I know that currently selecting a Female character is not an available option in the current beta build. With that said, would having a female dropsuit have any differneces to the male suits or will it be copy and paste stats? |

We have no idea yet, but I hope it'll be copy and paste so we don't end up with people choosing the Female character because it has an advantage; usually in F2P FPS games on PC they make the Female characters faster, and sometimes have more stamina, and things like that. I hope thats NOT what CCP is planning for Dust 514. |

I do remember someone mentioning a Twitter post from a dev about how female mercs look really hot in the female variant of the Assault Suit, so I imagine its somewhere on their pipeline of features. However I dont see it as very high priority at the moment. |

I'm hoping that the only difference between the genders is the Dropsuit image (like they did for ME3). Giving an advantage of one sex over the other is not a fair thing to do in a FPS. Something like D&D it makes sence but not in New Eden. |

Nah someone asked about female soldiers getting an advantage by having a smaller frame, and thus being harder to hit, but the devs were very much against giving any sort of advantage. The only difference would be how they look....I just hope that doesn't mean we'll get amazon women =P |

I agree....as a female gamer I don't want any special perks other than having breasts and nice a$$ when I'm gaming lol. The amazon thing would suck....I just wanna get out there and blow stuff up and kick major butt with all the boys |

I understand completely, we have a couple female players in our clan/corp that I'm sure would enjoy being able to play as women since this gene so often includes only male characters. |

We will get female character as well as female models, CCP confirmed it, the real question is : When? At this point I say "Make them available at day one". Female players MIGHT not want to touch Dust without in-game female character and frankly I prefer a small delay to get it done than potentially have less players. |

At least CCP understands it's core audience.
Fun Fact: They got the actors to agree to do that seen when the director agreed to direct it naked as well. |

Incidentally, I think the female models from the game Planetside are a good reference to use. Female Planetside models are only vaguely different from the male models. Just slightly more lithe, really. They are otherwise fully clothed and wearing body armor which is not designed to make them look sexy.
Behold: http://www.planetside-universe.com/media.php?album=20
No really pronounced breasts, no extra skin showing, and otherwise armor which is designed to be equally effective as the male version of the same armor. It's as egalitarian as you like. That's what Dust ought to aim for. |

Agreed. I've got a couple of Female friends who are interested in Dust, but are very leery of harassment in MMOs (let alone an FPS MMO) already. |

Well, have to say, was telling my wife earlier how there was this one really awesome GM that joked around with us. I let her read this response and you got a resounding "hell yeah!" cheer from her, as well as a suggestion that we rewatch Starship Troopers again tonight.
Also, GM Fabulous was supposed to randomly give you a high five for me. |

This is something I would like to know, as would some of my friends who intend to play this game. I'd rather be able to make one day 1, instead of have to make a brand new character weeks or months down the line and lose the active and passive SP and ISK I've accrued on the other character that I'd be abandoning in favor of the female one.
If it's not done in time for release, could we have an option to set up a female placeholder character at release? Something that we select "female" but have to have a generic stand-in until females are implemented, and then we can do all the appearance customization as a female and keep the progress we had on that character. |

Considering they will be resetting everything on more than one occasion, I don't imagine you'll really need to worry about. When they release female characters, it will likely coincide with a major character reset at which point you'll lose all of your saved up junk anyway. |

Are they going to be constantly resetting things after release though? That's what I mean by if they don't come for weeks or months, as in that long after the game's official release. I don't mind losing progress during the beta, I expect it to happen, but if female characters aren't ready by release, I'd like to have some way of not losing progress by creating a new character simply because the option wasn't available when I made my first one.
I only ever remember hearing it commented on once, and I forget if it was they'll be there by release, or some time after release, hence the concern. |

They should make the female models similar to what bungie did in halo reach or what epic games did in gears of war 3 , have chicks in cool armor that can kick serious behind |

Skytt Syysch I am sure CCP will devise a way to let us change the sex of our characters without having to erase them...probably when the time comes you only will have to re-do the Avatar.
In case we don't get female merc at day one then female players should get a bonus for the wait ;) |

it wouldnt make sense for females to have an advantage as speed and stamina are the only things actually based on the players physical abilities, other than those just about everything is based on ur gear |

I second that! Also, these are not normal humans but super troopers with a splice of Lion, Cheetah and Platypus genes, so not normal men and women.

I agree with Fingal Seng & Fat Axel. The female characters should be equal to the male characters and not have any advantages as they should have the same boosts & enhancements resulting in the same end result. If not, then in addition to the female characters having advantages over the males they should also have disadvantages. Having equality only being implemented when its "convenient" only creates a "false equality" or sense of reverse favoritism/sexism.
One of my favorite things about Starship Troopers was that it implented "true equality". The females in that movie hit men & were hit by men without any special treatment or protection because it was obvious that there enemies weren't going to give them any "preferred treatment". There was no "separate but equal", there was only "together and equal". To me the soldiers in that movie had no gender, they were all "Soldiers" and thats how it should be in Dust 514. Leave out the half-***ed false equallity B.S. Having served 8 years in the military out of the last decade its obvious that we are decades (if not a century) away from true equality between genders in the military.
However being that Dust 514 is set 21,000 years in the future, this game should not be limited by the double standard of today's military/society over females being allowed to serve in the military but not in actual infantry combat. In the timeframe that Dust 514 is set in I would think that females would have already proven by then that they are just as effetive in combat as their male counterparts. As such it would only make sense that females & males would be fighting side-by-side in that universe.
On a sidenote, I have no problems playing as a female character in a game as I've done so in past Halo, Mass Effect, other FPS, Fighting, Adventure, RPG & whatever else genres that have had females as alternate or primary playable character. The main focus of a game should always be about gameplay & NOT the race or gender of a character. Anyone that complains that they "can't" play a game due to the gender of a character isn't an actual gamer & is only playing for the "popularity" of it. |

Identification with the character is fundamental in video games; in MMO race & gender are key elements to achieve this identification...and Dust 514 is a MMO FPS. |
