This is just a question I would like answered by the community.
My reasoning for losing interest in Dust isn't the game itself or the dev's. Sure there are things that they could fix that would make the game better but they aren't the main reason in my opinion.
The real reason is the players.
The players "worth their salt" simply follow the FOTM or let blues take bullets for them while they K/D farm. (Players currently playing. Not old n' true vets)
The players camp up high to avoid an actual fight on the point
The players spam grenades to avoid a fight.
The bad players follow the "good players" and aspire to become like them rather than their own merc
The "newer players" want help but refuse to listen
The Blues in pub matches should almost all be in a sandbox mode fight AI because they need it
The players prefer to camp in the red line with a Rail Rifle rather than pushing out
The players quit matches after seeing the enemy team
The players go to the forums and wine about anything thing can find, from Jump mods to re's and then back to alpha damage weapons.
o7 I look forward to seeing why you are/have losing/lost interest in Dust.
We're coming for you. You know who you are. And you know you have no chance.

Too many ********/pathetic people amongst the playerbase and one major problem with CCP.
In Pubs I see people run Proto/Officer Gear whenever they see newberries but run crap gear when they see they are up against players with a decent level of skill. Then when someone suggests leveling out the playing field for Pubs so that low SP newberries could have a better playing experience the ******** come out (some don't even play the game anymore) and complain.
I am also getting tired of Veterans who are hung up on the great players of the past to such an extent that they talk **** or look down upon the great players of today. To me this is the most mind blowingly pathetic characteristic I see in way too many players. It's like listening to a bunch of old people who start off everything they say with "back in my day" and then finish their statement with some condescending ******* remark.
As for CCP, I have a big problem with how little they care about people being scammed in this game. I understand CCP is all about trying to create content for the game but allowing scamming to the degree that it is at is absolute ********. CCP could have worked to implement the same type of trading system that you see in Eve but instead they put together a very simple trading system that allows scamming which in turn brings about very negative consequences.
CCP needs to realize that many members of the playerbase are putting in the effort to better NPE so that hopefully the playerbase can grow. Anytime a newberry gets scammed, because CCP allows this and does nothing to mitigate the issue, CCP is not only harming the growth of this game but is essentially saying '**** you and your efforts' to those who are trying to better NPE. |

The silence from CCP is sadly a demotivator for me. I feel privileged to have been part of Dust since close beta, and I like to follow the evolution of the game.
I haven't given up on Dust, and I play occasionally. It's not like I play a lot of other games either. It's more that my available gaming time have been reduced from a few hours a week to close to zero. (Kids, work and all).
I will be here until Dust close shop, but some updates would probably spark my interest again. |

Boo hoo hoo! Oh no a player gets scammed! Let's turn Dust into a care bear daycare! Gamers are freaking cry babies
Time to bring it back: this is New Eden HtheeFU.
Either this game gets a port or not. So what about the NPE? People are going to buy PS3s for the awesome new NPE in Dust? That's what makes Dust, Dust. Oh we can give critical acclaim to Demon's Souls for not teaching you squat, a simple die first, learn next mechanic but somehow this grim sci fi shooter with a edgy, mirrored real world , grim atmosphere reputation, needs to keep dumbing down to satisfy a quota that can never be met on aging system that no one with money to burn cares about.
This game died when they announced Legion and though Rat man did his best to salvage this game, the subtracted playerbase impacted this game in more ways than one. The battles began to suck. Short sighted forum warriors voted for CPMs not worth a damn and voted for changes to the game that were merely bad uneducated experiments. And through all that, people moaned the loudest about a freaking NPE when the NPE has always been community driven in games like these!
Folks just don't get it.

At this point of the game talking about of fotm is pointless. I guess that the majority of players have over 50kk sp. Personally I'm near 100, I play events, I play a match for the daily key, but then I log out, there are things I can't bear anymore. 1. Teleporters or ultra lagging dudes, generally Japs playing on EU. 2. Lack of players, leading to uneven MM, creating boring one sided games. 3. Excessive roof camping. 4. Too many explosions in general

I enjoy killing K/D pansies, I actually hunt them down just to kill them for being a coward.
The main thing wrong with this game, that would make me lose interest, is the bugs and lag. Lag is self explanatory but it's also the shooting people and doing no damage, the firing your gun but it's not really firing or using bullets, the swapping to another weapon and trying to fire just to have it swap back and forth instead.... There are a lot more, but it's those things that make you get killed for no reason other than poor programing.
The main reason I stay is because of the time I've invested into the game and the friends I have made. This game does have a good community c:

In my opinion why I-¦m losing,as a not so experienced player, 2 things:
-Remove K/D Ratio. How is K/D Ratio making this game better? Encourage WP and teamplay (I play logi and my ratio is quite bad...but I don-¦t care.) Be a sniper and you get good K/D, but not very helpful for own team when like half the team are camping on mountains and rooftops.
-Proto and officer gears for PC only. No proto in pubs, advance is good enough. (APEX doesn-¦t count as proto according to most "vets") Maybe new players got a better chance/experience when playing.
Why I lost interest already?
-Matchmaking and Scotty...how hard can it be to find a match? obviously 8-10 min is normal, restart, servers, game modes not helping (Ping:9ms, up- and download 50 Mbit/s, signal 95%)
and a side note: -Change current trading method or remove it. Scamming way too easy...(you send first, then I send......ooops dc-¦d)
You miss 100% of the shots you donGÇÖt take.

I mainly left because when I returned from dust after a long hiatus, there were very few good ADS pilots left. In these days, there are about only four pilots I would count that would get my blood pumping for duels. In the old days, there were many, Snugglez, Evolution-7, the list goes on.
They all played and were an honor to duel, whether I won or not. In my last days of dust, all it was a bunch of redliners who sat in a place where they're basically a demigod, and pelted me with an endless barrage of a weapon that a retard blind dead monkey ghost could use effectively. The forge gunners also left, one of the few other awesome duels I had, and most swapped to swarms.
I could honestly forgo the toxic community who does nothing but complain, the silent devs (this was a catalyst, won't lie), and even the new players in PC who would sell out their grandma for a klondike bar rip off. If you ever wonder why the open/closed beta vets hate the newb community, this is why. Had one corp try to join the alliance FA and AE were in, but they had a corp member we had bad blood with, and were willing to kick him to get in. It didn't happen that way, but the fact that he looked at him as expendable kind of... I don't know, I don't approve of kicking people to the curb for conveniences sake.
Anyway, I've babbled on long enough.

Impossible to get any sort of longevity in a corporation. I'll join a PC corp, hang around for three months, then everyone will failscade into the next corporation. Makes for a long list on my employment history and I hate having new leadership/corp-mates every few months.
Then you always get these hotshot leaders in the next corp who think they're God's gift to FPS games because they got a rival/friendly corp to merge with theirs. They always want to be in charge, flaunt their power, and it always ends the same way. Lose a handful of battles in some big PC war, everyone leaves to join the next winning team, and it lasts a few months before the vicious cycle repeats itself.
I wouldn't care about seeing the same faces all the time if it weren't for the fact that they're always going to be jumping corps in small durations. I like stability.

Game can still be a lot of fun but the thing that puts me off is that we have had bugs and errors in the game now for years that have not been addressed.
Simple fixing up of bugs and polishing the game with a bit of optimisation so that it might run smoother would do this game a world of good. (AKA PORT this damn thing now) |

^ All of this.
CPM2's self-servicing to date -- in combination with Rattati's silence -- hasn't exactly inspired confidence either. DUST needs better fights and better NPE. Not Assault buffs, Swarm nerfs and more vet perks. Come on, guys.
Speaking of DUST Jesus, it'd be nice to hear from the big guy every once in awhile. Even if it's only about big picture stuff. A major part of what made DUST interesting (for me, at least) was the sense that we -- the community -- had at least some input in the shaping of the game. Today, that seems to be the CPM's job and their job alone. These guys are more inclined to push for what they want than push for what we need. So why even bother?
I'll come back to DUST when player input matters again. For me, Fallout 4 came at just the right time.

My losing of interest towards Dust revolves around:
- CCP silence - Terrain and weapon glitches that have been around for quite some time, such as the RR misfire. - A matchmaking system that starts most games with uneven teams.
Another thing that annoys me are random team mates in pubs / FW that aren't worth anything. They do not contribute anything positive towards the team, or helping establish a win.
I'm only here because of the friendships with my corp mates / social features of Dust.

o7 I look forward to seeing why you are/have losing/lost interest in Dust. Right. I seen you guys totally r@pe a team 140 to 26 clones. You wonder why and your corp and many others are just stomping. Maybe once you have the point switching to basic might help the other team to engage more rather than tring to survive the next opponent.
If CCP didnt show KDR cept for end of a battle like Destiny does then that too might help but technically its already to late.
A skunk rule should apply and end the matches early if one team is dominating the field. It would quit wasteing a lot of my time. No wonder people leave a battle. Screw the game if its not gunna be fun to play unless your on the winning team. Its very very rare to find a match to have fun in and still lose the battle or win but just barely.

I'm honestly against the removal of KDR. I would rather people learn how to correctly read and interpret a KDR as well as realize that there are other stats in this game, some of which carry more weight than a KDR. CCP could help this by listing separate KDRs for the different roles as well as Factions a person runs in battle, and by listing more stats such as ISK Efficiency and WPs Earned Per Minute.
I am also against the "skunk rule" because I hate giving up and I will be extremely ****** off if a match I am playing is cut short because a bunch of other people decide to quit instead of using the *** whipping as an opportunity to learn to adapt and to figure out different ways to counter the changing conditions of a battle.

Incredibly repetitive and BORING. Spend 5 - 10 minutes in the merc quarters to end up in a match that 8 out of 10 times is going to be a lopsided red line match within minutes. Even when you includes battles that actually become a battle you are pretty much guaranteed to spend MORE TIME WAITING THAN ACTUALLY PLAYING. How anyone can consider that entertaining is beyond me.
Absolutely lacking in core mechanics and functionality. Tank just turned the corner and you go to sprint for cover but OOPs no sprint for you until you do the chicken dance, while this does not occur as often its still there. How about when you have to shoot some one 4 - 5 times just to register one hit? Hey new players and players that do not go on the forums we want you to put out equipment but it works using a secret function that you can not find a description for anywhere in the game. Come on CCP this was your starting teams screw up. How can you let someone build a video game with no focus on the basic core mechanics and now you have left Rattati to clean up the mess with what would seem like absolutely zero support from above other than counting up dollars collected.
No end game and nothing worth working towards. At least when the SP cap was lower we were all distracted grinding for a proto suit we find out there is absolutely no reason to have it. Rattati tried hard on PC even with both hands tied behind his back but the simple fact is it is still more profitable to farm than it is to fight a real fight.
Overall a garbage community. All the waiting time and the fact that we have been killed off to nothing but the bottom of the barrel when it comes to players means you are probably gonna spend more time getting hate mail or trolled than anything else. Sure vets just laugh this off but why would a newbie stick around when there are so many games out there that he at least has a chance of getting started without being stomped, trolled, and scammed possibly even out of real money before he or she finally gives up and leaves.
The only reason CCP even continues to allow their name to be placed on this game is because all the try hards are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on 1% damage and different color suits.
The real question that should be getting asked here is why in the world anyone still plays this game or spends money on it while being dumped on by the higher management in absolutely every way possible. If Rattati and Frame and a few other hard working people over there had half a brain they would get out while they still can. Once this thing finally crashes and burns it is going to be an even bigger blemish on their resumes instead of what it is now. You guys are hard working and smart people, you can do great things on a game that is actually cared about by the company.
I have had more fun on a couple of unnamed PS4 games over the past 2 weeks than I have had in the last 6 months of Dust.
