been male... it makes me wonder if it's actually in production or not.
Granted the heavy dropsuits would probably look identical no matter who was in them. |

They have females in Eve I'm sure Dust is going to have it's fair share of female char as well. Just not a big deal in the beta ya know. We are the stress testers not the cross dressers. |

I feel weird playing male characters, so I do hope it gets implemented sooner than later. I was kinda sad when i realized it was greyed out. |

Understandable. I'm assuming your a woman considering your post lol. Most players of FPS's are male so I'd imagine the female char's aren't at the top of their list. Nothing against the ladies that enjoy a good FPS but your outnumbered horribly.(which i'm sure your aware of). Well hopefully they will add them soon so you can represent the FPS ladies out there and show some of these guys a thing or two about marksmanship. |

Definitely coming, models have been prototyped but not quite ready yet. Give them some time, they'll be out as soon as the art/modeling/animation teams can get them where they want them. |

Err... What would it look like? Or do you just mean for someone to be able to say "Hey, I've changed genders!" or something? Not meaning to poke a beehive or anything *Shakes head and hands* Just wondering what your thought was haha. |

Dark Souls did this successfully. Gender is a slider instead of a binary. |

Seeing as its a grayed out option when creating a character, Id say it is planned, And is only not allowed yet because they haven't made the models/animations yet.

Well, let's see. Nstomper, I'm going to extrapolate that you're probably male from that name and the content of your previous posts. Oh no, I know what's in your pants, TMI TMI and it's all your fault for making your personal information so obvious!
Welcome to the world, grow up.

For those that haven't read "EVE: Templar One" (by Tony Gonzales) the story that leads up to the whole DUST514 fiction. There was a part of the story where it was explained that all the immortal soldier clones were the same "standard" issue (which happen to be male).
There was a female soldier who just couldn't get over the fact that her body was male. I found it ammusing. But yeah, that's how they explained that.
That's not to say that maybe sometime in the future they would develop "standard" issue female clones. |

I also think it'd help dust stand out a little bit. Female characters are still uncommon within the FPS and TPS market. I saw a thread like this before, so I'll say about the same thing [spoilers] The Traveller Chronicles on the Dust homepage lay out that the clone bodies we use are mass produced, and most likely even genderless at the point in the storyline where Dust will actually be launching. In the chronicles, even the one female volunteer for their unit had a male body, but the vocal cords were modified so that she still had her own voice, so that they could easily identify each other over comms. I actually wouldn't be surprised if that concept was carried through, and we end up with semi-androgynous looking genderless characters. [/spoilers] |

I think combat bodies will look pretty much the same/all male, but merc quarters bodies, war room bodies, and portraits may differ. |

If I told you I was male, would you get offended? That's no different than what Sha said.
The more options the merrier.
I plan to play as a female, because, well, I don't play games "as myself," and I have various characters I've come up with over the years, one of the females better-representing a mercenary than the males I've created. |

I want to stare at female character dropsuits, it may turn out to be a new tactic on the battlefield.
But if they get female dropsuits, I want a Rino dropsuit, just because, I think rinos are cool. |
