Just because the Minmatar can only afford stock clones doesn't mean the other empires and independent merc corps have to go that route.  |

I think it has less to do with being cheap and more to do with being practical. Clones in the eve universe don't appear to be grown the same way as portrayed in some sci-fi where a genetic sample is taken from the original host and grown but rather it seems to be a generic body that is later infused with a few genetic markers to resemble the original body of the host. More akin to putting your bumper stickers and fuzzy dice on a car rather then the vehicle being a rebuilt version of the car you just wrecked.
From my understanding of some of the eve lore pertaining to this, base model clones (ie the cheap clones that would most likely be used in combat) lack sexuality of any kind, but rather have cosmetic "parts". These are non functional on base clones so the whole argument of male/female is moot, rather a, when in a combat clone, it is a mental state.
All that being said I am sure that DUST soldiers, much like Eve pilots, "jump clone" into their combat clones while the clone in the Merc quarters is an actual high grade clone with real "bits and pieces". |

well as per some of the lore, the fresh clones are unmarked by previous battles, your sweet scar from that one time you took a piece of shrapnel across the face, are supposed to disappear between clones, but some things such as vitoc addiction persist, so its something of a fuzzy grey area, but i would have assumed that theyre going to need to cut the 'beauracratic tape' in some new lore to justify female clones and more importantly equipment costs for custom body shapes... |

Yes, I realize this is fluff, but given the amount of fluff that EVE has, and that Dust is developing, I feel its important to mention.
As far as the chronicles on the Dust site, and details from Templar One, the bodies we use in Dust are mass-produced disposable clones, completely identical accept in vocal cords, so that we can identify each other's voices. They're technically genderless. I know [spoilers] Vince and the others weren't, but they were early models whose bodies were directly modified rather than jumping into the new clones immediately.[/spoilers] Also, the Amarr love wasting money. |

Just watched that movie again yesterday, that was a nice scene.
But back to the subject at hand. Hopefully the only advantage the female character has over male is that it'll take snipers longer to take the shot(haha). |

Im a girl and tbh i have no preference. Really changing my little guys sex to female is useless anyway as the character has already been created and its the one i intend to use at launch as i dont want to loose my name haha.
Most games have male protagonists especially FPS and it really makes no difference at all to how you play, you are still going to get shot just because you have a pair haha |
