If they do, will you finally recreate your character name with proper capitalisation? You can even do it now, you know. Just send in a ticket. It's that easy. That's all you have to do to sort out the agony of not having proper capitalisation.

Our names should be the only thing we keep. I want to keep everything because that's what EvE is about. Yes, I know this is Dust, but it's in the New Eden EvE Universe, and should by rights then be persistent. I'm sure CCP was at least a little worried there'd be people like me that believe things shouldn't just end like that, particularly in New Eden. The idea of New Eden is that once a part of that universe comes into being, it continues in some form for as long as CCP exists. That's why the transition to the new platform should carry across just as much as CCP can preserve of our existing advancement, just exactly as if they were porting it.
There is nothing to stop them doing exactly that. The database is on Tranquility. They can keep exactly what they want of it to populate the new game's database, even just keep the database itself for that matter, with whatever database mods are necessary for the new platform. I don't buy this "tiered recognition" rubbish. They can do a lot better than that. They can even give you guys that want to start again a skill reset or even a complete wipe if they want, but give me what I've already got, thanks. |

They just pulled the plug on us and are currently not even paying attention to dust.
What they did was disgusting to their player base on the PS3.
Basically pulled the plug on life support to us all.
Then came out and said ohhh yeah by the way we are making a FPS on the PC.
How the F does that benefit us console gamers?
I am speaking for most of you here. As i own a top quality gaming PC already.
But i can imagine how all you dedicated console gamers feel right now.
If its anything like me you got to be disgusted at CCP right now. Yes, I agree, their treatment of us is abhorrent. No way would they even dream of doing this to the EvE community. But they can still redeem themselves by using as much of what they have sitting on their servers to give us some continuity in the new game if we want it. They have the ability to use any or all of what we already have in Tranquility. Let's just see what they come up with. New Eden is about persistence. They could still give us that.
Its not gonna be skill based on the PC to many modders.
Will be a waste of time, maybe fun for a week or two.

For you and I, our names are the most valuable thing we have in this game...
But I am hoping that some DUST players who put about 0.5 seconds worth of thought into naming their character because they just wanted to get in there and shoot stuff, might consider putting some time into coming up with a decent new name in the new game.

It has nothing to do with the level of skills of existing players. EvE has players that have been around for a decade, and the NPE of EvE is fantastic compared with Dust. The problem is the way CCP implemented the game, not the level of skills.
Even if we did start from scratch, it will only be two or three years and that same sucky NPE will be back. A better approach to NPE is what's called for here, not a reset of SP. |

If us starting with some of our progression from this game, will somehow ruin the New Player Experience in the new game, then the New Player Experience is inherently flawed. Even if everything resets, given a couple of years there will be incredibly rich veterans just like us, and the NPE won't be any different.

The only things we could keep should be the skins.
Just makes sure we cannot sell them during the first year not to "unbalance" the game market at the start, and we are good. :)
As long as it is visual, it cannot impact the NPE. Actually, it will make them eager to get their own.!

If it was a DUST port I would want to keep my stuff.
However, this is a complete rebuild from the ground up. It will have similarities to DUST, but will also have dramatic differences. I think it would be more fun to start from scratch, carrying nothing forward but your name and reputation.
Although I would not be apposed to keeping our skins, as they are only cosmetic.
RP:
A treaty between the Factions banned the use of clone infantry. They took our stuff. They shut down the clone facilities. For months, possibly years we existed only as stored files in a computer.
Then something caused them to revers their decision and allow the use of clone solders again...
... maybe different political factions within the governments of the four Factions which supported the use of cloned solders took power...
... Maybe a pirate faction got hold of the technology and the four Factions has to restart the program to counter them...
... Maybe one of the Four Factions broke the treaty...
However it happened, some of the solders from the original program were taken out of storage and downloaded into new clones... we lived again...

I actually want a name change anyway, don't care if they reset names or not as long as my sp carries over. I have almost 30m passive unspent skill points accumulated, I only have 7-8m spent in the time I played the game. As long as my sp carries over and I can start with 38m I'm fine.

With that said, some stats might be kept as well. Hopefully they pass our BPOs and SP. that's what matters the most as money and time was spent on that.
Isk, aur, assets, etc, we can easily get more of that. But its SP and bpos that matter to me mostly.
I had to give MY WALLET for the G-M/H skins. 200M+ isk. I wanna keep them.
Gonna make sure to take a pic of EVERYTHING I HAVE before the servers go down just incase. Again, don't expect anything beyond your name to transfer. You'll only set yourself up to be greatly disappointed. Ugh. I know. But it's just.... So much time to get So and stuff all to see it go down the sink. I could have stepped my trumpet level up, gotten some decent abs, improved school work, etc etc etc. It's a disappointment to see it all go down the drain. There should ATLEAST be a skill pool so that all our SP is generated again over time. Basically, at the fairest way, we would probably get 1.5x more sp per match from our normal pool to get out SP back. Some people spent hundreds of dollars for thier SP. they Shiism atleast get some back no? I feel ^^^ that would be the fairest as we all still start fresh. Example- Dust vet- 1500 sp New player- 1000 sp It will be a new game.....there might not even be bpos or the same gear or system that was useful in dust. That's why I"m burning everyhing....even selling my bpo's to the npc corp to make "space" But what about the 'Just in case' factor? you never know
Exactly. It'll be disappointing to know my 62m, 3 Gallente Quafe skins and 4 bpos didn't make it to the new game. I spent almost 3 years for the SP and weeks finding and negotiating for te skins/bpos.

I'm already doing that. I had hundreds of all sorts of AURUM gear that I'd been collecting for the last six months and never used. Now I'm using it all as fast as I can. All the Caldari stuff, anyway. All the rest of it is useless to me, and I can't even give it away. Oh well... |
