If anyone if familiar with CCP's media they might remember this trailer entitle
"I was there.". While the concept is a little cheesy it got me remember my experiences with Dust 514 and what made me really enjoy this game.
At the same time it made me mildly curious as to where other players were when the moments that defined their Dust experience and what those were.
I was there when alongside representatives of PIE Inc, EoN, Hellstorm Inc, and Lokun Listamenn mercenary corporations and alliances alongside our stead fast militia allies crushed the traditional Minmatar held dominance in the Bleak Lands, Devoid, Metropolis, and Heimatar.
I was there in the Bleak Lands after we affected the first major swing of the Pendulum War and was there after that campaign on the night an I-Hub bashing fleet went through 7 systems uncontested aided by Dust modifiers.
I was there when the Min Militia cried about the broken system and how right Aero was.
I was there during the second Crusade through the Bleak Lands and Devoid that saw our operative undefeated for days at a time with no Matari forces that could not slow our advance for more than a few minutes at a time.
I was there when PIE established it's POS Forward base in Huola. The only online combat pilot able to help with the set up of the tower. I spent twenty minutes white knuckled and tasked to protect hundreds of millions of ISK worth of infrastructure in the hostile system from half the Min Militia shipping in their own materiel.
I was there when the Amarr Miltia conquered all of the systems in the CEWMPA warzoe holding dominion over space and planets as one. For that I received a campaign medal, the same such medal that has yet to be won by the Minmatar.
I made a friendship with an Intaki, a punk ass halfbreed Caldarian, hell I'm even on speaking terms with one of the Matari Militia's regular Fleet Commanders, I've met Plasmessiahs from both the Federation and the Empire, and I've worked with Amarrians whose names will go down in history as the Empire's finest warriors.
I was there when the Empress was assassinated by the Drifters and mourned her loss alongside hundreds of other loyalists.
I'll be there when we get revenge.
When I consider Dust 514 like that even half finished after these three years.... it almost seems worth it.
