I love the enthusiasm.
However.
You do realize begging CCP for a pc port probably just infuriates them...
Allow me to explain.
Project legion. There will be forum warriors pop in and say "BLARGHH legion wasn't dust!" Buuuuut....
To CCP, it probably kinda was. And we pooped all over it. Seeing as I'm a Sony fanboi that's fine for me. I'm all about the port to ps4 movement. (It could use a good f2p...)
But just like people love to point out their butthurt over ff14. Pretty sure CCP still has a little angst.
If we could have thought rationally at the time, we might have made something beautiful happen. The sadness of the situation hits me too. But the past is the past now.
So save yourself some face, don't mention a pc port.

So save yourself some face, don't mention a pc port. For me it was the way they went about it not the fact that they were making legion..killing dust and the players, they didn't give enough info to be making the statements that they did, like what would happen to dust players was our time wasted? Will some of our stuff and names transfer over? I've spent close to 4 years here and to find out the game was being scrapped for something on PC pissed me off, if you're going to go down that path then at least think it through and tell the players what's going to happen to them..they had no intentions of transferring any of our stuff so 4 years wasted and several hundred $$$ that's where they went wrong with legion and they announced it to soon..before legion I asked for ports and constantly got shot down by the majority of players saying "I don't feel like buying a ps4 just cuz you have one" ..their timing and limited info is what killed legion
No player wants to here they wasted their money and time just for a beta that you get nothing out of

That crying for a pc port possibly angers CCP, due to the fact that they whipped up a dust experience known as project legion and it was not looked upon favorably by the large part of the community?

Have you not seen the keynote? Have you not heard what was said?
It wasn't the port or the name change that pissed us off, it was the fact that we had no communication months before FF14 then we were shown Legion, a game that wasn't even in Alpha. Then we were told there would be no furthur support for dust and that we will not be seeing any of the features presented at the keynote in Dust.
They used the Dust 514 keynote for a game that we have heard no news from for over a year and a half.
To be honest, I was glad when they announced the port, but betrayed when I found out they weren't going to be doing anything more with Dust.

I was here. I remember.
I also covered that in the OP. Pretty sure in ccp's mind, legion WAS a dust port... So they kinda were going to be doing more with dust.
I was upset about the news yes. I was more enraged that they were going to pc. Honestly, people who hold that 'betrayed' grudge have no bearing in my world.
I lost my brother corp to 'feelings of betrayal' and I have to call that bs. The CEO is still on my psn, still has his three, and plays destiny now with the corp that left...

Well I can not speak for CCP as they have proven to not very effectively learn from the past.
The project legion debacle had very little to do with Project Legion.
For quite some time all we heard was "laser focused on the PS3" and "10-year road map".
In the time leading up to fanfest we were told that something amazing was coming so CCP was being silent.
Then comes the Dust key note that we had all been hyped up for and it is nothing but a quick slide show about Dust and then on to a Dust remake on PC.
The information about character transfers was then mismanaged sending even the people who liked the PC idea scurrying around wondering how they had just gotten so burned on the investment they put into Dust based on what seemed to be absolute lies.
What we have here has nothing to do with what game CCP decided to make on what platform or even to do with what they decided on Dust. What it does amount to is the most epic PR failure that I have ever witnessed from a game developer.
But then it goes further.
CCP higher ups running around claiming Legion as the grand new thing and how Dust, the game that so many of us had invested a boat load of time and money into, was a "bad game". Having the creator of a game that you have spent a ton of time and money on based on hope that they pumped out call it a bad game as they are showing off the brand new replacement without even spending the time to smooth it over for you is probably going to incite absolute rage with anyone.

I'm still here bro. And the fact of the matter is that the rage was not about the port but about the presentation and being told that all Dust support would be pulled and the sense of betrayal felt afterwards.

If they hadn't announced it like that at ff14 then things might have gone so much better. They could've said many months before fanfest 2014 that they were working on moving Dust from the ps3 and that's it. And then at ff2014 showing the Legion gameplay and being honest saying that it wasn't gameplay from a ps4 but it was on a PC prototype. That honestly sounds like things would've been more acceptable as long as they pretty much hinted or showed that PC+PS4 was the way they're headed. Even if they got a PC version of Dust out there first and had a PS4 port not long behind( perhaps 6 months if they were working on the PS4 version on the side just with a bit of a smaller crew)
It was really too late at that point to just abandon their console players anyways so a ps4+PC port is pretty much the best way to go since the many EVE players that don't want to buy a console couldn't play Dust and they've got many console only players that have stuck with this game for so long.

Yeah, CCP learned a lot from the FF14 announcement but there's a lot of details surrounding that event that aren't and may never be public. Obviously, I can't go into that, so please don't ask.

The silence is necessary, unfortunately. When CCP is 100% certain that what they say will come true, that will likely change. That era of 'tentative maybes' and 'hopeful optimism' is gone, replaced by an era of educated, relative assurances. You can see that much with every build that has come since CCP Rattati took over: If he said it was coming, it was usually right around the corner.

Nothing that I have seen could possibly be construed as constructive or adding anything new to the port discussion.

Which is what happens when one ports a game... It dies on the old medium, and rises on the new.
Idk, I was upset because it was going to pc. As were the rest of my console friends. (At least 100 of us were from pshome/event horizon) Some of us could handle it. Some left.

I can't , a lot of other development companies show their actual progress to their communities and tell them what they want to do and where they are headed with their product. That's how they've gained trust from their community and are able to keep going.
CCPs silence can mean that work is being done but it can also mean that they are just draining as much $$ from the playerbase for this game before they drop it and sell the license to develop (not own it) the game to another company that can get things done quicker with less bugs and errors.

When I first heard of Legion nothing was mentioned to me about my character being able to transfer over which is why I hated Legion.
I'm not that big of a gamer so I found myself in the position where I would have to invest in a gaming PC just to try out a game I might not even enjoy as much as Dust514 and without a character transfer from Dust514 to Legion to incentives me to actually play Legion I essentially felt like my favorite and only game I play was being abandoned; I thought I was going to lose everything I worked to build up in Dust514.
Now that I know the idea is to have Dust514 characters be able to transfer to Legion I am now cool with it.
I would still prefer to have an Eve-based FPS on console though simply because it would expand the market base. |

Would've been so much better if they had started with making it for the PC. But now here we are waiting and waiting. The games potential held back by the ps3 ( can't blame the devs don't know anything about the people that were making the game from the start ).
Now it's just to late and unfair to leave the console only people back here, especially since so many of them bought the idea and gave CCP plenty of $$.

Nope even if i will look like moron i will fight for progress and all good changes. Look what beautifull mediocre game we have from something what was great.
What we have before was awesome by any meassure.
What we have no is just silence from CCP, flat maps, flat effect and flat sounds. Even voice is flat and honestly new music s|_|k5 big time.
ERGO
I will yell here and push they anger to extremes for good of game instead of be silent, save my face and be their sheep!!

I will let up the day CCP tells me otherwise with a post specifically saying "PS4 exclusive". Until then, I will continue to talk about #PortDust514. I will keep respectfully requesting more information and no one on these forums will stop me.
Think you misread. Keep up the port push. Just asking for pc seems silly since they tried that, blah blah.
Done beating this horse since most here don't fully read/comprehend.
I had to solder fix my USB ports, gave up finally and couldn't sync ds3. Hence the extra tasty crispy bittervetting....
Pair that fix with Frame announcing 1.3 soonGäó and this thread is now obsolete.

People were not JUST upset about a PC port. They were upset because of the months of silence leading up to the announcement, how the announcement was made, and that Rouge's Q&A session after the announcement didn't get aired like it should have. There were ways CCP could have made the Legion announcement that would have gone x100 better, but that ship has sailed.

I lost many friends as well OG Imps/Bunnies/TP/SyN/RND. They planned on coming back after a port but since there's no news of a port the odds of them coming back are slim..a lot have moved on and won't play dust even if it's ported because they're busy with other games since dust took to long.
