What do you all think 1.3 will include? Do you all think this may bring back Dust from the ashes?
Many believe this will be the last update ever.
I'm personally hoping for 1.3 to include:
* Better Matchmaking
Removal of Useless Junk:
* Weapon Model Viewer, Vehicle Model Viewer, If you Notice the Game has trouble rendering this 'til it loads.
* Removal of Other Variants (E.g. Forgegun is the same thing as "Strumbone" Forgegun)
* Removal of The Terrain outside the Redline, THAT'S VERY MUCH FUNTIONAL AND RENDERS !
* Finish Turning Useless Variants of Suits into Skins.
* Maybe Turn other Useless Same Weapon Variants into Weapon Skins????
* Fix, Do Something with Basic Gear, It's just collecting Dust Really.
* Do Something With Parts
* Removal of Militia Gear in General ( What Purpose is Militia Gear serving anyways? Just sit back and really think about this one. What Purpose does it serve but making the lives of people who run it even worse?)
Bugs ! Bugs Everywhere ! Fix These !
Please ! I've Been Keeping this Thread up for a long while now during the hotfixes and still no fix !
What do you all think will 1.3 be?
Use it ----> Abuse It ----> Nerf !!!

I prefer getting rid of the whole procedurial generation of the maps and just go with fixed, pre-rendered maps with hardcoded structures modeled into them so that the PS3 and battle servers won't have to work so hard.

Hmm... dont know why, but for the last few weeks ive had it stuck in my head that it will be a port to PC (Not PS4). Cant really explain why i keep thinking that... maybe its because i want the port to happen so much, its imprinted itself on my brain.

Not sure that I follow, but I believe that stabilizing performance is of utmost importance. If DUST wants to be a competitive shooter, it needs to run like a competitive shooter. No more "but PS3" excuses ... dozens of other shooters run smoothly on PS3. If optimization has reached its limit, get creative or cut content.

I know. But I don't care about sockets anymore. The idea behind sockets was to create variety in every match. But it seems we have gained that variety at the expense of stability which as a result effect game performance and maybe server load.
By the way, there are 10 unique terrains in this game. None of them feel any different if one of the maps changes the sockets. As long as the terrain remains the same, the major city is in its typical location, and with the medium and small sockets in their usual spots, they will not feel any different no matter how many times those structures change.
I say get rid of procedurial generation and then hardcode specific cities and sockets into specific terrains and we're done. That way, the server won't have to deal with constant generation of a randomly designed map every time someone starts a search queue. Just randomly pick one of the ten static maps and it's ready to go.

Fully implement skins. Remove all the unnecessary models (e.g each nanohive is a different model, but they are all the same. Why not just reuse 1 nanohive model for ALL the nanohives.) why do you think it's lagtastic when a bunch of equipment is all in a small area?
Suits too. For just medium suits there are 10 models per race. And that's excluding APEX and BPO (not sure if those are separate models)
Fully implemented skins will free up SO much from the ps3.

CCP Rattati/Frame said that the Power Core idea (which does what you're looking for) is still an option on the table.

Tiericide would be cool. I image it'd pi+ƒ people off, but that might be hopeful thinking.
But really, I really really really want EWAR to be fixed, preferably via removal of active Scanners because active Scanners believe that HitIer did nothing wrong, that Mao Zedong was a benevolent leader, and that Hillary Clinton would be a great US President.
Oh, and matchmaking/leaving battle epidemic. If no attempts are made to fix these awful battles, I won't play until 1.4 hits in 15 years.

Power Core seems like a no brainer to me.
If it hasn't been done already I can only assume its projected not to be as performance enhancing as it was initially believed to be.
The tinfoil theory is that a port is too close to consider the necessary work not redundant.
This is a positive and endearing message brought to you by Himi.

You must be new round here. :D Check EvE offline, you will notice how the player count is pretty much static since for ever.
This is unlikely to be Dust's last update, because limping along has literally been Dust's life since it started.

Considering that CCP still thinks that Power Cores is still on the table, I'm going to wager that perhaps it's either too close to when CCP has to make a decision regarding a port or CCP Rattati is waiting on Warlords 1.3 to be finished.
Overall, Warlords 1.3 is starting to look like it's going to be a very critical update for Dust 514 and its future.

Keeping with the line of thinking, CCP Frame and Rattati have fallen silent to write devblogs/posts regarding the port and generally prep for the port.

I remember from an older Biomassed podcast that Rattati was going to implement something "pretty unpopular" in the next update, but for the life of me I can't think of what it could be. Surely not more stripping of percieved redundant assets? Trimming-down of the skill tree? Power Cores, but not as we know them, Jim?
No idea. Very intrigued. Bored of waiting!

If you want a good NPE, removing Militia Gear is a bad idea. This is a crap cheap, no skill way for brand newberries to test out whatever basic gear they like before committing resources to skilling up and buying suits. It also lets them experiment with basic fitting ideas at a very low cost and start to figure out how the weapons/suits/modules work together. Without it you're chopping a huge creative playground for them off at the knees. Not a good experience. |

You could drop this game on the NSA super computers and it would not help.
Poor code = poor code.
It's not the current devs fault the entire foundation of this game is quick sand and the company has no real desire to support the game beyond min maxing.

I'm more concerned about stability of a static map versus that of a procedurially generated map. Could a static one help mitigate fatal errors, reduce some terrain glitches, etc. compared to one that has to be auto-generated?
I'm sure the size of the models will not change, but that's not the point.
