Its too bad there aren't massive search engines that one could use to figure it out.
I am guessing he is referring to the guy that spent $1300 to get a copy of NMS early. He posted some videos, though tried taking them down after the Dev warned other gamers about spoilers.
Then it was reported he used an exploit to get to the center of the galaxy in about 30 hours.
Personally, I am not going to let it bother me. I am going to go in with an open mind, and enjoy the exploration.

If your only goal is to reach the center of the galaxy, you're setting yourself up to be disappointed.
The game doesn't have that massive of a scale just to speedrun to a certain spot. And even if you are planning on doing that, it's all based off of luck for how close you start to the center.

from what I understand, the game just seems like it doesn't have a lot going for it.

I never bought into the hype of NMS. I was never a fan of survivor type games nor Minecraft and that is kind of what NMS looked like to me. Having a game be "totally massive big!" doesn't change the fact that there might not be much to do in it. I mean, Elite: Dangerous is the same thing. That was hyped to be the next coming of Christ but it turned out to just be a game that is most easily compared to Euro Truck Simulator and not in a pejorative fashion; drive around, relax, and let the hours go by as you travel the roads/stars. It came out, the hype went away, it got it's 8/10's, and everyone moved on. Hell, comparing NMS to Elite: Dangerous, both games had people that rushed to the center of the Universe to see what was there and both times the expectation of it couldn't live up to reality.
I honestly think that NMS will be the same and possibly even Star Citizen.

NMS was never supposed to be some crazy in depth game, it's mostly about enjoying the fact that you can enjoy a universe sized universe.
SC on the other hand has too many hardcore fans to let it fade. Even if no one but them played it from here on out it would still do quite well for itself.
Games that break the mold take more risk but ultimately have more going for them simply due to being different. Particularly those that take on technological challenges and create new technologies and genres in the process. Will they all succeed? Of course not, but it's those companies that really tend to stand out, vs the sea of companies that just rehash the same old material with a new skin and expect you to be excited for it.

That's like saying the only reason to play Eve is because of how many planets there are.

And that sentence is out of place because I originally had a weird rant about Everquest and WoW that felt overly out of place, even for me. In short: Everquest is a hell of a lot bigger but there is less to do mechanically than WoW. Imagine that but over like a paragraph.

From what I've seen, the main selling point for NMS is that everything not pertaining to intelligent life is procedurally generated.
That means that somewhere in the game, there could be a planet filled with space-dicks as far as the eye can see.

Forgot to take screenshots (though the planet might still be within range), but I found a planet where the most common plant is a tree-sized space-****.

This is Not an interesting topic. With the Devs not being very forthcoming with information regararding NMS, it was pretty much exactly what I thought it would be, anti-climatic. It seems to be good for some people though, even if it's commonly referred to as "boringly addicting".
