Is the hit detection for the dropship turrets very poor, or am I just bad at using them? It seems like 1 in 20 shots I fire gives me a hit marker... |

If you could describe your situation more maybe?
For me, I've had issues with accurate firing, it often shoots away from where I am aiming, but I've had a issue as well with explosion radius ... sometimes if fine, other times it seems off, I hot the floor next to the guy, and his health doesn't go down at all. Other times, they are about 1-2 meters away from the explosion, and they take 1/2 to full shields down. |

Moving vehicles have a persistent problem where their turrets are unable to fire directly in front of their crosshairs. For example, if you're driving past a stationary target, and shooting from a dropship, (this also assumes you have an auto-aim of some sort perfectly aligned with the center of the target at all times) the fire from the gun will sometimes lob to the right or left about a full meter. AKA the origin of the shot is not within the gun itself, but seems to be from BESIDE the gun. but the angle is still the same.
I believe its because the game tries to make the shot "after the fact". So it pans the shot origin backwards in time--a bit too far, to where the turret was a half second Before the shot was made, then uses that as the origin. This is just my personal speculation however. |

I've noticed this a lot with Dropship Rockets, but the problem I'm describing is with the standard turrets on the Militia Dropship. I can't tell if the problem you described applies to the turrets because I cannot see every individual shot as it is fired and its origin.
It could be one of four possibilities; 1. What you just described. 2. Drunk dropship drivers not holding steady and causing my shots to be off. 3. 1 and 2. 4. I'm bad.

Do you mean using a blaster turret from the dropship? Those are freaking useless. I jump out of anybody's ship that's outfitted with those. |

Yup, that's what I'm talking about. But my problem isn't with how weak they are, but how I seem to never score hits with them. |

Yeah, they have several problems that make them a really bad choice for dropships:
- They aren't 100% accurate - You're often at long to extreme range in a dropship, making the bullet spread even worse - Your targets are usually moving - So is your pilot, and generally on all 3 axes
They also do take quite a few hits to kill someone. I've hit people with them, but I've never killed anyone, even when a pilot abandoned ship and dropped us right on the ground in front of several enemies that didn't notice us right away.
They just have too much spread and no splash damage, making them useless compared to the alternatives. They might be ok against vehicles, but so are the alternatives.
It seems like they made some changes to the blasters, and I don't really like how they handle in this build . Even more so when they're on dropships. They were what I outfitted my HAV with last build, I won't be doing that this time. |

Exactly +1 to this^.
The turrets are garbage because of all points listed above. They should put some kind of explosive tip on the bullets fired from the turrets on dropships that have a small splash damage area. That way if you hit close to the enemy you are aiming at atleast you still hurt them. Either that or increase the bullet damage because it is super hard to kill anything with those guns they are weak and inaccurate on top of you moving, the enemy moving and long distances.
The only thing I found the turrets useful for are taking other dropships out quick. |

So it's not just because I'm incompetent? That's a relief. |
